Re: Non League 2nd Jan

Cheers Swoops and happy new year to you fella.

@rse. Tipped Moor Green last week on the NL thread @ 11/10 with Bet 365 and see from the above that they've been cut now. Still, I'm on.

On a few bets for tomorrow but at 1am here struggling to remember.

Maximum'd on Bedford at Alysebury (8/11).

Have to go as getting accosted...

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

I've got my fingers in a few tasty pies so it's been a while but I may as do one. Lets

AMPS EYE

Conference

The bet of the day in this section is Morecambe at home to Southport. They played the reverse fixture last week and Morecambe spanked them 3-0 away. Short odds on aren't everyones thing but seeing as I'd agree with Corals quote of 2/7 if I wasn't so over commited this week I'd be tempted for a large one at bet365's 4/9.

Quick analysis (as many matches to cover). Southport rock bottom, haven't scored in 6 games (including an FA cup tie) which they lost. They haven't won since Oct 7th and I gather some players have left the newly promoted side.

Morecambe fourth, dependable and have filled AMP's war chest throughout the season. Few freak results but this is their home form:

3 Morecambe 10 8 1 1 23 6 +17 25

Against Southport's away:

22 Southport 10 1 1 8 5 18 -13 4

A mirror image almost. Morecambe conceed very little at home and Southport couldn't score in one of the bars off Koh San Road.

I've very rarely bet HT/FT over the last two seasons and when I do I invariably get rogered like the aforementioned Bangkok denizens. However, Bet365 have an amazing market up for this and I've availed myself of the -1 @ a nice 2.0 for 3 points.

What else floats my boat hupothetically in this league?

Well, Burton do actually. 3/2/1 their last 6. I considered backing them on Saturday (when they got an away win at Kiddeminster). They played opponents Tamworth a few weeks back and drew 1-1 away. Recently burton have been on the up and their home form is excellent, winning 5 from 6 of their last league games and drawing the other. Is evens available? Let's check...

Nah, its not there. Some nice previews of the games / links here:

A word of warning for those thinking of backing Hereford against FGR. I'm looking to back FGR soon as they're in good form and their recent signing, Striker Guy Madjo from Bristol City scored twice at the weekend and they could be overpriced in games to come.

Conference North

As I posted earlier I backed Moor Green as soon as the odds came out to repeat their recent 1-0 win against troubled Redditch. Moor green have had a great festive period, underlined by their recent 2-0 away win to Worksop. 3/2/1 last 6 games. Redditch are the reverse 1/2/3 with players leaving due to financial diffuculties. I've had 5 points on this one.

What else? Nuneaton should do hednesford but I won't touch that for less than even and 4/5 is the best around.

There's a major price discrepency on Stafford away to Worcester.

The normally generous Stan James go 10/11, 365 evens and sky bet 6/5
Stafford went joint top after beating favourites Northwich 2-0 last game whilst Stafford were getting spanked 4-0 away to hyde, making in 0 wins in 4.
Worcester are 18th and one thing that stops me piling in heavy into this oneas 6/5 is a joke (I'd tend to agree with Stan James on this one) is that Stafford played them at home on Boxing day and were matched in a 1-1 draw.

3 points on the away for me as the odds are too generous.

Thanks to Bishop for pointing out Eastliegh's troubles. They're another clun that have hit financial difficulties. This comes from a "player" posting on their forum:

I've just read the club statement and cannot believe what it said. The facts are the gaffer was told two weeks ago to cut the budget by £1000. That is why there is no Neville Roache, no Tyronne Bowers, no Barry Mason, no replacement goal keeper. The gaffer asked us if we would all chip in some money to make up the difference. What is going on at this club is not right.

They played todays opponents Basingstoke at home on Boxing day (their last game) and got spanked 3-0. lost their last four. As Eastleigh's star has waned so Basingstoke's aided by some new signings has risen. 3 wins on the trot including last time at home against 2nd place Havant (I think Havant's Rocky Baptiste was sent off in that one though - quick aside he is banned today).

I've taken 5 points @ 1.8 with Skybet for this one.

Another two teams replaying recent fixtures are Farnboro and Maidenhead. In the home tie Farnborough won 3-1 and apparently it should've been a lot more but 2-0 up at HT the game was apparently never in doubt.

Maidenhead stung me at the weekend as they battled well to a 3-3 win away to Eastbourne. However, they again conceeded three goals and their form is:

22 Maidenhead United 6 0 2 4 7 23 -16

Compared to Farnboro's

6 Farnborough Town 6 3 1 2 10 7 +3

Maidenhead are missing a couple of players through suspension for this one also.

Again, divided opinion on this one but Stan James go 10/11 and Sky 11/10. i've had 4 points with Sky.

Anymore in the "sexy" south?

I liked Yeading to do the double over Hayes in their home rematch having beaten them 1-0 away last week. I've just examined the Yeltz's home form and it's non too impressive though and it makes me shun the appetizing 6/5 on offer.

I've just talked myself into 2 points on St Albans at Bishop Storford as I feel the 6/5 on them is too high. This game sees 18th entertain 3rd and they met on Boxing day with St. A's beeing 3 goals to the good winners. St A's have had a few dodgy results of late but they do seem quite capable of going away and scoring a few goals. they've only failed to score once in all league games this season and are 45 goals to 20 games - an impressive return.

Just the two points for me on that one.

Right, this has taken longer than expected so I'll be back later with some picks from the lower levels...

Anyone see any reason not to back Weymouth away to Dorchester today? Nah me neither, 100pts it is

Seriously tho 10 wins on the bounce for Weymouth now so why not back them at near evens. Dorchester are better away from home anyway and Weymouth beat them 1-0 game before last to boot.

10/11 at bookies or 1.95 afta commission on betfair does me.

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

Agree with AMP on Farnboro away to Maidenhead. I cant see me talking my way out of this one at 11/10.

Maidenhead have conceded a mighty 52 goals in 20 games. Farnboro are one of the best scorers with 36 goals. Maidenhead are awful going down in their last 3 homes conceding 4 in each. Farboro pretty useful knocking on the playoff door and on good form winning last 3 games. Gotta be taken at against odds.

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

I don't usually like backing against my teams but I was at the Boxing Day match between Morecambe and Southport and to be honest it was men against boys. There will be little change in the team line ups from then and can't see it being much different today, especially with it being at Morecambe. On Boxing Day, Southport's keeper was man of the match in my opinion which says a lot as it finished 3-0 to Morecambe. Whilst personally I do not bet at odds as short as 2/5, I am tempted by the 6/5 on offer for Morecambe to win by 2 or more goals with Bet 365 (although I should have got on yesterday when it was still 13/10). Not the type of bet I would usually go for, nor do I back against one of my teams very often, but the sensible punter in me tells me there is cracking value in this bet.

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

Cheers Bishop for your input. Guess I'm a "sensible punter" then!

I'll stick up some Southern / Unibond / Ryman fancies soon. just been unblocking my toilet (36 hours without "dropping the kids off" and a tentative one today has left me in a foul mood) for the lst hour or say and now my computers fcuked with low virtual memory. Lovely.

Oh and Muze I take your point re Weymouth but apparently the home match was a tight affair and it's a big local derby. However, they did get spanked at Histon 4-1 Saturday so you could be onto a winner there mate. How did the family poker tournie go btw?

Yes I was just coming into say id backed the 6/5 on the Morecambe -1 I rate it as no worse than an Evens shot and your input gives me further confidence Bish

Haha AMP I came joint 2nd out of the 7 players with my Dad taking the trophy, theres always next year

p.s I read a report on Weymuff game and altho Dorch had chances it said that Weymouth took an early lead then had 2 cleared off the line and hit the bar. fact is theyve won 10 in a row so I MUST back it! Good luck on your max bet AMP

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

Cheers mate. if i ever get round to the Southern league I'll mention how Alyesbury played with 4 or a 5 reserve players and the rest were made up of youth team players. their new striker from hitchin was actually moved to right midfield when one of the subs came on (when a couple of goals down) so that leads me to believe they must really be struggling to fill positions.

Bedford 3 away wins on the bounce ( including Merthyr and Chippenham) but they were held at home at the weekend. Still Bedford are a promotion chasing fourth and now Alyesbury have taken just one point from 15 (1-1 draw with Chesham who are also in financial trouble).

I've just read that following budget cuts and a tonking to neighbours Yate the managemnt duo at Gloucester have rescinded on their decision to quit and gone. The oods against have also gone and 5/6 is the best i can see.

Also Corals have bottled the Southern prem but they have odds out for Conf South and North. The big news is that Basingstoke are a massive 10/11 so i'm going to read up before deciding whether to have some more.

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

yeah, was thinking about being stung by them fcukers the other day (and routinely by Stan James in the past) but I stopped myself from getting too angry because normally in these markets the odds go in our favour if you take them early. Bit gutted I missed the 10/11 on Sailsbury as that looks like a great bet.

Re: Non League 2nd Jan

Burton v Tamworth

This is our traditional New Years derby fixture. On past seasons no matter how badly we are playing at the time, we usually go to the Lamb and get a draw and then take all three points back at our place in the reverse fixture. As AMP points out in an earlier post we have already secured the draw at Tamworth on Boxing day and I fully expect us to beat them today 3-1. The reasons for this are as far as I am aware we do not have any new injuries and we are playing better at this stage of the season than in seasons past when have still managed to beat Tamworth at our place. We have the big match next week with Man Utd in the cup and Nigel could suprise us and rest some players for that game but I do not think he will as a good result today could see us into the top half of the conference for the first time in ages.

Jesus I really cant believe the price on Bedford there! They really dont know anything do they pricing these up at last minute! Odds should be 1/2 MAX so 6/5 is absolute gift it really is. Lets make Coral pay!
