You could be right ... UEFA Cup at this stage might be trappy punting.

But I see enough in the AZ Alkmaar v Real Betis game to tempt me.

One additional thing I've found ... this weekend Real Betis face Real Socidad in a La Liga match ... and it's a very intense derby. Their GAME OF THE SEASON sort of thing.

So I reckon that Betis will save something for that game and will be more than happy to lose by a goal here ...

And that gives us another wee punters edge as all we are doing is backing A to win.

Re: UEFA Cup 23rd Feb

german meetings...

Rapid - Hertha

Berlin is out of it at the moment. They didn´t win in the last 10 matches national and international. Last weekend a defeat versus Schalke and the week before a defeat versus Rapid and in Bundesliga a draw versus Wolfsburg and Wolfsburg is also not good at the moment! The "Kicker" have some interviews with the berlin captain Arne Friedrich and the Manager Dieter Hoeneß about the defeats, the coach and the future of some players.
Bastürk said in the end of the schalke match last weekend, that the coach is good and the team will work with him.So the players are the minus at the moment in Berlin. The Manager said that the Coach Falko Götz will stay in Berlin as Coach - no matter!
They lose 0:1 at home versus Rapid, thats not the worst result for the first leg.Today Berlin need a 2:0 victory or higher.

line ups (probably):

Rapid

_____________Coman______________
__Constantin - Maftei - Rada - Badoi__
Maldarasanu - Dica - Karamyan - Burga
___________Negru - Niculae_________

Coach: Lucescu

Berlin

_____________Fiedler_____________
Friedrich - van Burik - Samba - Fathi
Chaded - Marx - Marcelinho - Gilberto
_______Sverkos - Okoronkwo_______

Coach: Götz

Berlin have to be very offense at the begin of the match, the midfielder and forward have to work for their job! For me its the break point! If Berlin win today versus Rapid and come to the next round they´ll be back in business.
If Berlin lose .. the next weeks wouldn´t be easy for the Club!

Referees:
1: Layec (France)
A: Reinbold (France)
A: Cazali (France)

My punt:
no bet

Re: UEFA Cup 23rd Feb

4 german teams are in this UEFA Cup round.Stuttgart,Schalke,Berlin and Hamburg. 3 teams start this round with a defeat.Stuttgart lose versus Boro 1:2,Hamburg lose versus FC Thun (1:0) and Berlin also 1:0 defeat versus Rapid Bucharest (look to the post before).Only the very strong Schalke 04 won over Espanyol Barcelona 2:1 and need only a draw to come to the next UEFA Cup round.

Hamburger SV - FC Thun

Hamburg must win at home versus Thun.A possible job for the Team from nothern Germany.Rafael van der Vaart is fit again and will play tonight. He´s a very important player for Hamburg and is a big part for the Hamburg sucess this season! He´s the playmaker and the best player in midfield for Hamburg.
So,I´m sure that Hamburg win versus Thun with Rafael v.d.Vaart!

probably Line ups:

Hamburg:

_________________Wächter_______________
Mahdavikia - Boulahrouz - van Buyten - Atouba
Wicky - de jong / v.d. Vaart - Trochowski - Jarlolin
_____________Takahara - Barbarez_________

Coach: Doll

Thun:

____________Jakupovic_________
Hodzic - Deumi - Tchami - Milicevic
Duruz - Friedl - Aegerter - Ferreira
_________Adriano - Vieira_______

Coach:Peischl

excellent names: Adriano (Inter Milan),Vieria (Juventus),Ferreira (Portugal) .. But thats not the originals

Hamburg came from the UI Cup to the UEFA Cup and they´re better and better.
Last Weekend they won versus Eintracht Frankfurt (0:1) away.
FC Thun had a draw versus Young Boys Bern and only one victory in the last 9 league rounds (versus Yverdon Sport).I have no doubt that Hamburg win tonight!

Referees:
1: Yefet (Israel)
A: Shteif (Israel)
A: Krassikow (Israel)

Stats:
2 meetings 2004
HSV - FC Thun 3:1
FC Thun - HSV 2:2

my punt:
Hamburg victory

Re: UEFA Cup 23rd Feb

Shakhtar - Home In Europe - P3 - W2 - D0 - L1

For 5 - Against 2

Lille - Away In Europe - P3 - W0 - D1 - L2

For 0 - Against 2

Shaktar must win by at least 1 goal given the fact they lost 3-2 in 1st leg

sub zero temperatures and possible snow predicted

my bet - £500 on Shakhtar Donestk 11/10 (bet365)

Good write up by Komp.

The fact that Steaua Bucuresti is playing on Neutral ground as well as having a 2 goal advantage from the 1st leg. They are gonna win the 2nd leg bacause the Asian Handicap given is very very high........ $$$ on SB woof2.

Re: UEFA Cup 23rd Feb

Roma-Club Brugge: X2

Odds: 2.26

Bookmaker: Gamebookers

Ok, Ok, agree with me or not I'm taking this value bet. First of all, we see that Roma is unbeaten for long time. They had much luck got their 10 wins in a row, and are tired now (they play in Serie A, UEFA-cup, Coppa Italia..)

The first match ended with 1-2. People who watched the match will say that Roma was a real shit! They created one chance and scored twice, via an own goal by Vanaudenarde. Brugge was the best team, but got no chance in front of 10 defenders. Brugge lost undeserved to this Roma.

Roma now without Totti, Perotta and De Rossi. They will play slow at home, won't create many chances (must they win by 2 goals? Must they win? Why shoulds they make themselves tired?)

Brugge will give a rest for some players. Clement, Gvozdenovic and Yulu-Matondo are expekted to play. A good thing because this players are good enough to replace the "tired" one. Brugge director said that they will go for a win (I don't expekt that) and it's not impossible to win there. Roma is not so storng as you maybe think! The price for the away win is too good, but I'll play safer and take X2 here!

Why not?!
