Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

mmm nae the best for betting these two is it. Ayr vs Forfar - tough to predict i suppose - i fancy a draw on it. East Stirling vs Queens Park, slighty fancy Queens Park but East Striling had a decent result against Elgin on saturday. Might be two games worth staying away from but i research them anyway, in fact i'm staying away from East Stirling as they haven't a manager do they and thats my new rule. Right Ayr vs Forfar lets do a quick bit of research on them.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

CARETAKER manager Gordon Wylde is hoping his tactical adjustments will improve the fortunes of Third Division basement side East Stirling and land him the job on a permanent basis.

Wylde will stick by the side which earned a draw with Elgin City at the weekend for tonight's match with Queen's Park, but believes he is entitled to a share of the plaudits. "I have switched things around and we played with five at the back to cut down on the number of goals we have been losing recently," he explained.

Victory would move Queen's Park up to fourth, but they will have to do without Paul Harvey, Richard Sinclair and Andy McGinty, who are all ruled out through injury.

Probably best left alone. Best odds around 1.66 for Queen's Park.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

Oooo, these games do look a bit 'iffy' don't they?

Ayr seem to be picking up a wee bit of late though thanks to their defence tightening up. They got a few defenders back from injury not long ago did they not? And that's a mighty fine 3-2 win over Morton in the cup on Saturday. I'm reading they played rather well. They sound pretty good in the 2-1 defeat at Morton (league) before that too but perhaps a tad fortunate to beat Raith 2-1 in their last league match at home....

Forfar bottom of the away table with 1 win in 8.... They've actually scored and conceded the same amount of goals as Alloa on their travels. Crikey. Ayr have only conceded 9 at home so far, 2 more than Gretna...... only 2 league wins at home in 7 though. Could their 3-2 cup win over Morton be a wee turning point for them regarding home league results? Maybe.

This is what I hate. Everything on paper seems to be pointing towards a home win but there are some nagging doubts. Bet365 going 2.00 for Ayr along with a few others and I probably will chance it. Midweek December is certainly a time to be cautious in the old Scots lower leagues though so small stakes. Good luck, all the best and may Santa be with you.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

Having a browse over at pieandbovril there and I liked this from 'Ally G' (Ayr fan - hope he won't mind me posting) regarding their 3-2 cup win over Morton:

Quote:
I thought overall we deserved the victory. The first half was pretty even, although we did hit the post. In the 15 minute spell where we scored our 3 goals, some of our play was breath-taking. When we pass and move we are as good as anyone in this division.
I've read a few times this season that those Ayr boys can play some good football. Sometimes it's even of the 'champagne' variety. I really, truly hope they can keep it going (at least for tonight) as I'm becoming more commited to backing them. I have a soft spot for Forfar but they're vulnerable away from home.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

just quick from me as im supposed to be trying to get my comp fixed and in a internet cafe. Ayr/forfar again a bugger but like the postponment of last time i would quite confidently predict over 2.5 goals. Forfar are shipping, Ayr are scoring. I reckon they'll be 5 goals in this on at least. Been wrong before with these goal bets before mind

QP on East Stirling's long turf? aye why no. Young Felvus will enjoy it and even without Harvey i predict a QP win. I'll be on them. Did someone say 8/11? i was gonna take the 8/13 on them even.

Hopefully be back online for real tonight folks.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

Ayr v Forfar does appear to scream 'GOALS!' Komp, I agree.

Forfar's last 6 matches (league), total goals, is as follows: 4, 4, 6, 2, 5, 6
Ayr's (league): 6, 1, 4, 3, 4, 3 - and of course the 5 goals in their cup match with Morton.

Yep. We've got a 0-0 a coming. Nah. There has to be goals. It's inevitible.

Re: Scottish 2nd & 3rd Divisions 13th Dec

Betfair is sometimes worth trying. I'm not sure exactly who covers the over/under on the Scots lower leagues. I seem to recall Crowie mentioning Globet I think. Yep - they have over 2.5 @ 1.61..... errrrm. I'd love to find a few more though. Gamebookers have Ayr to score @ 1.2 and Forfar to score @ 1.47 - I couldn't take that. Gamebookers also have HT or FT which I don't recall seeing before. Ayr HT or FT @ 1.5 - interesting. I'll need to keep my eye on these.

edit: Sorry Mr Chips. I was off looking at bookies while typing and you got another post in before me. Those stats are positively crying out GOOOOOALS!!! Hands up who is getting worried about a low scoring affair?

edit: edit: I forgot I was meant to be wanting to back Ayr. You lot are confusing me.

I make the Overs a 58% Chance, Therefore I really need to take 1.7 or better. I should have backed at 1.8ish before posting this!
