Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

i'll post the teams for albion v EastStirling that day while im in

East Stirlingshire : Jackson, MacKay, Tyrrell, Oates, Smith, Walker, Brand, Thywissen (Ure 84), Diack (Dymock 79), Graham, Livingstone. Subs Not Used : Blair, Owen, Gillespie.

Albion Rovers : Ewings, Friel (Reid 65), McGhee, O'Neil, Lennon, Bonnar, Chisholm, Wilson (Chaplain 42), Wallace, Donachy, Mathie (Franch 61). Subs Not Used : Donnelly, Quinn.

Dundee aint beaten Stranraer in 3 this season already but i do still fancy them too. Im gonna back against stranraer as much as i can from now till the end of the season. 4/6 is almost fair. Nah it aint...aye team news etc important on this one. I could/should still take Stranraer to get a right doing sometime soon.

Stranraer Dundee FC 0:0
2.83 3.33 2.14 Sat 03-12-2005

Dundee FC Stranraer
1:1 1.54 3.64 5.10 Sat 15-10-2005

League Cup
Stranraer Dundee FC 3:1
3.17 3.37 1.96 Tue 23-08-2005

From memory they were unlucky in the draws and the defeat was just a game that went against them imo.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

ps i reckon Diak was instrumental in east Stirling's win. Albion are due a rare home win poss. The 1-1's the worry though to me

did anyone mention Spartan's being unbeaten all of last season in their league?

According to this mornings Metro, Alloa v Livi will almost certainly be cancelled this weekend. Frost in the pitch and almost no chance of it going according to the club.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

One of the guys on the betfair forum posted this quite interesting thread, Queens Park like to play football do they!!!.

I have been to Spartans, if Queens Park get any sort of result there they will have done well. The pitch has a very steep slope and looks like it has never seen a groundsman. It has has virtually no existing facilities for fans. My money will be on Spartans, but with my record the past 6 weeks you should probably all pile on QP!

3. Possibly Colin Samuel who was injured against Rangers
4. Speculation surrounding Mark Wilson too with a 500k tag being placed on him... I hgave heard he will be sold in January as there is no more money from Eddie Thompson to fund signings.

Was at Pittodrie on Saturday and was encouraged by 2nd half perfromance.
Good luck Mr Chips and i hope it comes in.

But I'll never back the dons till i see major improvement from the players. Yes the second half was encouraging against Inverness but 1 half in 4 games is not good enough for me. I do think Dundee Utd have a good team that on paper looks a good side but like Aberdeen don't play in paper. I really don't know what going to happen in this game - could go either way although slighty fancy a draw.

Here is the Scottish FA Cup record between the sides, bit worrying that Aberdeen has only won 1 in 5:

Scottish FA Cup Dundee United 4-1 Aberdeen 27-02-2005
Scottish FA Cup Dundee United 0-1 Aberdeen 12-03-2000
Scottish FA Cup Dundee United 1-0 Aberdeen 24-01-1998

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

I'm gonna kick things off with:

5pts Hearts @ 1.62 with Stan James

Price just looks too big to me - and I think Hearts are playing well enough to see off Killie easily enough.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

If Hearts play as they did in 1st half v Celtic then they will see any side off at Tynecastle with that sort of display.

Hoepfully they will have gotten over the psychological pain of losing the game in the way they did after putting so much into it.

Speaking to a Hearts fan at work yesterday he was saying there was lots of talk between Xmas and New Year off players not being happy with Rix and players having secret meetings etc. Doesn't sound all ship shape at Tynie.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

i was speaking to some killie fans after the killie hibs game on monday (i backed hibs) they all expect to get more at Celtic the following week than at Hearts. They seemed it was inevitable that Hearts will beat them and not one of them was expecting anything

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

Looks like St Johnstone have a few injury problems - backed gretna due to this and also having quality players like tosh in their team who i would love to be at Aberdeen.

PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR SCOTTISH CUP TIE
4 JANUARY 2006

It was back into a routine for the players today following the festive run of fixtures and they have the opportunity to put the disappointing points haul achieved over those games behind them and concentrate on a fresh challenge – the Tennent’s Scottish Cup.

This Saturday sees the first ever match between Saints and Gretna when the Raydale Park side come to Perth for a 3rd round tie and it’s a match being relished by Owen Coyle.

Talking to the Saints Official Website this afternoon the Saints gaffer said, “The Cup is always special and it provides a welcome break from the league campaign. I’ve been very fortunate to have reached the final of the competition as a player and I know that Saints have managed the semi-final stages a couple of times over the past decade or so and we will be going all out to make an impact in this year’s competition.”

Given Gretna’s meteoric rise in the Scottish game in the past couple of years, the players don’t need any warning about the potential pitfalls of coming up against a so-called “lower league” side and Coyle has been stressing that point to his players. “Gretna have some SPL standard players in their team and their record of wins and the goals they have scored in the process speaks for itself. I actually think it has the makings of a really great game. It is up to us as the home side to take the game to them and we as a club have to patch ourselves up and do just that.”

The patching up referred to by the Manager comes in the wake of the continuing run of terrible luck regarding injuries. Steven Milne and Neil Janczyk will be assessed as the remaining days to the game progress but both are rated as extremely doubtful, with Milne using crutches to minimise the strain on the cartilage that took a heavy knock against Dundee.

Darren Sheridan’s current ban relates to league games only and means he can play against Gretna although he will miss the trip to Broadwood the following week and Simon Mensing is suspended – a throw back to a caution picked up in the Cup when he was with Clyde last season.

Kevin Fotheringham has felt no ill-effects from his two runs as a substitute and Manager Coyle is hoping that the player has put his injury woes behind him. Owen said, “Kevin has acquitted himself well in the two games and it is all about getting matches under his belt now and weather permitting I’m hoping to get a bounce game for him at some point this week. If we can get a game I’ll also give a run out to a trialist. I’m actively pursuing other transfer targets.”

Correct, Pat Clarke back to Raith, and yes, we will miss him.

Arbroath will have 1 striker for Saturdays game, after Brazil got a straight red against Montrose on the 2nd, and us only having 2 strikers in our whole squad!

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January

i better get myself together a bit. Ladbrokes and betfred odds will be out. lemme see what their saying

Bah laddies aint priced up Spartans v QP. so poss bets will be

Queens Park @ 11/10 Corals
Aberdeen @ 9/5 Hills (ht/ft 9/2 ladbrokes)
Hearts @ 8/13 Ladbrokes
Ayr @ 11/1 Ladbrokes (ht/ft @ 33/1 )
Motherwell @ 6/5 (general) i could be talked into this one
Dundee 4/6 (general) (ht/ft 13/8 @ Coral)

Think the hearts/Dundee double will be my fav bet of the weekend. I aint going daft as probably none of the above would make my coupon on a normal week
