Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

Cheltenham v Oxford was a cup game on Saturday. From what I can tell Chetenham should've finished off Oxford before they got an equaliser. Both teams are set to recall strikers and IMO this will improve Cheltenham more than Oxford. Another thing to bear in mind is Oxford's recent form (0-1-5) and from reading the L2 forums it's sounding like Cheltenham are gradually improving.

The unders are probably a decent bet with Darlington too as they're reasonable at the back and are really struggling for goals, couple that with the fact that opponents Shrewsbury have a future goalkeeping star by the name of Joe Hart in goal.

Torquay are truly awful mate. However I don't feel my knowledge is that great on Northampton and then there's the Calderwood bizarre tactic handbook which means anything could happen. On paper though Northampton are by far and away the better side.

One other one to point out. Wrexham v Mansfield - Wrexham have the best home record in the league and Mansfield the third worst away record.

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

Quite like the look of Carlisle away to Rushden, apart from Rushden are unbeaten in last 2 v Darlington & Boston. Rushden at home is 3-3-3-11-12, last 5 is 2-2-1-6-3 & last 5 at home is 3-0-2-8-7.
Carlisle away is 4-3-2-10-9 with the last 5 being 3-1-1-12-5 & the last 5 away is 2-1-2-7-8. Beaten last time out by wycombe late on but unbeaten in 5 before that.

Preview from soccernet:

Rushden boss Barry Hunter welcomes back loan pair Chris O'Grady and John Ruddy for the visit of Carlisle.

Leicester forward O'Grady and Everton goalkeeper Ruddy both missed the weekend's FA Cup exit at the hands of Leyton Orient, after being ineligible for the competition, and are expected to regain their place in the starting line-up.

Marcus Kelly should shake off a bruised foot suffered in training to face the high-flying Cumbrians.

Striker Dan Chillingworth (hamstring) and right-back Rob Gier are both sidelined.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson has the luxury of a full strength squad to choose from.

Spanish defender Zigor Aranalde returns to the squad after missing the last six matches with ligament damage.

Fellow defender Peter Murphy and in-form striker Karl Hawley picked up slight niggles in training last week, but both are expected to play at Nene Park.

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

Iwas looking at Cheltenham at home to Oxford but nah it looks like to me Oxford's wee barren spell has come whilst playing the leagues top teams or some inform ones. They could easily enough get some points. Not one for me unless instructed otherwise.

Grimsby v Rochdale looks as hard as a bag of snakes. Rochdale did win both games last season mind. Chester v Orient looks like draw city but truth be told i might consider the away in this once i go and look at prices. 3.50 at Hills which is errr about 5/2. Aye im gonna get a right good coupon sorted as im hopefully in my new flat tonight teletexting the results in my bath gown whilst supping coffee or seing what i got in the fridge

I see what Christian says about this division. The aways seem awfully high priced. Are Notts County coming back to early season form? 2 goodd away results. Surely Peterborough wont be as hard a game as the other 2. Again they look kinda larg to me from here.

darlingtons last 4 aways read - 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 0-0

Northampton i could like at about 5/4. Wrexham could be in for a harder game than their odds suggest to me but again i havent been keping an eye on Div 2 as i used to. Boston won both games v Wycoime last season. Thats some record by Wycombe this season. Unbeaten in 19 games

Carlise i could like but it looks like Rushden have stopped the rot last 5 games. tthey had injuries earlier in the season and must have some players back. Carlise are scoring for fun mind and in good form. Soz i aint read the above poss but i will. I dont like to be influenced form the off you see

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

I think Torquay have had horrendous injuryproblems this season Johnny and even had to play the 38 year old grounsdman who was married to the managers daughter (i think) for one game. He got sent off for headbutting someone if my memory serves me well. I like Northampton away usually but theres still a nagging doubt that Torquay could get it together even just for one game. I would have to read up on it.

Cheers for the Cheltenham v Oxford info Frodo. I'll go read the reports but i'm very wary as Oxford are a team i'm usually putting money on this season. Obviously i wont be that blinkered but its scaring me a bit and as mentioned i think theyve had some hard games of late and could be anything v Cheltenham (no they wont theyll be like the reports poss, i better read)

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

Cheltenham vs Oxford seems a very very tough one to bet on, Cheltenham epitomise averageness in this league and they can win/lose any game. Oxford looked better at the start of the season but I dont have faith in them now. The prices dont look too attractive and thats the problem.

Grimsby vs Rochdale looks a cracker and id be more tempted to plump for the away side, if youve been following this thread you'd know Rochdale are my team and they always win at big prices for me. Are Grimsby still better on the road as I have no stats in front of me? Rochdale can win anywhere 3.3 looks ok but not good.

Draw between Orient and Chester Komp? Nah Chester wont stand for that and like you id be more inclined to go for that price on the away, Chester have been really impressive this season are your guaranteed goals with them.

Shresbury vs Darlington looks a bore to me as you've highlighted Darlos low scoring away games..

So in short Rochdale and Chester are worth consideration.

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

My lay system reckons that Cheltenham and Wycombe are too short.

Chelts is an interesting one because all bookies go odds on yet on Betfair you can 11/10, maybe even slightly better. If youre gona back them do it at betfair as the price is far superior. I wouldnt touch them though as theyve lost 4 of their last 6 league homes.

Wycombe look good for a draw. I certainly wouldnt back them at odds on as they draw far too much. Boston also draw a lot of away games. The draw certainly looks value if draw bets are your bag. I said 'draw' 5 times there

The other time I backed against Wycombe this season at home was when they drew with Rushden.

Re: CC Division Two - Tue 6th Dec

from the bbc...

Cheltenham v Oxford Utd
Cheltenham manager John Ward is able to call on two fresh faces for his side's second home clash with Oxford in the space of four days.
Strike duo Steven Gillespie and Gary Bradshaw were forced to miss Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup draw after being Cup-tied.

Oxford can call on on-loan strike trio Scott Fitzgerald (Brentford), Neville Roach (Eastleigh) and Andy Campbell (Cardiff), who were also cup-tied.

Fellow frontman Steve Basham picked up a knock at the weekend but will be fit.

Grimsby v Rochdale
Grimsby boss Russell Slade has the luxury of a full squad at his disposal.
Tom Newey is expected to return from suspension and defender Rob Jones is pushing for a starting place following a hernia injury.

Rochdale welcome back Warren Goodhind, who has been sidelined with a thigh strain and will replace the suspended Gary Brown, who serves a one-match ban.

The game will come too early for Ernie Cooksey, who is still out with a back injury.

Leyton Orient v Chester
Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling has problems in defence with both Justin Miller (ankle) and Jon Mackie (suspension) out.
Teenager Brian Saah could be handed a rare start, while Lee Steele is also in contention for a place.

Chester strikers Michael Branch (knee), and Gregg Blundell (thigh) both remain sidelined, as does former Kilmarnock defender Sean Hessey (knee).

But Marcus Richardson (hamstring) faces a late fitness test

Peterborough v Notts County
Centre-half Sagi Burton could still be absent for Peterborough after picking up a calf injury in training.
Winger David Farrell is also sidelined as he continues his recovery from a dislocated shoulder.

Notts County defender Adam Tann is available after serving a one-match ban in the FA Cup defeat to Torquay.

Emmet Friars and Liam Needham could also come into the reckoning after being Cup-tied, but doubts remain about the fitness of Andy White (ankle).

Rushden & Diamonds v Carlisle
Rushden boss Barry Hunter welcomes back loan pair Chris O'Grady and John Ruddy, who were both ineligible for last weekend's FA Cup game.
Marcus Kelly should shake off a bruised foot suffered in training but striker Dan Chillingworth (hamstring) and defender Rob Gier are both sidelined.

Carlisle defender Zigor Aranalde returns to the squad after missing the last six matches with ligament damage.

Defender Peter Murphy and in-form striker Karl Hawley should also play.

Shrewsbury v Darlington
On-loan Preston striker Mark Jackson is pushing for a recall for Shrewsbury after recovering from an ankle knock.
Otherwise, Gary Peters' squad is free from injuries or suspensions.

Darlington's Brian Close faces another three months out after a recurrence of the ankle injury which has sidelined him for most of the season.

Keeper Sam Russell (leg) and midfielder David Duke (groin) are out for six weeks but Phil Stamp will finally make his long-awaited league debut.

Torquay v Northampton
Torquay's on-loan Wycombe striker Ian Stonebridge (ankle) faces a race to be fit after he was substituted early in the 2-1 FA Cup win over Notts County.
Kevin Hill stands by to replace him and Paul Robinson returns but left-back Craig Woodman has returned to Bristol City after a loan spell.

Northampton welcome back defender Jason Crowe from a one-match ban.

Veteran midfielder Ian Taylor (knee) is a major doubt, so Ryan Gilligan stands by, but Ashley Westwood is still out

Wrexham v Mansfield
Wrexham expect to name an unchanged squad, although veteran Paul Warhurst could return to the squad after injury.
Andy Holt and Levi Mackin missed the 2-1 defeat to Boston and will continue to sit on the sidelines.

Mansfield midfielder Gus Uhlenbeek returns to contention after serving a three-game suspension.

On-loan Manchester City midfielder Jonathan D'Laryea is also available, but Chris Beardsley has been ruled out by a broken leg.

Wycombe v Boston Utd
Wycombe have an almost full-strength squad to choose from with keeper Frank Talia will be recalled after on-loan Iain Turner's early return to Everton.
Midfielder Stefan Oakes remains the only injury absentee as he continues his recovery from a broken leg.

Boston are boosted by the return of on-loan keeper Michel Kuipers, on-loan striker Francis Green and midfielder Simon Rusk.

But striker Noel Whelan (hernia) looks set for a place on the bench.
