Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

some interesting fixtures here, well in my eyes

Haverfordwest v Port Talbot
Fiday night's match between two form teams .They both have beaten the the other contenders for 2nd place.

Newtown v T.N.S.
second in the league against the "unbeatable" TNS

Aberystwyth v Connah's Quay
a botttom of the table clash with both sides improving , until i saw the fixtures I was expecting both to produce an upset.

Airbus v Cwmbran
two sides on the slide , again before seeing the fixtures was going to oppose these two irrespective of their opponent, what a dissappointment that they are playing each other.

Llanelli v Porthmadog
My side Port have a journey down south to play the spaniards. Can the improving Port overcome the class that Llan have imported?

Rhyl v Bangor City
This Sunday match should be a clinker , intense rivalry between both sets of fans, they hate each other.

Will post more throughout the week , would appreciate any comments , even

"interesting ! what a load of shite"

Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

What do you reckon on the draw between Newtown & TNS, I refuse to beleive that TNS are unbeatable. Surely there must be some value on Newtown.

That Aberystwyth @ 1.9 looks mighty fine to me. The H2H goes with them for the last four league meetings.

The 3.6 of Bangor looks mighty tasty also. Okay they might be huge rivals, but Everton sometimes beat Liverpoo at Anfield. (Sorry this is the only comparision I could think of) and seeing as Bangor beat them 28th Match this year on Rhyl's own patch, may hold sway for a couple of peeps.

Good stuff Traeth as usual, must admit I normally throw in a couple of Welsh matches into my coupon and this week will not be an exception.

Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

thanks komp , those spaniards may be a class above Port

nice to see you arfajob ,
the standout bet for me today is Caersws @2.5 , Grange financial problem have resulted in the manager leaving see the report below from the welsh premier league site.
I saw the goals from Bangor's 5-1 defeat of Grange. Grange had a 16 year old in goal who had a terrible game , quite a few Grange player had refused to travel because of "wages problems" .Roberts ,Bangor hattrick scorer, was almost apologetic in the interview on t.v. after the game about the goals.

Quote:
PAUL Giles has resigned as manager of cash-strapped Cardiff Grange Quins.
The former Cardiff City player failed to travel with his team for Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Bangor and stepped down last night as the Quins' financial plight reached crisis proportions.
"I have nothing but good things to say about Paul Giles, who has done such a lot for Cardiff Quins," club chairman David Pinches told the South Wales Echo.
"He is mentally and emotionally drained. Paul led the team to promotion as manager and has gone a long way towards establishing a Cardiff team in the top flight of Welsh football."
Assistant manager Mal Camilleri takes charge for Saturday's Welsh Premier fixture at home to Caersws.
Although goalkeeper Neil Thomas, who returned to Port Talbot, is the only player to leave so far, Pinches says it is inevitable that more will follow.
"Some players will leave, but there are some who will stay with us," he added.
Giles started his professional career at Ninian Park and then joined FC Excelsior in Holland before spells with Newport and Merthyr. He has also played in the Welsh Premier with Cwmbran Town, Ebbw Vale, Inter Cardiff and Barry Town scoring 44 goals from 174 appearances, and came on as a sub in the recent 7-0 defeat at TNS at the age of 44.
30 November 2005

Bangor lost in the cup last night and by all accounts their performance was poor ,goal in the 88th min, so I will not be risking any money on Bangor.

I am a bit wary of Connah's Quay ,they have signed two players recently and scored three last week, unlucky the previous week away to Cwmbran, I saw them against Porthmadog , they looked reasonable in spells but lacked confidence and a striker .They have both now

Last night's cup results
FAW PREMIER CUP 2ND ROUND
Bangor City1-2 Carmarthen Town
Newtown 2-1 Haverfordwest County
Rhyl FC 1-0 Cwmbran Town
Newport County 1-0 Caersws FC

Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

Rhyl v Bangor City

This from the Rhyl Visitor today

Quote:
ONE of the traditionally most competitive derbies in the Welsh Premier takes place at Belle Vue this Sunday.

Rhyl v Bangor City is always an attractive fixture on the WPL list and this latest meeting promises to be a real humdinger.

After losing several top players at the beginning of the campaign, City suffered a nightmare start, but in recent weeks Peter Davenport's side have found their form, a 5-1 thrashing of Grange Quins last Saturday lifting them up to fifth.

Rhyl, meanwhile, have lost three of their last four WPL matches and have dropped to seventh spot.

There is sure to be plenty of needle at Belle Vue on Sunday as Rhyl boss John Hulse and City counterpart Davenport do not enjoy the best of relationships.

The pair clashed at the end of City's controversial 2-1 defeat of the Lily-whites at Farrar Road last season and there has been no love lost since. There is also plenty of bad feeling between the two sets of fans.

Both teams will have players facing their old clubs. City's Michael Walsh and Layton Maxwell are ex-Rhylites while Lilywhites Ricky Evans, Lee Hunt, Peter Hoy, Mark Connolly and Gary Powell have all worn Bangor colours.

On the field, City have had much the better of things since the two clubs joined the WPL. Out of 22 clashes since 1994/95, Bangor have won 16 and Rhyl six. Bangor have triumphed on seven of their 11 league visits to Belle Vue. Remarkably there is yet to be a WPL/LoW draw between the teams.

The Lilies have a small psychological advantage this season as they beat City 4-2 after extra-time in a League Cup duel at Farrar Road back in September.

But Rhyl will need to raise their game to the level they reached against TNS in the recent 0-0 draw to maximise their chances of seeing off the dark blues.

The Citizens are running into form and danger man Paul Roberts, a striker who loves scoring against Rhyl, will be a key man again. Roberts bagged a hat-trick against Quins last weekend and has nine league goals to his credit this term.

Sunday's game could go either way and based on past results it is unlikely it will end up honours even.
From what I saw of the Rhyl v TNS clash live on t.v. ,when the Rhyl players are motivated they can produce very good performances , I also saw them play average against Porthmadog. This match has history so they will be wound up for this one at home.

Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

Tomorrow night's match

Haverfordwest [8] - Port Talbot [3]

Haverfordwest used the excuse of last week's snow to cancel their away game against table toppers TNS , they did not want a defeat to affect their present form I expect.Haverfordwest have defeated the other top clubs.these are their results ,beat Welshpool 2-1 @ home ,Llanelli 1-0 @ away ,Newtown 3-2 @away and drew with Rhyl .They appear to draw against the lesser sides in the league.
Port Talbot started the season drawing a lot o their games , once they started winning their games they climbed quickly up the table.Their win last week was with a very disputable penalty against Rhyl. They lost the previous week to Grange ,which surprised many ,me included.Their wins have been against the troubled sides.
Both clubs have drawn 6 out of 12 matches
I can see Haverfordwest winning this one against a team that is in a false position.

Haverfordwest @ 2.50 bet365

Call me an ignoramus, Mr t, but after 2.5 mins of research I deduce that Newtown are in a false position and that TNS are just the thing for my little combo. Do you agree?

I totally agree with you jack , nice to see you here , welcome to the TDP. Newton had an excellent start to the season but up to last week their form was very mediocre.Last week they beat Welshpool [I believed that Welshpool was in a false position last week] .TNS have won all 5 home games ,away they have drawn 3 and winning their other 4 games .The draws were their first two games before they got into their stride and Rhyl who hassled TNS all game.IMO I think Rhyl will finish 2nd to TNS in this league.Newtown had their influencial captain and striker injured in last week's game and he missed the midweek cup match ,no news yet if he'll play saturday.
This logic may be flawed ,but worth considering .TNS are 8 points ahead of 2nd placed Newtown with a game in hand .Airbus are 13th just 8 points behind Newtown. There is very little difference in points between 2nd and midtable teams .TNS are well ahead in class as well , with a large squad and plenty of attacking options.

Good luck with your bet jack.

Hi komp ,will this be your first bet in this league? If so , it put additional pressure on me :loon , if it comes in will it mean more bets on saturday?

Good luck mate

THREE GAMES ARE RAINED OFF

HEAVY rainfall overnight and throughout the day has caused the postponement of three of Saturday's Welsh Premier League fixtures.
The game between Airbus UK and Cwmbran Town was called off early on Friday afternoon, while the weather has also claimed the match at Plaskynaston Lane, where Carmarthen Town were scheduled to visit NEWI Cefn Druids.
A 5.00pm inspection confirmed the club's worst fears.
The fixture at Stebonheath Park between Llanelli and Porthmadog has also been postponed.

Re: Welsh Premier League Dec 2/3/4

Newtown AFC v Total Network Solutions 14.00
Previous post covers this one ,1st v 2nd.
TNS have not conceeded a goal in 648 mins
TNS beat Newtown in The League Cup earlier in the season

TNS @1.5 EASY WIN

Aberystwyth Town v Connah's Quay Nomads
Second game for Aber's new manager , he has brought in two players from his old club , 6ft 5ins striker Billings and defender Lloyd.Aber should win against bottom of the table Connah's Quay.C.Q got their first win last week 3-0.They have also got a new striker.

Aberystwyth @ 1.90

Caernarfon Town v Welshpool Town 14.30
As some of the regular readers of this thread know ,I have a soft spot for Caernarfon and think that their awkward pitch gives them an advatage. They have let ME down numerous times this season.I am going for Caernarfon against third placed Welshpool

Caernarfon@ 3.50

Cardiff Grange Quins v Caersws FC 14.30

I put my money on Caersws early in the week expecting their price to drop, this has not materialised .I thought the news of Grange's manager leaving plus the departure of certain players having an effect.Caersws have had reasonable results lately ,against mid-table sides though. Grange appear to be a different side at home, last week they had a 16 year old in goal who had a terrible debut.
I am convinced that Caersws will win this one easily SO I will not be jinxing it by selecting it for the T.C.

Caersws @2.50

Good luck all
