16th June Austria v Germany

16 Jun 19:45 Austria v Germany 10.00 4.50 1.36

Odds Bet365

I should imagine this will be a bit of Derby for these two with both going at it hammer and tongue with only a win being beneficial to Austria.

I have a feeling the match will be a lot closer than those odds suggest but could never back against the Germans in a game that matters, slipped up badly against the Croats and know they cannot make any more mistakes here.

Have been quite surprised by the Austrians tell the truth as they have given their all in the two matches they have played so far but they don't have the class of players the Germans possess and I can see the Germans winning this by a couple as hanging onto a 1 goal lead with Lehman in nets is a dangerous game to play.

Austria 0 Germay 2

Austria v Germany - Vienna

The surprises in this tournament keep coming - how good are the Spanish and the Dutch and also how average are Germany at the moment?

Revelations from captain Michael Ballack and defender Philipp Lahm that they felt the team were already in the quarter-finals before their 2-1 defeat to Croatia explain a lot.

They took their foot off the gas, found themselves 2-0 down and now need a meaningful result against the co-hosts to progress.

Some layers are as short 1/3 about them getting the victory and have clearly taken the viewpoint that the Germans are unlikely to foul up knowing exactly what is required for them to progress.

Coach Joachim Low will expect a far more proactive approach with Ballack - who has seriosuly underperformed - needing to set a much better example in the middle of the park.

On the other hand, Austria have punched above expectations and certainly deserve to be in with a chance of making the knockout phase at the expense of their neighbours.

On another day they might have pinched an equaliser against Croatia in the opener while they kept their hopes alive with a late leveller against Poland.

Josef Hickersberger's men certainly don't lack for spirit and motivation but still look unlikely to spring a 10/1 upset now Germany have the correct mindset.

A win to nil for the latter at Paddy Power's 11/10 looks the way to go.

Verdict: Austria 0 Germany 2

That sounds a great bet Germany to nil

Germany 1-0 Ballack is usually a good shout but Ballack is not performing... yet.

I see the average height for german squad is 6ft 1" think they will muscle their way to a victory hopefully to nil

I'm on that

I'm on the overs for this game. Austria need to win and that should leave plenty of gaps... if they go behind early then this will hopefully get embarassing for them.

Watched both teams against Croatia, and must say that Austria have shown more. Additionally they are home. Germans are so overrated and so vain without any cause.
I am with full strenght of my heart on hosts here and try a little of generous double chance offer on them.
Cheers

I'm on Germany -1.0 @1.74 with betfair , Austria were lucky in that match against Poland , Germany have the class to overcome their neighbours . I'm expecting a two goal margin but have the safety net of the return of stake if it is one goal difference

The only thing that stops me from lumping my house on Germany is the fact that they can draw and still go through but out of the lot I think I like that bet best Traeth.

I'll have a bit I think, on the basis that Austria will have to push on at some stage and these games have a habit of being tight for the majority of the game and throwing up a couple of late goals at the end.

Re: 16th June Austria v Germany

gutted with the -1 bet i put on.Germany are woeful and i fully expect my anti post bet on the germansd to crumble in the next round. So many players look past it, Klose, Frings who was woeful, Gomez who should never get another cap and the back line on a whole was poor. Lahm was terrific going forward but defensively his left wing was there to be exploited.

Im sure ill cool down eventually andi suppose they could still improve and win it but currently they dont give me any hope really.

Thank you and nice work sir, and at a good price too. You convinced me into making my first bet of Euro 2008 which in itself is some achievement as I was commited to burying my head in the sand with this tournament.

Thank fuck for Lahm though. The rest were pretty dire.

Yeah very poor. Three on one at the end to make me and Traeth a profit there and they managed to fuck it up between them.

Bloody Germans eh? What happened to their famous efficiency.
