Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

Its kinda like the world cup trophy mick but in silver. Looks ok

The LDV trophy is a cup competition for teams in the lower divisions of the English Football League. Although "Football League Trophy" is its official name, it has been known by a variety of other names, mainly due to different sponsorships.
Since its introduction in 1983 the football league trophy has been used to experiment new rules which were at the time new to English football. An example of this is the introduction of the golden goal extra time rule which was introduced in 1994/95 final between Birmingham City and Carlisle United.

The characteristic feature of the competition's structure is that the competing teams are divided into two area groups, North and South. The two areas conduct parallel competitions to find area winners, who then meet in the national final.

Hereford have been taking this competion quite seriously Komp, They have some impressive scalps over the past few seasons. Adam Stansfield has returned and has had a few games so he is match fit, he's as good as any striker Scunny have and The Bulls are back in form.

I wouldn't want to put you off your Scunny bet but i'd keep the stakes low, its a tough call and if i had to shout on it i'd go for extra time if no Hereford win in 90 mins.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

Cheltenham v Oxford

Quote:
Cheltenham defender Jamie Victory remains the only absentee with a persistent groin complaint.

manager John Ward is confident Victory will return for the Boxing Day visit of Chester, but this game comes too soon for the former West Ham trainee.

Oxford's Chris Tardif could start ahead of heavily criticised first-choice keeper Billy Turley.

Elsewhere, striker Steve Basham (calf) and on-loan Oldham forward Adam Griffin (dead leg) could return.
Cheltenham @ 2.00 Bet365 is what I'm considering. Just going over the report of their recent meeting in the FA Cup (replay) which Cheltenham won 1-2 and it sounds like they deserved to win. I like the stats too: Cheltenham with 21 shots on goal to Oxford's 10 and hitting the woodwork too.

They met in the league not long before that and Oxford nicked a 1-2 win but again, Cheltenham sound the better side to me, doing most of the attacking 1st half but not able to turn their dominance into goals. 2nd half, relentless attacking again from the home side without managing to break through a stubborn Oxford defence. I think they'll feel a wee bit unlucky to have lost that one.

Before that we have their first FA cup match with Cheltenham again dominating the 1st half and I'm reading they should have been 3 or 4 goals up but Oxford this time having the best of the 2nd. Sounds a cracking game this one actually. Cheltenham with 22 shots on goal, hit the woodwork again while Oxford had 15 efforts and hit the woodwork twice.

Hmmmm, now I've gone over these reports I feel I could build a case for Oxford @ 3.4-3.8 (sigh) - I'll return to this as I'm not sure I want to pick a winner now. I think if the home odds were better I'd go with it and I still might but we'll see.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

Am I the only one who sees Carlisle United at 3/1(Stan James) as massive value to beat Tranmere at Prenton Park.A full squad to choose from with the exception of cup-tied Michael Bridges, they go into the game in fine form and currently sit 3rd in League Two against a rival who were beaten 4-1 at Home from Brentford on Saturday and have injury worries as well.Too big a price for the Cumbrians, methinks.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

from the bbc...

Tranmere v Carlisle
Tranmere's Ian Sharps, Ian Goodison, Gareth Roberts and Calvin Zola have all picked up knocks and will need late fitness tests.
On-loan defender Simon Francis is ineligible for the clash, despite extending his stay at the club from Sheffield United for a second month.
Carlisle are expected to have a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Nathan Hawley has received an injection to solve a ligament complaint and will be available.

Cheltenham v Oxford
Cheltenham defender Jamie Victory remains the only absentee with a persistent groin complaint.
manager John Ward is confident Victory will return for the Boxing Day visit of Chester, but this game comes too soon for the former West Ham trainee.
Oxford's Chris Tardif could start ahead of heavily criticised first-choice keeper Billy Turley.
Elsewhere, striker Steve Basham (calf) and on-loan Oldham forward Adam Griffin (dead leg) could return.

Walsall v Wycombe
Walsall goalkeeper Andy Oakes could be recalled after recovering from hand ligament surgery.
Michael Standing has bounced back from a hamstring problem, while Jorge Leitao returns from a one-game ban, but Ishmel Demontagnac (suspension) is still out.
Wycombe midfielders Sergio Torres and Rob Lee picked up knocks on Saturday and are struggling.
Goalkeeper Frank Talia (shoulder) is doubtful but James Faulkner, Steven Gregory and Ikechi Anya are available

MK Dons v Colchester
MK Dons are likely to be without strikers Izale McLeod (knee) and Clive Platt (ankle).
Elsewhere, defender Ben Chorley begins a three-match ban while midfielder Gary Smith has damaged knee ligaments.
Colchester will be forced into making at least one change as on-loan striker Jamie Cureton is cup-tied, having played for Swindon earlier this season.
The likes of Karl Duguid, Kem Izzet, Garry Richards and goalkeeper Dean Gerken could therefore come in.

Hereford v Scunthorpe
Hereford boss Graham Turner is likely to name an unchanged side after Saturday's 7-1 FA Trophy win at Bognor.
But Jon Brady is available following suspension, but may have to make do with a place on the bench, as will Jamie Pitman and Danny Carey-Bertram,
Scunthorpe defender Richard Hinds will be the only new absentee for trip to Hereford as he serves a one-game ban.
Fellow defender Andy Butler (hamstring) and midfielder Matt Sparrow (knee) are both still out.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

I'm suddenly liking Colchester a bit. Just looking at how they and MK Dons are doing in the league and Colchester are top of the form table (MK Dons 19th) and aint half bad on their travels too. MK Dons appear decent at home stats wise ( 2 defeats but 7 draws) but I think the away win is definitely worth a look. 2.6 @ canbet or 2.5 UKBetting

Columbo here is away to investigate......

Mickeypaul

Was just looking at that game and trying to get a read on it.

Didn't Colchester beat the MK Dons 2-0 at the week-end as well.

Very tempted to go with Colchester here.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

They did indeed mate (I'll read the report in a minute). MK Dons last home league match ended in a 2-3 defeat to Doncaster too who on paper aren't as good as Colchester. Colchester only conceded 8 league goals in their last 10 also. Aye - I think there could be something in here.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

9 wins in 10 in the league for Colchester and going over the report of their 2-0 win over MK Dons at the weekend, it sounds like one way traffic. Only the Dons keeper kept the score respectable I'd say. 5 efforts they had on goal to Colchester's 17. Heh heh. I'd better get through some more reports. Be right back.

Re: LDV Trophy 20th Dec

Can't fail to be impressed with Colchester's 1-1 at top of the table Swansea in their last away league match. Only and 82nd minute penalty save by the Swansea keeper denied Colchester all 3 points too. The home side were better overall, fair enough, but I'm still impressed with Colchester's league form. 8 undefeated away from home (4 wins 4 draws), plenty of goals in them, tight at the back, lovely. Will it transfer to this LDV thingy though? I'm beginning to think if they want to win tonight, it's theirs. End of story. I think I'll try a few bob on the away win.

I should maybe check how MK have been playing at home first huh? I was getting carried away. They don't win many but they don't lose many either.
