Champions League semi's 01-02 May

UEFA Champions
01 May 19:45 Liverpool v Chelsea 2.40 3.00 3.10
02 May 19:45 AC Milan v Man Utd 2.10 3.20 3.50

Odds Bet365

Tastey games to say the least, I quite fancied Chelsea to go through after last weeks results but Carvalho missing throws this game wide open IMO as Chelsea aren't best equipped with Centre Halfs as we found out when Terry was Injured a few months back, Essien may fill in the role as he has done b4 but he is no center half and always look suspect when playing that position so maybe Livepool wil capitalise on this.

Whatever happens its going to be another tight affair but you can always see Chelsea scoring a goal which leaves open the question can Liverpool score 3, I doubt it and think this one will end in a draw.

Liverpool have kept a pretty staggering 12 from 17 clean sheets (includeing one in the 2-0 win vs Chelsea) so if anyone can keep Chelsea out they can. Liverpool let me down badly last week and were extremely lucky to concede only one so they're actually not in too bad shape. I thought last week Chelsea were faltering but they proved me wrong only to come unglued at the weekend and you'd have to wonder are the wheels wobbling a bit now. Mourinho's utterances are getting even more bizarre and last weekend must have hurt a lot.

I can see Liverpool winning this but leven allowing for Liverpools great rearguard ike you say Slick you'd have to fancy Chelsea to nick one when it matters and I can't see Chelsea concedeing 3 which is something they've done only once in the last 3 seasons in the EPL and only once I think against Bayern in the last 3 seasons of Champions League.

Gun to head Liverpool to win with a draw saver. No gun to head. No bet.

With Carvalho and Shevchenko out for Chelsea, plus Liverpool resting a number of players on the weekend, I think Liverpool should take it. But, like Wittmann, I like to play it safe, so it's Liverpool +0 for me.

Re: Champions League semi's 01-02 May

As a United fan i'm not bothered who wins but i feel Chelsea have the edge,Drogba bullied the L'pool defence at will last game and Joe Cole is a handfull i cannot see Liverpool not shipping a goal so they will need 3 to be certain.
Here we have the head to heads since 2000.

20 Jan 2007 LG Liverpool 2 - 0 Chelsea 54 - 56 3 - 2
17 Sep 2006 LG Chelsea 1 - 0 Liverpool 56 - 53 4 - 12
13 Aug 2006 CUP Chelsea 1 - 2 Liverpool 50 - 62 6 - 9
22 Apr 2006 CUP Chelsea 1 - 2 Liverpool 63 - 68 1 - 3
05 Feb 2006 LG Chelsea 2 - 0 Liverpool 54 - 57 1 - 3
02 Oct 2005 LG Liverpool 1 - 4 Chelsea 52 - 67 13 - 1
27 Feb 2005 CUP Liverpool 2 - 3 Chelsea 55 - 56 5 - 1
01 Jan 2005 LG Liverpool 0 - 1 Chelsea 58 - 62 6 - 1
03 Oct 2004 LG Chelsea 1 - 0 Liverpool 59 - 56 2 - 10
07 Jan 2004 LG Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool 53 - 55 3 - 7
17 Aug 2003 LG Liverpool 1 - 2 Chelsea 57 - 50 12 - 10
11 May 2003 LG Chelsea 2 - 1 Liverpool 49 - 62 4 - 5
06 Oct 2002 LG Liverpool 1 - 0 Chelsea 61 - 53 2 - 5
24 Mar 2002 LG Liverpool 1 - 0 Chelsea 66 - 64 3 - 6
16 Dec 2001 LG Chelsea 4 - 0 Liverpool 58 - 57 7 - 1
08 May 2001 LG Liverpool 2 - 2 Chelsea 69 - 51 3 - 6
01 Nov 2000 CUP Liverpool 2 - 1 Chelsea 57 - 64 3 - 6

Liverpool with the kop etc have NEVER scored more than 2 goals against Chelsea, who have managed it 3 times in that period.
Then who appart from Gerrard is capable of scoring for the scoucers ,lets face it Kuyt,Pennant, Bellamy and Crouch would never get a starting place for either Chelsea Arsenal or United.
As i have said i am going to sit back hopefully enjoy a good game crack open a few GUINNESS and look forward to the big game tommorrow night.

Re: Champions League semi's 01-02 May

To be honest I did not expect odds @ 2.4 for the homewin.

Chelsea were not playing as good as recent results showed and they finally lost some points at Newcastle and against Bolton. That was the fair result if you ask me in both games.

They are gonna defend at Enfield but it's not the best place to do that. They are gonna miss Karvalio, probably much more than Sevtchenko.

Of course them scoring is defo a consideration (and may even ruin my bet) but at these odds I am going with the Pool. It would not surprise me if we see extra time in this one.
Good luck guys.

Re: Champions League semi's 01-02 May

Liverpool - Chelsea
I think that Crouch could be the different tonight. He´s 16cms taller than the tallest Chelsea Defender (J.Terry 1.84m). Anfield Road isn´t an easy going and Chelsea miss some good players.
Ballack,Shevchenko and Carvalho are out today. Carvalho is very important in defense and Sheve than Kalou in my eyes. Morinho will have enough quality midfielders to substitute Ballack. Pool miss Garcia and Aurelio. Finnan is fit again and Kewell pass a test with the b-Team versus Everton B.He´s at the bench at first.

first leg: 1-0
defeats:
- Chelsea 1 defeat versus Bremen (1-0)
- Pool 1 defeat versus Barca (0-1)

Both have a 17-8 goal balance, the 2nd best striker (Drogba 6 goals,Crouch 6 goals) and the other values are similar. I see only one advantage ... and that advantage is 16 cms higher and will be the air-king in the Chelsea penalty area ...

- Pool to win
- Crouch one goal or more

Re: Champions League semi's 01-02 May

Liverpool V Chelsea: 2nd Half to have most goals @11/10: Not a bet I do often but I reckon there might be some value in it tonight.

With Liverpool only needing 1 goal they shouldn't be going gung ho from the start and they can afford to ease their way into the game before coming out all guns blazing in the 2nd half. Obviously if either team score early the bets not looking too great but I have a feeling it'll be a cautious enough affair in the opening half.

The 2nd half should be a very open affair with either Chelsea or Liverpool taking risks depending on whos winning. Heres hoping for a tight and cagey 1st half.

Verdict: Most goals to be scored in the 2nd half @11/10: Paddy Power

I`m going with over2,5@2.80 in today`s game ....
I know that when these two teams are playing in CL one goal is the maximum but i think that Chelsky is going to score and then we are going to have a game to watch

Re: Champions League semi's 01-02 May

I was thinking about going over 2.5 as Liverpool will need to be more attack minded and it is likely that they will play two up front with Pennat and maybe another winger feeding in the crosses. Will play with a couple of correct scores that look a little high:

Chelsea 2-0 is odds of 22 on betfair, while Chelsea 2-1 is 18.

I have gone for liverpool DNB @ 8/11 .

Taking Chels missing players & tightness of H2h's into account.

Small stake .
Just looking forward to a good game!
