A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

Why do you all stick the league threads? What are you trying to segregate them from? I know we used to do it as thats how someone decided to do it on another forum. Can anyone tell me why we do it still on TDP?

Re: A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

imo it makes people not want to post as their all stuck up there as if they are so important. In the limelight. As i say if we had maybe 10 other threads being posted on from now till saturday i think i could understand it but we dont. I really fail to see why all those threads should be clumped together up there. Not only is it an eyesore it creates a 'un and them' feeling. Thats where we talk British football up there and down here we errrrr look at last weeks threads. It's ok as next week the stuck thread will be back down here and we can put more threads up in the limelight and hope that someone doesnt find them too foreboding to post.

Im not trying to all out with anyone nor look for a fight i just want to hear why we have them. I do believe the only reasons we have them are-

a) We have always had them
b) It directs people towards the divisional threads.

a) wasnt my idea although the divisional threads were. I think its a silly idea and a bit presumptious and off-putting

b) the divisional threads are hard to miss for anyone that can read English

Re: A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

hi komp

I like stickied league threads , it makes reading them in order easier without having to check the correct dates.
It gives a bit of order when there are mid-week league matches.
I think they prevent some mistakes of posting in the incorrect thread.
I believe it was this forum where we separated the stuck threads from the others with a thick bar . A good idea that was copied somewhere else.

my opinion keep the stickies

no way i've got a clean desk , i suppose in "komp's world" standard it would be clean.
At the moment on my desk i've got :
monitor, speakers ,mobile phone, sky remote ,biro , half drunk pint glass of vimto , empty packet of hula hoops , library card , letter from my pension fund from last week saying " we are in deficit ", scrap of paper with the words " fulham ,west ham" and the remains of a pear , and a letter from "electoral reform"

clean desk my arse

Re: A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

Maybe then you use stuck threads Traeth as your one little bit order in your life and it's all the rest of us having to suffer?

Right let me look at the reasons you gave traeth-

Quote:

How about we have the day at the start? I do agree that having the 'CC CHampionship etcc' bit at the start can confuse.

Quote:

surely its a sad state of affairs when we get to a friday that the midweek thread are still being posted earlier on than a weekend thread?

Quote:

Surely it's better to not to let people worry if they dont post 'on the correct' thread and thatthey just get merged in without comment.

Holy fcuk Traeth you REALLY like stuck threads Why dont we just make it two forums. Top half can be British Divisional Threads and the other one could where we actually can chill out a bit, relax and post this and that. I think there's already a gulf created with 'the threads up there' and the rest of the forum. We dopnt even talk about broitish football in here. We would rather talk about it in a non betting capacity down near general chat for the likes of 'Jol To Go' etc All im saying is that i do think that we're wasting what could be a good forum. Go on if your keeping the stickies let us have something to actually talk about in here that aint about the weekend threads. Theres somethig not right imo.

Well, without revealing who said any of these, these are the quotes on the subject from the mods forum a couple of weeks ago:

Quote:
As for stickies ( again ) the place looks a mess without them or am i wrong ?
Quote:
I also agree with the current matches being stickied as it makes the place look a lot tidier.

Quote:
agree on both counts - stickies are a must but i'm not going to sticky things if folk are going to remove them
Those were the 3 opinions expressed on the subject. None of them were from me, by the way, I kept out of it as I don't notice whether threads are stickied or not these days, since I go to threads directly from the "New posts" section rather than from the main forum itself. But generally speaking I do think it's better if threads are stuck/stickied (??)

Re: A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

Well i think they look very staid and uninviting RC but others might know best. I dont unsticky them now either as you can see. I think the 'place looks a mess' comment is ridiculas mind. Its a forum. Not two forums. We have the threads down here. and we have the threads 'up there'. I think people just do it as thats what they are used to and what they have been told that they like. Im still waiting for anyone to tell me anything on this thread barr 'it looks neater' mind. I would rather have posters posting than neatness. Again though im just bringing it up. I aint that bothered. well i am. Everytime i look at all them threads stuck up there with no action on them) it makes me want to close my browser window and go somewhere else on the net. POST ON ME YOU CNUTS is what they say to me and i say 'fcuk off'.

Re: A Question Regarding Stuck Threads

See the stuck threads can actually be ok as long as they are seperating something from something. Can i just bring up the point i raised in that they should always be at the top as thats what happens when people post on them. If they are below a midweek thread then we have another kind of problem in that no-one can be bothered posting on the weekend threads. Folks DONT start threads on other things that might clutter up the threads at the top of the forum. There is NOTHING for things to be mixed up with. So come on if your gonna have stickies TDP then can we have something of interest in the forum that they are separated from (ie Best Bet Of The Weekend etc) We dont even talk about British football betting. Talk sports forum will have talk on things bettng related but does the bottom half of TDP Brit forum? No it doesnt. Its shit. Its a stale hole. Its last weeks threads.

and foreboding high and mighty stuck threads. Anyone new to the forum would run a mile before posting on them imo. It's not natural.
