Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

Got to be very strong on Stirling Albion at the weekend, especially at 2/1 or bigger.Continuely scoring goals against a Thistle side who can't stop letting them in,even against Alloa who are rank rotten!..

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

Queen of the South beat a second string Falkirk side 5-2 at Palmerston last night in a match arranged to give Jack Ross and Andy Thompson some much needed match practice.Could this be the game that sparks Queens season and therefore make St.Mirren opposable on Monday?..

Decided to have one single at 5/2 with Ladbrokes on Stirling Albion who are far too big in my opinion at Firhill where the natives are getting very restless with Dick Campbell..

I could be against you Steven i gotta admit. All my Partick thooughts are due to me thinking Stirling have been a bit lucky in their wee run and i dont think theyre that good a side and i dont think theyre really playing that well. Still getting the wins mind and scoring the goals. Think i'll just sit it out truth be told but good luck to you. To me this game could turn out to be anything. Gonna grab a coffee and get into the prices and see whats happening on this xmas festive morn

They do have front players playing with confidence though Komp in Paddy Connolly and Chris Hay who if playing at their best would be a match for anyone in the division..

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

For sure Steven. Maybe i have been a bit blinkered against them and took Ayr to beat them on Saturday. Cue another resounding Stirling scoreline I never liked them before Sat and after reading about things just falling right for them it still makes me a bit negative against them. Thistle havent been the best at home this season and barr McCulloch they were pretty poor. Can they be poor 2 home games in a row? I just feel that there will hve been harsh words and possible a few changes this week and Partick might have a point to prove especially after Morton losing last week and them coming back. The defence is a worry mind and as you say Hay and Connollly will be there to lap up any xmas gifts from the Partick defence. I cant get involved. i really cant. Im glad ive been talked out of putting my xmas money Partick mind.

Looking at prices i can only take St Johnstone and Morton (4/7 Ladbrokes) at the mo. Montrose have started scoring and have an ok record up at Elgin. From memory they should have won that game up there in January and i dont think therres too many negatives in the 0-0 there earlier. Need to check. Elgin havent been beaten in 4 mind. they were up against it v Berwick in the draw, i cant comment on their 2-0 win at Albion, Arbroath didnt turn up in that fatefull day and i'll have to read up on the 1-1 home draw with a poor East Stirling side at the mo. Montrose bounced back nice after getting rid of Hall but again they'd have to be taken on trust. I might not bother and just watch from the sidelines.

Stenhousemuir i want to back but again its down to the team sheet. Stenhousemuir should have all their forwards available again and Frankie Carroll is bound to grab one back at Hampden. Again i dont know and im just talking off the top of my head. I need to try to get some order in this disorder. Lemme try

Albion (9/5) Draw (13/5) Arbroath (11/8)
The only thing stopping me from backing Arbroath is their poor away form. After looking so bright in their 3 home games (new manager and players back from injury) they put in a lifeless performance at Elgin. Down to 10 men at Cowdenbeath they stole the lead but got beat. Albion aint my fav team at home but they seem quite tenacious and seem to put in a shift every game. I suppose this has 1-1 or 2-2 writen all over it to me. I cant ge involved. Reading about how Albion dominated at home to elgin but just couldnt score.

No bet for me on this one unless theres a bout of the plague in one of the camps.

East Fife (9/5) Draw (13/5) Berwick (5/4)
Not often i've been interested in Berwick this season but i might be this week. The big thing to me is East Fife seem to do murder without Craig Smart in the midfield. Maybe its just me but thats my initial interest in this one. He was due to be out for the postponed game last weekend. Need to check. East Fife are no mugs at home mind only losing to Stenhousemuir 3-2 and to Berwick 4-0 1st game of the season. Berwick beat them 3-0 at Berwick but its berwick on the road i like. They havent scored a goal in their last 4 but im hoping for some team news to sort that out. Bring back Cowan and errrr...the others their missing and that 5/4 will be mine. Sounds mad to consider them on their current form though

Elgin (8/5) Draw (13/5) Montrose (13/8)
Bollocks i really want to back Montrose at 6/4 (13/8 skybet) aye i might just shut up about this one and slip Montrose on my line last minute. Nah need to look. Hard one to see anything barr the draw in but ive got a wee feeling for Montrose and i always get into them at Elgin. If your interested read the reports of their last visits and im sure you'll find that ther due a win up there. I havent but will. 56k aint much fun. Hopefully be back on 2mb for xmas

Queens Park (10/3) Draw (13/5) Stenhousemuir
Again team news for me. I'm such a fan of QP with Harvey playing that again i'll put this one down to wether he's back or not (been out for about the last 4 i'd say mind) Sod it Stenhousemuir's strikers just dont know how to not score at the mo i could be on them whatever. after putting in about 12 mediocre performances at the start of the season and still being in the top 2 theyre starting to play a bit now after losing their captain to injury for the season and a bit of a reshuffle. Players coming back etc i gotta have a wee interest. Aye i went on abou them on the seasonal thread for the league at 7/1 and their looking good at about evens now i think. Aye theyre gonna start turning the screw on Cowdenbeath and Berwick. Cowdenbeath look good though especially with the other brother being (cant spell Pataleinan) available in the new year. Anyhow i could well be on stenhousemuir and why not?

Alloa (3/1) Draw (13/5) Peterhead (5/6)
Firstly i have to mention Alloa's goals against record in their last 8 games. It reads 4,4,4,3,4,3,4,3 goals conceded in each Come on thats a team with probs. I know we're all quietly expecting them to bounce back and maybe go on a wee run but surely it aint gonna happen till they sort that defence out? Peterhead hopefully will have a few players back to help bobby linn up front and theyre starting to look pretty steady. Their 4-1 defeat at Alloa was a bit of a fluke from memory and as Mickeypaul well knows they played ok that day. Aye i have to have Peterhead but it could be one of them days we're all left scratching our heads a bit.

Gretna (1/7) Draw (6/1) Forfar (14/1)
I'd love to be into Forfar. Actually what price ht/ft as they gotta be worth a couple of quid. Forfar/forfar @ 40/1 Thats brilliant. Im for some. that would be my biggest ever football winner i reckon. They went one up last time at raydale before the Gretna steam roller steamrollered them. At Forfar though the gretna manager admitted that Forfar gave them a hell of a game and im gonna just take a wee bit of it and hope for an upset. I aint so convinced of gretna at home but they proibably havent been beaten in about 20 games at home. Sod it come on the Forfar

Ayr (11/10) Draw (13/5) Dumbarton (11/5)
this is a horrible game to me. Could be anything. Thinking about it Dumbarton's 6-0 thrashing of Ayr will be hanging heavy in the air. Ayr were a bit depleted that day and im sure will have a point to prove. Thing is to me Dumbarton can be as tight as a virgin turkeys arse before its laid an egg. Well maybe not away from home. I dunno. Dumbarton gave Ayr a solid enough game last time at somerset. I wouldnt like to pick a winner on this one.

Morton (4/7) Draw (3/1) Raith (5/1)
To me it just feels like a morton going day. Raith seem to have no attack at all and Morton will be wanting to get back to winning ways. Strong home side and Daizel seems to have fcuked about with the raith team and made them all hate him (no doubt) To me Mortons a cert but are they really worth heir 4/7 price? Maybe just to me.

Brechin (11/2) Draw (3/1) Clyde (1/2)
To me this is gonna be a lot tighter than the odds suggests. Prob a draw to me so im sitting it out barr throwing it on a 3 from 7 draw perm. Aye 3/1 for the draw is a nice wee bumper. I'll take a chance. Bah i can see Clyde wining it now. arrrgh im going mad :loon

I better stop for a moment.

Komp - you may be interested if you fancy Peterhead that Betfred has them at 11/10. I've taken that although i've never used Betfred before surprising for me!!! I've used nearly every other bookie in the world!!! Anyway they have a promotion on that if your bet come in they will give you another £100 max.

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

bloody hell Milners that a cracking price poss. Just having a read on Peterhead forum. This sums them up to me-

If you said to me at the start of the season that we'd take on Morton with some of our key players missing and beat them, I wouldn't have believed you. Yesterday we were without Raeside, Good, Spider, Shand, Hegarty and Bav but we more than matched the full timers and fully deserved the 3 points. It's a testiment to the players and coaching staff that we have the confidence and ability to go into these games believing that we can take the points. We have a good ability now throughout the squad and it really gives Stewartie some options when picking the team. I suppose he'll have a bit of a headache now that Michie's back on the scoresheet but it's a good headache to have.
I'll get a coupon tomorrow in shop. No promotion for me

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

Is it just me but i fancy heaps of bets in Scotland this weekend.

Airdrie 7/2 against Dundee - sorry but they are not a 7/2 shot and i'm sure they have beaten Dundee at Dundee in one of the cups. Airdrie is a bit on fire and a few dundee fans said they are the best team they have seen this season. Dundee have the 2nd best home form but looks a decent outside bet.

St Johnstone at 10/11 looks quite handy against a out of form Ross County side - St Johnstone have the best home form in the league!!!

Already went on about Peterhead, I like 11/10.

Patrick 11/10 - i like that. Stirling was very lucky at home to Dumbarton when according to the stirling lads they could have lost 5-0.

Dumbarton 11/5 is a price i really like - they have been playing really well of late but not getting results, Stirling when they could have won 5-0 forgot about the loco's match in the cup and also Gretna only beat them 1-0 and Dumbarton by the sounds of it could have got something out of the game.

Morton to beat a poor Raith side who have been getting thumped by the likes of Queens Park - price isn't great but i expected it to be lower. Could be 5pt noticed Victor chandler has knocked the price down.

Arbroath have been playing well of late but the away form concerns me but they will win sometime - 5/4 against a decent Albion team mmm tempted

Berwick 5/4 although will have to find out injury news as they have been struggling of late and are in poor form but East Fife haven't been good either.

Montrose 13/8 - I'm trying to work out why some bookies make Elgin favs here. They still have problems on and off the park. The youth squad couldn't play against Aberdeen in the youth cup so we got a bye - some are leaving. They have half a squad down in south and half up north that isn't good for team moral is it. Montrose new manager might start getting results 13/8 looks massive to me.

God even got a few in SPL - i normally struggle to have 4 or 5 on a card - This weekend/monday i fancy 11 teams!!! Saying that sometimes when i fancy heaps of teams i lose money compared to when i don't fancy much and have doubts about the teams i back that win - strange indeed!!!

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

Article about Elgin City from the P&J:

Elgin City are prepared to allow their entire youth squad to walk away from the club when the transfer window opens on January 1. The club has informed the SFA it will not be contesting the Scottish Youth Cup fourth-round tie scheduled for Pittodrie tonight as attempts are made to settle off-field problems. Aberdeen will progress to the quarter-final draw without having to play the game.

Scottish Professional Footballers' Association secretary Fraser Wishart chaired a meeting in Portlethen on Tuesday between City director Martyn Hunter and 20 of the youngsters employed by the club as part of the government funded Skillseeker programme. A group of parents also attended to question Hunter about what the future holds for their sons.

The players are employed on full-time contracts, but their jobs have been put in doubt by the recent takeover at Borough Briggs. Former assistant manager Kenny Black was the driving force behind the introduction of the Skillseeker scheme. When his attempt to buy the club failed, he and manager David Robertson resigned.

The duo have staged training sessions for the young players since then, with the permission of the club, but Wishart and his union are concerned a long-term answer has yet to be found. He said: "I am only interested in the players and in protecting them, not in taking sides about the ownership of the club. "Martyn Hunter came along to take part in the discussions and the club have said they will not stand in the way of any of the boys if they can find other clubs. That makes the next six-week period crucial. Once the transfer window closes at the end of January, the players still at the club will remain on the books at Elgin and on the wage bill." Some of the players have six months remaining on their current deals, but others have as long as 18 months left to run. Elgin have made it clear they want a swift resolution and Wishart added: "Elgin do not have the finances or the infrastructure to support full-time football in the long term. The wages are still being paid, but it is important we find a solution in the long term that suits both parties." Report from the Press & Journal.

good to see youve a few fancies Milners and glad to see you like some of mine. Interesting that about elgin. You think that maybe it will make the young lads play out their skin as theres bound to be a few coaches there to impress? Sorry i forgot it was the youth squad but a lot of them have been getting games lately (since the Berwick game) and theres bound to be a few of them playing on Sat with an aim to impress. Toughie. I still have a wee thing for Montrose though

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

Elgin youths had a game set up for U15, and U17 mixed game in Aberdeen without the board knowing. I think Black set it up to try and get some of the players at the club fixed with other clubs as their was scouts at the game. Not sure whats happened there but there is a lot of fighting on www.elgincity.com at the moment. Think most of the decent youths will leave and just leaving the rubbish players at the club. Still its nice to have a 25-year old in charge of the team!!! Think that will be for a few weeks.

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

aye you got to expect the experiaence of Montrose and Gilzean to relish the atmosphere at Ross Milners and get the 3pts and start climbing the league in search of the 4th spot (shit it 4 places for the playoffs?)

Looking at odds. From Div one im just for St Johnstone 10/11 Ladbrokes. Gonna perm the other 4 games in a draw perm with another.

Peterhead were 11/10 online but are now 4/5 Milners. I hope they have the 11/10 on their shop coupon. Think its gonna be a roller coaster but im gonna ride it. It could end up 4-3 to peterhead. If i could get a over 2.5 goals bet i would cover it with that too.

Morton 4/7 with Ladbrokes. Them and St johnstone in a nice double too i'll have as a wee xmas treat for myself. Bah deja vu. The 2 blues at home and something goes wrong. Nah their both primed and ready for this. Easy

Albion/Arbroath i might throw on my 3 from 5 draw line with the 4 div one games. I could throw Berwick in @ 5/4 Ladbrokes for doubles and trebles if team news suits but nah come on dont back a bloody team that cant score goals. Aye i must learn my lessons. Last year it was St Mirren at someone that everyone went daft on. Only after the game did it dawn on me that they hadnt won away for months and why should we have considered them. Berwick might have to prove themselves before i back them again. I havent backed them up till now on their bad run and i might try preserve that.

Cowdenbeath @ 4/11 (Corals, betfred) i could add to a 1/2 shot in an even money double. infact cowdenbeath/cowdenbeath @ 5/6 in corals could suit me. the 4/7 at skybet seems a bit more realistic to me. They aint gonna be fcuking about for anyone on sat.

I cant see me not backing Montrose on Sat and it will be part of one of my bets inc the above. 6/4 seems fair. The draw the draw nah its ok i fancy the win again. phew near went off them there. Montrose could be the best bet on the coupon poss

Stenhousemuir ar 5/6 with Ladbrokes and i wont be able to resist adding that to a line with everything.

Re: Scot's 1-2-3 Christmas Party Thread 24/26th Dec

PM my mate on a afc site about Elgin city and the youths situation, as i meet up with him at Aberdeen U19's, he knows a lot about youth football and also knows a few skillseekers from Elgin:

The only skillseeker involved with Elgin now is one lad froim up Elgin way - the others are all looking for teams. Aberdeen and Dundee United have both went after the left back, Iain Vigurs (U18) - by far the best prospect.

They are short of players - with a acouple of schoolboys being on the bench. They had a great win - first game - against Arbroath but the game against East Stirling was dire apparantly.

I understand centre forward Martin Johnston wants away as well.
