Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January
The problem as mentioned though is that Partick will miss Dorrans and Santala, two of their most important players up until now. McConalogue might fill the void, but its an awfy big void. Stirling gave them a 3-0 shoeing at Firhill recently too.

Reply on Montrose today from a Montrose fan
Quote:
Webster's injured. Not sure about Kerrigan today.
Basically there was a slight improvement in the last quarter against Elgin and E Fife. Can't say personally about the Arbroath game as i wasn't there but by all accounts we were poor.
Wolecki has brought in 5 new players this week, all young guys, and is beginning to ditch the old guard. I think that is his plan - to develop his own players from a young age. Basically, the team and manager are finding their feet, so it's anybody's guess as to how today will go. Hopefully promising times ahead for the club - but maybe not so much this season.

Think its prob best to wait a bit on Montrose. They better not bloody win easy now
Intersting bit in The Record about Alex Williams and his gambling
Quote:
MORTON BOSSES CALLED ME IN AND ASKED IF I'D WON £170K BETTING AIRDRIE WOULD BEAT US TO TITLE
Exclusive TENNENT'S SCOTTISH CUP COUNTDOWN Alex: Smear campaign almost forced me to quit
By Gary Ralston
ALEX WILLIAMS has hit out at the gossip merchants for labelling him a bevvy merchant who pocketed £170,000 in a betting scam that cost his former club the title.
The Clyde striker has never suffered a serious injury in his life but admitted moving to Broadwood in the summer to mentally rehabilitate a career that was almost ruined by a cruel whispering campaign.
That is why facing up to Roy Keane and Celtic in the third round of the Tennent's Scottish Cup at Broadwood on Sunday is child's play compared to fronting allegations that would have folded most players.
In fact, 22-year-old Williams, who has hit 10 goals so far this season, has already freely admitted he was ready to turn his back on the game six months ago to join the army.
But under Graham Roberts he is finally living up to the promise that made him one of the most talked-about youngsters in the lower leagues when he burst on to the scene at Stirling Albion six years ago.
Williams confessed his career stalled in his last two controversial seasons at Morton when he was caught up in booze and betting scandals - allegations he vigorously denies to this day.
Firstly, he was called in by club bosses at Cappielow towards the end of the 2003-2004 season and quizzed about rumours that he and a teammate had put £10,000 on Airdrie at 16-1 to win the Second Division title.
The Greenock rumour mill had gone into overdrive after the club suffered an astonishing post-Christmas collapse after losing only one game in the opening half of the campaign.
They finally finished fourth in the table behind the Diamonds and the finger of suspicion lingered, even after boss John McCormack investigated and fully cleared his squad of allegedly organising a betting ring.
Last season was also a write-off for Williams, who admitted to drinking two bottles of beer the day before a game and was told by boss Jim McInally his career at the club was over.
The rumour mill went into overdrive again, this time with suggestions he was on the sauce so often he could lay claims to being the illegitimate son of George Best and Sue Ellen Ewing.
Williams said: "I've made a few daft mistakes in my career but I realised when I moved to Clyde in the summer it was the opportunity for a clean slate and to start all over again.
"Some of the stories that have followed me around have been ridiculous. All I want to do is play football and score goals in the game I love.
"I've tried not to let it get to me but I've had a******* opposition fans shouting at me during games about a betting scam in which I was allegedly involved but which was nonsense.
"I was even called in by the manager and chairman at Morton and confronted with the rumour that I had supposedly acted with a team-mate and put 10 grand on Airdrie to win the title at 16-1.
"The rumours started on the internet and when I was first asked about it I said, 'Are you serious?'
"I told them a slip must surely exist if I'd won £170,000 but, of course, it didn't because it didn't happen.
"Players have more time on their hands than other workers and I like a flutter but the most I've ever gambled is £30 or £40 - nothing massive.
"In the end the rumours were so ridiculous I told the gaffer to put the story in the paper and I've tried never to let it get to me

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January
Having seen St Mirren on 3 occasions this year (with Dundee) - i have been very unimpressed and struggle to get my head around the league positions!! Furthermore, my pal in the west actually is a season ticket holder at love street and reckons they have been very fortunate at home on a number of occasions this season. I reckoned that Motherwell would be nearer odds on so that price does look tempting.
Saw ST J last week and again Dundee are unbeaten against them this year. For all the money and players that STJ brought in during the summer, they are no better than average and i'd say they have real problems scoring goals...............maybe the reason that Coyle is thinking of playing today!! However, i suspect they may still be good eough today.
Been quite impressed with Hamilton and unimpressed with QOS. Thank god them and Brechin are in our league or lord knows where the Dees would be! Not only that but i don't have much time for big head Mccall but Hamilton odds on away? Hmmm......don't like backing odds on teams away from home and can't bring myself to do it in this case.
Dundee? Well who knows........the team v St Mirren turn up or the team v the likes of Clyde or Airdrie!!!! Not conceding many goals (apart from the airdrie debacle) and have done OK at home - i am tempted to back them. Lost anderson yesterday but in truth that is no great loss as he as been a liability n the team - unfortunately makes the threadbare squad even worse but the young lads have more than performed this year. Odds on at home? Think i'd rather take the 4/6 for dundee than the 8/11 away for Hamilton.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January
Hello all, first time posting in here
After reading through the threads (thanks for all the excellent news guys!) I've decided to back Motherwell at -1/4 2.00 and Gretna +1/4 1.79 (could have gotten a better price if I didn't take my time to read through the threads )
I'm contemplating on Hearts -1, might take it before the match kicks off and hopefully a better price at it.
I generally bet on asian handicap and over/under only

Yeah, the Hearts one was one of the few rare games that interested me.
I think -1 AH may be a good bet because Killie do score and concedce a few but against the Hearts defence I dont think they'll score too many (if at all) so, heopefully, that would leave them still letting in one or two.
Still dithering on it of course.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January
Looks like a good day again folks...
Hearts came home for a few of us despite a few late scares - Hibs dealt with the handicap for many (cheers Para - changed my mind on those correct scores after your post and switched to this .GIF) ) - Mr Chips on Aberdeen - Gretna HT @ 3/1 as mentioned by Komp.
Close calls were Snowman on Alloa getting denied in the 90th min, Komp's Ayr fancy coming mighty close, and Airdrie beating Dunfermline and me not bothering with the bet, all at big odds
Motherwell look like the only side which disappointed.

Re: Scottish Cup - 6/7/8 January
Aye well done yourself Beanie. Queens Park were well beaten i was reading. Could have lost by more Lucky i never had it in the tipping challenge with big fat mouthy Gett1n (he wont read this as he only looks at english bets for half hour sat morning
Gretna ht was my main bet and it was good to get. Partick/Partick @ 9/2 looks pretty big now but i think they werent really worth the win. Ayr/Ayr @ 33's i suppose had chances. I took aberdeen ht/ft so that was a bit of a fcuk. Well done to all those on Aberdeen. Be good to get back to league business and a full schedule hopefully next week.
Berwick still cant score a goal. Liked this from a St J fan-

We were awful today, first half especially. Took Gretna 10 minutes to get into the game, took us about 60!

i told you they were late starters
