Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Irish guys - what do you's rate Shelbournes chances here?

Celtic in my eyes are MASSIVE value at 1.80 being touted around.

I know they have been poor in their friendly matches but they haven't once failed their strongest side yet. Strachans given everyone a chance to shine and will play his best available on wednesday.

Thompson is back from injury and played 45 mins on Saturday which is a massive boost and he will go into the line up.

New signings are settling in well and are showing signs of potential with Camara being the stand out so far.

Celtic have done well down the years in these matches against weaker opposition in the qualifying rounds and bar Basle, have won them and come through them comfortably.

Interesting note on their opponents - they have only played 2 games so far this season in the Slovakian league but they have lost both of these matches and didnt have it all their own way in the qualifier before this match going down 2-0 in the first leg but pulling through in extra time in the second.

Im going to be having a maximum stake on this match.

I think only Loc.Moscow looks good at the moment!

The russian team is the best team at the moment, and they have all other clubs under controll like the multis from CSKA Moscow or some other teams.
And Loc ist the best away team in the great russia....

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Is Lokomotiv the side that have signed a couple from Porto including Derlei?

Can't remember which side it is but the team with them in their side i have noticed have been doing pretty good so far this season.

Celtic/Moskow double then looks quite generous.

Im fancying shels, they`re on a good run, have the experience and strength in depth, I dont even think Steua have any senior internationals? Shels have four (Alan Moor, Jason Byrne, Crowe and Ndo..). They`re generally good @ home and I think they`re worth a bet @ 9/5 certainly. Steua are still in pre-season etc..any romanians?

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

I also like the look of Celtic away to this Slovakian mob.

I obviously have to do some more research into this but surely a side that struggles over two legs against Borat and his pals from Kazahkstan can not be of much high standard. I mean it took an injury time extra time goal to secure this match for them. Art Bratislav have also lost their last two league games 1-0 away and 2-0 at home, they had their extra time success against the Khazis but lost over there quite easily. Also worth noting is that this will be Art Bratislava 6th game in 18 days I make it having played on the 8th, 12th, 17th, 20th, 23rd and now the 27th July. Could tierdness creep in

Don't Celtic have Varga in the camp, he's Slovakian isnt he unless my geographics are completely messed up. Celtic rested a whole host of players at the weekend against Leeds and most should line up against Bratislava on Wednesday. The likes of Balde, Sutton and co are just so much stronger than many other players and this could be a key here. Strachan has made some key signings, not sure who will all play though

Thoughts? Im keen to get aboard Celtic -1 now or possibly just take the 1.7ish, theyll be shorter come wed

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Strachan has confirmed that he will field his strongest line up hoping to get the job done so he can rest some players in the next leg.

I dont understand either how they have price this game up but i will take complete advantage of it never the less!

Nakamura confirmed today subject to a medical. Looking forward to this guy - first creative midfielder we have had since Moravcik if im right in thinking. I know we have had Juninho but i meant in the fact that a midfielder that was actually some use.

A lot has been talked about with the Brazil game and how he was Man of the match, but the first 45 minutes against Mexico stands out a lot more where he took them apart.

Should be great signing - shame he missed the Champions League deadline

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Forgive my 'elite' ignorance chaps as you know i like all thingy shitty in football but hasnt Celtic either got a really good away record in Europe last 3/4 years or a really bad one?

I think its the former and i could be interested. Who is this slovakian team.

Cheers Mr C. as you say theres loads to be looked at and i presume these ex-eastern bloc countries are still not to be sniffed at. Nah sorry they used to be sniffed at but now they command respect. Who are these people that are demanding respect? I'm gonna go try find out. woo nelly! thats a pretty poor price on Cetic all in. Did you say you can get 4/5 Kiko? I'll have a butchers as i go.

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Actually mate I beleive that it's the latter.

Celtic haven't won away in the Champions League group stages for yonks ... but usually steam home at Celtic Park.

Still - this oppo seem to be as weak as Celtic will every meet - and a winning start does look on the cards.

Prices on the away win are ranging from 1.50 to 1.73 (about 8/11 for fractional folk)

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Celtic best priced 8/11 now with Bluesq and Betdirect. Bah that team has Bratislava in its name. That usually indicates hard games to me for some reason. I aint helping much am i?

Looks like it aint being played at the Slovakian temas home ground but someone has probably mentioned that. Its at the national stadium. It be a full house obviously?

Im reading the home team have striking problems and have a few out? Anyone got any good team news sites thanks? Anyone from Slovakia reading this and could tell us anything? Feel free to post in Slovakian as i'm no bad with languages and i'll translate. What was the home sides reult of last year out of interest anyone? Would love a wee look at some tables with a bit of home and away thrown in too.

Mmm Artmedia just bought in a young talented striker 'with great skills'. How have teams from Slovakia done in this competition the last few years?

I was tempted by Celtic a bit but i think the price is a bit short. The games ion the telly i belive possibly so if i was forced to bet on it as i just couldnt stand another night alone now that shes gone and taken everything so im just gonna drink and bet one everything thats on the tv single then i would take the draw.

Celtic could win 3-0 or lose 1-0. Why am i even looking at this?

Re: Champions League - Wednesday 27th July

Sorry Gooner took me a while to write that post. Bad away huh? Aye that just adds fuel to the fire for me to avoid this one. What else we got?

F91 Dudelange v Rapid Vienna looks like one of them old ties you used to see i nthe 70's when everyone was doing the Johan Cruff. F91 with their cool name come from Luxemburg but you all probably knew that (entertain me) It looks like i made their webshite http://dudelangel.atspace.com/ Dont click it as its shite.

Im reading Strum Graz drew 1-1 in Andorra in the intertoto but i dont know how relevant that is but it serves as a reminder.

Heh are these just one leg affairs? Nah surelyy their over 2 legs. aye i suppose it owuld so i'll carry on regardless. Be great if there was a bedsite with all the slovakian leagues and similar. There must be surely? Anyone 'advise' me?

Nah i give up on Rapid Vienna too as its just a stab in the dark for me as their odds suggest they should win. I'll just go away
