Re: English Prem 31st Dec
Swoops - Weir got dropped for that game. We brought Kroldrup in for his first start since his 5m move and he got injured so Weir came back in

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
As far as I'm concerned, Wigan to beat Blackburn at odds against has to be one of the bets of the season - Kiko's already highlighted the home and away form of the two teams, yet is backing against it. For me this is a comfortable home win and until the bookies realise Wigan are not going to fade away there is going to be superb value on them at home.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
I remember now. Giving Kroldrup the benefit as it was his first game, but I thought him & Yobo looked terrible.......& Weirs worse ??

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
See where your coming from Dave i have to say. I did state i was weary of their home form but i feel they let their standards drop against sides like Blackburn.
Against your Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle etc they really go 100%entire game. Maybe due to the glamour of the clubs they face but they aren't so convincing against the rest performance wise.
I feel this is a really tough time for sides like Wigan in the cramped festive period where there squads will be tested to the bone.
Blackburn to me are just more all round and solid compared with Wigan's side.
Could definately argue a case for both sides to win the game mind, hence why i think the Asian handicap is the best bet to go with i thought.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
Also like i said i wouldn't look into the away record, but the perfrmances that Blackburn put in where they have been very very unfortunate not to pick up some more points thanks to world class goals from the opposition and goalkeeping heroics.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
I will say one further thing on the matter and then leave it to see what happens - if I was Gett1n this would be one of those bets that buys holidays. As it is I'll have to settle for a good night out
I just cannot see why anyone in their right mind would even look at any other match on the coupon, let alone not back Wigan in this one.
Good luck Kiko

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
I dont have massive opinions on whether Wigan or Blackburn are a good bet but Kiko its not true that Wigan havent been impressive against the 'lesser' sides. Thats where all there wins have come from - they lost to all the best teams.
Actually looking at it you can get Wigan at 5/4 on betfair which really looks a decent bet. Its certainly the way Id be going if I were to stake. Ive won 2 out of my last 18 bets currently though which is probly my worst run ever so will probly steer clear as to give Dave a chance at least of winning his bet
Swoops - Yobo is a really good defender, pacy and great in the air. Very occasionally prone to a blunder but all round v.good. Kroldrup I have no clue if hes good. Weir can be very good but is getting old, slow and making too many mistakes. Valente is awful too as I stated before.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
I said performance wise against the lesser sides, not results. Their standards really seem to drop and i thik Blackburn are a side that will definately beone to take advantage of this.
Should be a bag of goals too i reckon.
May the best man win

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
Wigan @ home for me, they havent buckled after losing to the big boys a few weeks back when they lost about 3 on the bounce but have continued where they left off by disposing of regular prem opposition quite easily.
Should be an interesting game as Blackburn are just as physical but I cannot see Wigan shunning the challenge epsecially at home and if anything they are a lot more physical up front especially now Roberts is on form as he's very hard to stop.
Over evens too on the home which seemed to stand out compared to the miserly odds on the other atractive matches.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
Aston Villa - Arsenal "over" 1.95 @ gamebookers seems a good bet to me, Two teams are still vulnerable at defence and have talented strikers.

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
nice reading of the thread again there slick
Anyway on the Wigan side kiko , I would definately put Man City on a par with BBurn , that's how I would look at this fixture. They easily swept past us and if you're looking for complacency I think it's BBurn who may not be as fired up for this . I haven't witnessed Wigan dropping their standards at all this season save for when they were thumped at the swamp.
No bet for me here but as Dave says they are good odds considering and would be much shorter were it not for the fact that they are Wigan
good luck anyroad

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
Well my idea for bets this time are for 'overs'...on all the games. Tired legs, injuries, suspensions , smaller squads getting stretched now , etc....all of these make for an interesting mix on Saturday...I SEE GOALS....LOTS OF GOALS.
I can't believe Spurs got turned over by WBA, but all reports indicate they were pish and deserved to lose...so leaving them well alone for now.
Wigan look a good bet in their current form. Roberts , and in particular Camara are in fine fettle, with the defence and midfield holding their shape and form as well.
Arse should be able to take the points , and the odds look decent.
Charlton really need this one...West Ham minus some key players so it's a good chance for them.
Chelsea should show the benefit of a large squad and fresh legs...narrow win? Who knows!
Liverpool minus Morientes for the next 2 ties, Crouch /Cisse will be the front duo...another 3pts..easy
Manyoo face a tough one against the Trotters...could be a bet on AH Bolton +1.25 @ 1.85...tempting
Sticking with Fulham against Pompey...they are scoring well, and even if they do fall apart in the closing 15 mins sometimes, they look a better performing squad at the moment. Fulham minus a few key players, and Pompey welcome some back..but I am keeping the faith!

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
nah that was last week. its 8/11 i think. (i never got out my chair btw)
I like your thinking in the tired legs etc Eddy. There will be europeans wearing gloves and maybe a bit disinterested mind. They'll just want the game to end. I dunno but good luck Eddy. I'll have a look at the shops over under coupon and could follow. I aint so confident on the Villa arsenal game to be OVER Farnerud. Just a feeling. I think Arsenal will be happy enough for a 1 goal win and Villa might not get too many chances. Again just a feeling as i dont know really.
Aye im with Kiko and Was on Blackburn. Feels good to me. Gerrintathum Blackburn . 2-0 up ht they'll be. Easy

Re: English Prem 31st Dec
I like United @1/2
Saw them against Brum and to be honest tehy should have pissed all over the Blues. Rooney was top notch as was RVN and Alan smith.
Brums 2nd goal was a bit of a fluke IMO.
Boltons last three league games:
Sunderland 0-0 Bolton
Wigan 2-0 Bolton
Everton 0-4 Bolton
Not great, even the everton result because tehy are gash.
Also Bolton are missing El-Hadji Diouf and Ivan Campo (suspended) and Henrik Pedersen is sidelined through injury.
Only Louis Saha missing for United.
I like Backing united @ Home and ill have a nibble @ this 1/2.
