Re: Postponed Matches...

Betfair have not voided my bet and kept it on, pressumably for the rearranged game.

I disagree with this practice as I bet on the game to be played then. Fcuk knows when the rearranged game is but it isn't the game I want to bet on.

Anyone else in the sam boat / got an opinion?

Re: Postponed Matches...

I agree Amp...the policy is annoying both at Betfair and a few bookies. As you say when punters make their bets, they do it based on a set of conditions and information that is correct for when they beleive the game will be played, and a lot can happen between the postponement and the rearranged game. Of course whether the new developments are positive or negative for a bet is generally random, but nevertheless it removes some control from the punter.

But as ever, Betfair and others want to protect their profits.

Re: Postponed Matches...

Yeah. The best in question was against Stockport as they'd just sacked their manager and I was trying to take advantage of that (if any would eist but the point is that's why I made the bet coupled with their shite recent form and Torquay beginning to sort themselves out).

If the game's played a week Wednesday or whenever (I pressume their'd at least be a game played inbetween) then it's a different set of circumstances entirely. i'd be livid if I had a lot of money tied up in such a circumstance.

AMP, not sure what the timescale is for bookies/betfair voiding bets in postponed matches but it's certainly not a week or more. Think some firms give the punter the option of voiding the bet as soon as its confirmed the game is off, while others will let it run for 2 or 3 days.

Re: Postponed Matches...

I'm sure a few years ago I had this very argument in a Hills shop & was informed it was something stupid like 7 days....which isnt really going to affect league games apart from some small ones in Scotland possibly. The one in question for me (I think) was Newcastle under Sir Bobby in the europe, possibly the Champs League group stages ?? It was waterlogged but they played the following night.

Re: Postponed Matches...

Taken off the Hills 'football rules' - not that I use them online as theyre rarely top price at anything:

"An unplayed, postponed or abandoned match will be treated as a 'Non-Runner' for settling purposes unless it is played during the same 'Football Week' (Monday - Monday (GMT / BST Time), in which case the bet will stand unless cancelled by mutual consent. If 'Non-Runners' reduce an accumulator, the remaining selections will be settled irrespective of the minimums detailed in Rule 2. Under no circumstances will the judgement of any 'Pools Panel' be accepted as a result."

If I remember rightly I had other winners involved & expected it paid as a non-runner, but they informed me in the shop after ringing head office that although the weather was still horrendous they were officially trying to play the following night, but I argued that I knew there was injury news on the night that had led me to take the bet, but they wouldnt have it. One of the strikers had flu or something....anyway, they did indeed play the following night in a swimming bath & the bloke concerned played if I remember correctly & although I cant remember the result it screwed my bet....& I didnt bet in Hills again
