12 Mar-14:30 T.N.S. v Newi Cefn Druids 1.07 7.50 17.00
Bangor , Carmarthen and Rhyl playing re-arranged cup matches.
First impression Caersws, Welshpool , TNS home wins .Caersws only one worth considering because of price.
I really like Llanelli @2.10 away- should be playing tomorrow , there is a doubt - see midweek thread

Re: Welsh Premier League March 10th/11th/12th
Good stuff for Llanelli will have to get on that - perhaps with TNS as a double (not really worth it but still every penny counts) or even in a treble with Welshpool. Other than that it seems slim pickings for me. No doubt it will become clearer with team news.

Quote:
Llanelli 2-0 Connah's Quay Jan 29 2006
Wales on Sunday
LLANELLI are now poised to take over in second place, provided they win their games in hand, and this was a comfortable victory.
In truth, they should have been out of sight by half time, but had only a third-minute strike by Cortez Belle to show for all their first-half dominance.
He was put clear by Ivan Nofuentes and rounded keeper Paul Smith to tap the ball into an empty net.
For the rest of the half, Smith made a string of good saves, with two excellent stops denying Nick Harrhy.
The second half was much more stop-start, and it took 20 minutes for the Stebonheath faithful to breathe a sigh of relief at the second.
A big kick from keeper Duncan Roberts was collected by Ivan Nofuentes just outside the area.
There seemed little danger but he made room and fired home to clinch the three points.
this one more biased from Llanelli's site
Quote:
28 Jan 2006
Llanelli 2 - 0 Connah's Quay Nomads report by Alan Evans
A seventh consecutive league success earned the Reds three more points with January proving to a fruitful month with a maximum return from the five matches played - an achievement which elevates.
The latest contast should have been over before the break as the as the home side squandered a number of gilt edged chances, but they got off to a flyer with Cortez Belle latching on to a superb through ball by Ivan Nofuentes before rounding goalkeeper Paul Smith and slotting into an empty net after just three minutes.
It was not entirely one way traffic with the visitors hitting back through Stuart Cooke who blasted over when well placed, while Nick Harrhy had his effort at the other end dafely held by Smith.
The Nomads keeper did well to push clear a fierce volley from Harrhy, and his opposite number, Duncan Roberts, in the Reds goal got down well to smother a shot by Phil Molyneaux.
Harrhy then saw another opportunity go begging when palyed in by Belle his effort being blocked by Smith from close range, and a mazy run by Jacob Mingorance past three defenders set up Belle for a shot which he screwed wide of the near post.
A good build up involving Belle and Chris Thomas again led to Harrhy being found in sapce in the area, but again Smith denied him with another fine stop.
Neil Thomas should have increased the lead on the stroke of half time when he burst through the middle before drilling his attempt over the Nomads bar.
With just the solitary success going into the second period, the reds were put under pressure by their opponents who came close to an equaliser when a free kick into the box led to the loose ball being hammered by Molyneaux off a post and deflect for a corner.
This gave the visitors encouragement but their finishing was poor although when Gary O'Toole found Molyneaux his shot cannoned off Antonio Corbisiero but was safely held by Roberts.
The nerves of the hosts were calmed somewhat when they got a second after 65 minutes when Nofuentes collected a kick out by Roberts and still had plenty to do before unleashing a shot from the edge of the box which beat Smith inside his near post.
Mongorance made a surging run up the right and his delivery into the middle saw Nofuentes narrowly fail to make contact in front of goal, and Smith again came to the rescue to keep out a point blank range effort by Nofuentes.
With time runningout, both sides went close with Roberts bringing off two superb blocks in quick succession to deny firstly O'Toole and then the rebound from Stuart Rain, while the latter should have done better when through on goal but fired wide of the upright.
Just before the final whistle, Craig Williams unleashed a volley on target which was brilliantly turned over by Smith.
Connah's Quay do not update their site very often
|
So i've placed my money on them again.I now have two bets on Llanelli in the next few days.
8 Mar-19:30 Porthmadog[12th] v Llanelli[2nd] 2@ 1.80
11 Mar-14:30 Connah's Quay[15th] v Llanelli[2nd] 2@ 2.10
The Port game is "doubtful" , Port current form is much worse than Connah's Quay

Re: Welsh Premier League March 10th/11th/12th
Traeth, did Llanelli lose their only game against Aber? Would you advise a little treble with Welshpool, TNS and Caersws? I love the welsh football threads, always insightful and gives me something to look at on a dull day.

Re: Welsh Premier League March 10th/11th/12th
Porthmadog [12th]v Newtown [11th]
Porthmadog have been going through a lean period lately , the two recent wins were both against bottom of the table Grange.Port had a free week last Saturday , they lost the previous Saturday 1-4 at home to Haverfordwest[5th].I watched this game and they were outplayed in the second half.
Newtown have had a terrible run since the beginning of December which started with a loss to TNS[1st] , since then their only league win were against Cwmbran [17th] and Grange [18th]. Last Saturday could be the start of the revival when they held Haverfordwest to a 1-1 draw .The match report HERE gives the impression that Newtown were the better side on the day.
Port have quite a few injuries lately and I do not have much confidence in them .This is the type of game they must win ,but I cannot see them doing it. With the return of Danny Barton [striker ] I feel Newtown will be a dangerous side.So I am going against my homeside .
Porthmadog v Newtown 2@3.20
This from my local paper which outlines Port's fitness problems , it must be noted some have been long term.
Mar 9 2006 By Paul Scott, Caernarfon Herald
Quote:
THE walking wounded of Porthmadog are looking to bounce back from defeat in their last Welsh Premier League outing when they play on Saturday but any hopes that their enforced week off might have given injured players time to re-cover in time for this weekend have proven futile.
The Traeth club still have a number of men on the sidelines ahead of their home meeting with Newtown on Saturday.
Long-term casualty Ryan Davies is still expected to be out for another two to three weeks, Gareth Parry is not expected back for another 10 days and Tony Williams is unavailable because of an ankle injury.
Captain Lee Webber is a doubt with a hamstring strain but bosses Viv Williams and Osian Roberts are hopeful Gareth Caughter and Danny Hughes will be available after their injuries.
Saturday's opponents Newtown are fairly handy travellers and joint-manager Roberts is expecting a tough match.
Unbeaten in their last two games, the Robins pick up points more often than not on their travels and have in their side one of the Welsh Premier's chief dangermen.
Roberts said: "They had a good result against Haverfordwest on Saturday (1-1) and they beat us comfortably when we played them at their place. "They had a bad run but that coincided with the loss of striker Danny Barton but he's back now and he's one of the best strikers in the league."
Roberts is hoping the Port players not suffering with injuries will be fresh after their week's break from action as he believes his side have to kick on now and show what they're made of.
He is looking for greater discipline as the season enters its crunch stage.
Roberts said: "It is nice to have a break before we go for our final push. Games are coming thick and fast and we'll soon be playing two games a week for a few weeks. We're totally focused on making sure that we improve between now and the end of the season because we have been too inconsistent and conceded too many goals."
Those defensive frailties were very evident in Port's last league outing at home to Haverfordwest when they lost 4-1.
Roberts wants the Traeth men to learn lessons from that performance and put things right on Saturday.
He said: "We were well on top of that game in the first half but they scored with their first attack. We have got to be far more resilient than we have been of late. There were a lot of positives from the first half against Haverfordwest but we want to make sure that we tighten up defensively." Port's home game against Llanelli last night was postponed because of a water-logged pitch.

this is Llanelli record for the season . Pld23 W16 D0 L7 F44 A20 Pts48
Llanelli lost 1-4 at Aber after a winning run of 10 games .
Llanelli have not won at Aber in WPL [ for a number of years ]
Caersws v Cwmbran 1@1.36
Welshpool v Grange Quins 1@1.14
T.N.S. v Newi Cefn Druids 1@1.07
I agree that those three home sides should win but that treble would be worth 1.66 I believe , which does not tempt me at all.
I do not usually bet on odds below 1.5
My treble bets are usually cross trebles from 4 selections.
I am sure there are better betting opportunities elsewhere on this site.
my weekend bets are two away win singles
Connah's Quay v Llanelli 2@2.10
Porthmadog v Newtown 2@3.20
Do you have any news on Aber team for Friday night match
Port Talbot v Aberystwyth , I would certainly oppose Aber if Glyndwr Hughes was not available as I believe he is essential to Aber.
It is news like this that gives us an advantage in this league.
Good luck with your bets mate .GIF)

Re: Welsh Premier League March 10th/11th/12th
Connah's Quay v Llanelli
this from WPL site
Quote:
SATURDAY'S Welsh Premier fixture between Connah's Quay Nomads and Llanelli has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on Deeside.
It is the fifth time that a Nomads' game has been postponed, with recent games against Newtown, Port Talbot, Llanelli and Caersws also falling foul of the weather.
|
hi komp i'm glad to see you that i agree with you on this one
Port Talbot [6th]v Aberystwyth[10th] 1.80 3.40 3.60
this is the team news from the match preview from the aber fans website
Quote:
Tonight Aberystwyth make the journey down to South Wales and the Remax Stadium to take on high-flying Port Talbot and attempt to gain revenge for the one-sided defeat at Park Avenue earlier in the season.
That 3-0 win came courtesy of a Rhys Griffiths hat-trick, and the front man is still the key player for the Steelmen, who have now dropped to 6th but still maintain European qualification hopes.
The visitors are without Tom Billing (last Friday's abandoned game means his suspension was not served) and captain Bari Morgan who has picked up a sufficient number of yellow cards to get banned! Huw Jones and Jon Foligno are likely to keep their places, Sion Meredith is still not fit enough to start but will likely find himself on the bench.
It's a tough test for Aber tonight, but then that is important to test the credentials for next season and also to help keep Aber in position to qualify for next seasons FAW Premier Cup.
|
Bari Morgan will be a big loss for Aber
Port Talbot did have a lean spell just after Christmas when they played the top four clubs. They did have a hicup when they lost at home to Bangor but they have got over their poor run.I think that Port Talbot to be a better team than Aber.
Aber have an excellent manager in Coyne who is tactically astute , Aber's improvement has been scaffolded by their home form. They did beat my team Porthmadog at Port in both Christmas back to back matches. Since then their only away win has been at Grange.
Was considering a small stakes bet on Port Talbot , but i'm giving this match a miss.

Sorry I was not able to help with team news Traeth, I have not been around the club and its fans this week, I have to say Bari Morgan is the best player I have seen for Aber, so it is a big loss.

Turned out to be a good point for Aber tonight 0-0. That will make the fans optimistic for next season and perhaps the FAW premier cup
