Re: 20th June: Croatia v Turkey

I'm guessing from re-reading your post that the offside was actually awarded and the kick taken.

In which case, just refer to the second part of my answer.

I think Bilic was moaning because only 1 minute of additional time had been added and he thought the game should have been over when the equaliser went in.

Inspirational stuff again from the turks

this post from betfair a week ago sums it up for me

If Holland and Turkey were horses...

Which would you back at their current odds of 5.0 and 28.0 respectively of the two ?

Holland are like the flashy, overhyped Newmarket trained youngster who has looked visually impressive but on whom close inspection has had ideal conditions and got its own way out in front and the race run to suit on both its starts.

Turkey have shown guts, spirit and resolution and come from behind twice with the odds massively against them when things have not gone their way.

couldve said the same thing about portugal

Re: 20th June: Croatia v Turkey

And further to the answer Snodster the Ref usually allows substitutions when the ball has actually gone out of play, freekick, corner etc, its rare to see a ref allow a substitution during an offside offence when the opposing team want to get on with the game asap, which is fair enough as the offence was against them, had the offside been the other way round then no doubt the Croats would have brought the substitution to the refs attention and the substitution taken place.

As ODM mentions its all down to the Refs discretion.

Good point Spacecat. The problem with their next game though is that this particular Turkish horse is now partially lame (with suspended players) and has had two very tough races back to back in a very short space of time, whereas the other contender looks like it still has improvement in it.

Re: 20th June: Croatia v Turkey

Nicely summed up ODM, Luck goes a long way to winning tournaments but Turkey are taking it to the extremes at the moment.

Having to go behind and then get stirred up to win agame may work well in the earlier rounds but eventually you'll get found out.

Turkey and Holland could only meet in the final and i'd want over 28's for that just to happen b4 tonight never mind the match itself, Turkey tonight can feel proud for its achievements thus far and rightly so but thats as far as it goes because custom and practise says Germany will see them off and on tonights performance it won't take much.

Some folk might say well Croatia beat Germany and on that basis Turkey are in with a shout, I say get a fcuking life, don't chuck ure money away as this game will be over by half time.

Could be a point in that i suppose as the Turks know the Germans very well but like a panzer division the Germans are on the move and peaking at the right time , defensively the Germans may be dodgey but as the Turks never see that side of the pitch until they go behind it coulld be to little to late as the Germans as a team offensively look good and will take advantage of any spaces th eTurks may leave looking for an equaliser.#

Tell the truth germany will see that Turkey couldent keep a clean sheet in their qualifiers and were lucky Croatia never got a result over 90 mins, Germany only need to play their normal game and should beat them quite comphrensively not even takning their suspension's into account.

Can't see why managers complain about those kind of things (if that is what Bilic was complaining about). Maybe the ref decided there were 90 seconds needed to be added on? The board the 4th official holds up can't really display that, so they have to either go with displaying 1 extra minute and risk complaints if something happens in those extra 30 seconds they need to add on (like last night for example), or display 2 extra minutes and risk complaints if they blow for F-T after 90 seconds when the team needing an equaliser is on the attack.
