QUEEN OF THE SOUTH head to Denmark with their hopes of staying in the Uefa Cup hanging by a thread after a 2-1 defeat to Nordsjaelland in the first leg.

However, it could still prove to be a tight game against a side who find themselves bottom of the Danish First Division, having amassed just two points from their opening five matches.

Doonhamers manager Neale Cooper was furious that his side conceded after just two minutes in the opening clash and their naivity was further exposed when they conceded a second just four minutes after equalising.

Cooper is adamant that the defensive frailties have been addressed and his side have kept clean sheets in their two subsequent matches, against Partick and Dunfermline, to point to an improvement.
They face a difficult task to qualify but are up against a side who have failed to spark into life this season and have not scored more than one goal in any of their five league matches.

The hosts will be looking to keep it tight and cannot be expected to run away with a victory, even if they are just 2-5 to win in 90 minutes, so it may just pay to go under 2.5 goals.

STURM GRAZ -0.25 - FC ZUERICH @1.98 6/10 Betfair


Sturm Graz is coming through Intertoto to 1st quali round in UEFA-Cup! In Zuerich they played a nice game and drew it with 1-1 final score! In first 20 min they startet nervouzly and Zuerich scored to 1-0 but after that Sturm dominated the game and had few good chances. Mario Haas scored around 10 min before end from penalty rebound to equalizer! Don't know much about Zuerich-team, only knows they have few young and good players. Sturm Graz is in nice form in championship, lead in Bundesliga together with Rapid with 5-1-1 and 16 points.
I know a scoreless draw is also enough but that can be very dangerous, so they will also try to score, otherwise the UPC-Arena is sold-off and with this great supporters in my mind can be only one winner and that is Sturm Graz!
Mario Haas and Samir Muratovic are doubtfull, but i think Haas will play on Thursday. In last homegame vs LASK which they won 2-0, Muratovic went out in 26' min through injurie, but youngster Beichler replaced him superb and scored the 2-0 with an 25m shot! I am not scared about this game if Muratovic not playing, because Sturm has very good replacements and Beichler are the man who will play if Samir cannot!

Manchester City and Aston Villa have contrasting tasks on Thursday if they are to reach the UEFA Cup proper.

Villa outclassed FH Hafnarfjordur 4-1 in Reykjavik to pretty much put that tie to bed and are no better than 1/10 to win again at Villa Park.

We'll come to that again later but far more intriguing is City's trip to Denmark to try and overturn a 1-0 deficit against FC Midtjylland.

City were booed off at Eastlands after a tame display in the first leg and they are now as big as 10/11 in places to go through.

However that match took place before the Premier League season started whereas Midtjylland were four games into their campaign and in flying form.

The roles have been somewhat reversed since - Midtjylland have only played once since, suffering their first defeat, while City finally got their season up and running with a 3-0 win over West Ham at the weekend.

The significance of that result shouldn't be underestimated either because the signs coming out of Eastlands hadn't been good and an opening day defeat by Aston Villa only cranked up the pressure.

But what could have turned into a frustrating afternoon on Sunday after West Ham were reduced to ten men actually became just the opposite as City played some incisive football and were rewarded with three goals in little over 10 minutes.

That should give them plenty of confidence heading out to Denmark and a lively atmosphere at a packed 11,000-seater ground should actually suit them far better than a half-empty City of Manchester Stadium.

However this game really doesn't look a betting proposition, especially as City are going to have to manage without Micah Richards after his sickening aerial collision with team-mate Tal Ben Haim.

So the one market we are going to get involved with comes at Villa Park where going for over 3.5 goals at 11/10 might just pay dividends.

There was a gulf in class between the sides in Iceland and that should again be in evidence whatever team Martin O'Neill puts out.

And there's also the chance that Hafnarfjordur will get on the scoresheet again just as they did in the first leg through Matthias Gudmundsson.

That's because for all the money Villa have spent on their defence, it's taking time to gel.

They've got a new keeper in Brad Friedel, a new left-back in Nicky Shorey and effectively a new centre back in Curtis Davies following his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury, with Carlos Cuellar still to come into the equation too.

It's therefore no wonder that they are letting in too many goals at present (five already in two Premier League games) and with more chopping and changing this week that trend could well continue.
