Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

First glances in a very limited card make every league game potentially interesting ...

Worcester look big at 17/10 vs Redditch with awful home record and manager freshly sacked after their defeat at the weekend.

Both South ties look worth looking at in regards to Lewes (Evens) and Eastbourne (2/1).

Aylesbury 11/8 vs the very out of form Merthyr? Kings Lynn vs the awful Cirencester at 11/10?

Farsley at 6/5 are in great form as well and have to be considered.

All the games there look interesting actually bar the FA Trophy games that look like stinkers to me.

EDIT - Just had a peek about and the 2 highlighted above look good shouts and I think ill be on both those. Write ups very late tonight.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

Farsley 2 bt Blyth @ 6/5 (Skybet)

Farsley well fancied pre season and with justification are picking up very nicely now. Won their last 3 games to nil scoring 10 goals (culminating in a win at Burscough 3-0). Theyre home records pretty sound at 5-3-2 and I like the way theyre scoring goals every game.

Their opponents Blyth are no slouches and wont be easy to beat. They were flying high in the first part of the season but things are catching up with them now with only 1 win in the past 6. They have been a bit drawy of late which is why I dont think Farsley will have it easy, but Farsley should outscore Blyth here. Frickley and BPA both beat travelling Blyth and they lost their last home game to Lincoln Utd which is a poor result.

At odds against this is an easy pick for me to take and I agree with the Evens quoted by the other 2 books so 6/5 is a nice price.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

Worcester 2 bt Redditch @ 17/10 (SportingOdds)

An interesting one this in the Conf North. Redditch have been pretty rotten all season tbh and sport a terrible home record of 2-1-7. Theyre very leaky and have conceded 17 goals in their last 5 homes picking up just the 1 point. 6-3 cuffing by Workington and 3-0 beating from Worksop show that its not cos theyve only faced the best sides either.

Of great interest is their manager Rod Brown leaving after weekends 3-1 home defeat v Harrogate. No money for players is being touted as the reason but there is also talk of the club being £100,000 in debt and it is rumoured that players are being expected to take a 45% wage cut. They cant be happy about that! As seems to be the case in non league this often leads to players leaving very quickly and it wouldnt suprise me to see some of their first team gone before Tuesdays game.

Now a team to take advantage of such a situation is needed. Worcester at first glance dont seem to be it considering they havent won an away game this season! BUT I still think they can win as the record is harsh on them imo. They have played much fewer than the other teams in the league and have only actually played 5 away games, their record is 0-2-3. They have had very good cup runs though and have drawn away at Conference league leaders Accrington, great result and only gone down 1-0 at League 1 Huddersfields ground.

They are also in much improved form. I and others tipped them vs Chippenham a month or so ago which many were on and they obliged. Theyve won 3 of their last 4 league games, all at home. They keep things pretty tight and have a very good striker in Webster.

All in all theres NO WAY Redditch can be favourites here. 6/4 is other books go on Worcester which would have to be considered but SportingOdds going 17/10 is a must for me.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

The other game which interested me further was Eastbourne at Yeading because of the 2/1 quote. Both teams are just really really bad right now and its certainly not a game id like to watch itll be awful football. I decided that it really could go any way so 2/1 holds no real value to me. The odds on Yeading are a joke though.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

What a poor coupon during midweek!!!
A few games that could potentially be bore-draws 0-0 between two poor teams.

Only games I can see that are potentials are Kings Lynn grabbing an away win and Farsley Celtic winning.

Just the one bet for me this week - Farsley Celtic to win at home...

Farsley are playing very very well recently, and have won their last 3 games easily. Beating Burscough 3-0 was an extremely impressive result for me. Got a decent home record too. Blyth are slumping big time, since beginning the season well. Lost their previous two fixtures. Like someone stated earlier, nice odds too @ 2.00.

Good luck guys...

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

Yeah Bromsgrove, Redditch fans certainly dont fancy it much...

Gary Whild to be in charge for tomorrow night against Worcester. Honestly can't see us getting anything with the players available.

Still, I'll be there...might get interesting after the match when the fans will have a chance to collar the Chairman.

Seems to me that they (Manager & Chairman) have both got it shockingly wrong this year and it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Still, here is looking forward to tomorrows game....hope you guys bring a few hundred fans 'cos apparently we really do need the cash.

Etc etc

Worcester have been cut now and its 6/4 across the board.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

Nice write up on Farsley MrM. I noticed that price on Sunday evening while having a quick scan of stuff for the week ahead. Reckon had they got a win/draw against Kettering (which was deserved for the first 80 mins according to reports) then the prices would have been lower too. Not that I'm complaining

Finally managed to look at stats, news, etc. myself last night and I completely agree this is one they should be looking to win. Especially given the manager saying a couple of weeks back (possibly reported in the NLP) that he wants to get up the league and into the promotion mix.

I've just got them for my midweek this week

Here's a link for you (posted on another forum by someone else) about Aylesbury having something of a crisis. I still don't trust Merthyr this midweek to be honest, but worth remembering for forthcoming games.

Re: Non league Midweek 20/21 Dec

Frfom tonights local rag

ANDY Preece is eager to pile more misery on managerless Redditch United tonight as Worcester City look to win the first of several games in hand.

City will leap-frog Hednesford Town if they beat their Worcestershire derby rivals at the Valley Stadium (7.45), in a fixture abandoned last month due to a waterlogged pitch.

And it seems Worcester have struck the perfect opportunity to face the Reds, following the resignation of manager Rod Brown after Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Harrogate Town.

Brown stepped down citing the club's financial difficulties, while United are also slumped in the league's bottom six after losing 12 of 20 games and shipping 45 goals.

Player-manager Preece insists Wor-cester will approach the game in normal manner, unsure whether Brown's departure could leave Redditch unorganised.

He prefers to concentrate on his own side, confident that City can continue their good recent form and garnish all three points.

"We've got to approach this game as we would do any other game," admits Preece. "I don't know whether it's a help or a hindrance that Redditch are without a manager. We will find out tomorrow night.

"It's been a strange month for managers. I think that's four of five managers in our league that have resigned or been sacked. Where it looked like everybody was being patient, suddenly there's been a knee-jerk reaction. It's just the nature of the job.

"But this is a derby and anything could happen. And you cannot say that form will go out of the window here, because both clubs are close together at the wrong end of the table. But we are playing well and I'm confident we can pick up the points."

City have five games in hand on a clutch of sides behind the play-offs and, mathematically, they can storm to sixth place by winning every match.

That stands to be a tall order -- especially as Worcester are yet to register an away win in Nationwide North this term -- and only the very optimistic City supporter is expecting a maximum 15 point haul.

But Preece believes tonight is an ideal time for City to kick-start their flagging league campaign.

He added: "We must aim to win every game that we can. We've got five games in hand on a lot of teams in the top half of the table. If we can win three and get a couple of draws, or get three wins, a draw and a defeat, that will take us well into mid-table. But the aim is to win all those games.

"We could definitely do with three points at Redditch."

Veteran defender Des Lyttle (cut foot) and top goalscorer Adam Webster (virus) are both expected to return to City's starting line-up.
