That was a very queer semi - I never in a million years thought so many performances would be so bad, and it turned the whole thing right on its head :/ Bloody pirates indeed...never had this trouble with those vampires...

Too true Beanster. Latvia maybe a few more pals than the Swiss though. I hate that side of things, I really do. Surely no one could say Latvia should have been in ahead of..... err.. who didn't make it that was decent?

I got some cash on Portugal @ 1.62 as per the in-running thread btw. Outstanding performance.

I thought Hungary were up to the mark, Bulgaria should have been in too (they were 1.25 to make it!).

Re: Eurovision 2008: Bets Placed

I enjoyed Bulgaria but I thought the singing was woeful. She was well out of tune to my wee lugs. Hungary's problem lay in the song being inadequate. She was good enough but it was very 1970's, Pebble Mill, Gloria Hunniford and was needing all the old cardigan wearing brigade to support it. I dunno

Anyhoo. Definitely an interesting final we have. More things in that I like than usual.

Okay so far I have:

Latvia E/W 1-3 @ 100
Portugal win @ 30
Latvia top 10 @ 2.12
Israel top 10 @ 6.6
Norway win @ 65

I think my head is in melt down.

Re: Eurovision 2008: Bets Placed

6.6 for Israel top 10 Them were the days. I can't even get 5.8

And only 30's for the perfect Portugal?!! Ay carrumba. It's currently @ 36.00 on betfair but I'm still desperate for at least 60's - errrm, you may have heard me oink there.

I can hardly remember all my bets now but I've covered Turkey (up to 42.00's) and Bosnia (up to 32.00 I think) to win as well as Israel (various odds from 130.00 to 180.00) and Portugal @ 70.00 and 80.00. If either of the latter two win I'll do a naked jig. I also have Portugal top 10 @ 3.00's and am still trying for Israel.

I missed out on Portugal as best of the west @ 6.00 and am well pissed off with that, as well as their matchup with Spain. AND the Israel handicap bet. No matter. Bah. I think I have France to finish above Spain though @ 5.50 - not too confident with that one despite the horror that is Spain this year.

Re: Eurovision 2008: Bets Placed

Holy ****! You go out for one night and virtually every price vanishes

If pushed I would say Ukraine will win this, but the vocal performances of all the main contenders are so weak I couldnt back any of them...

7pts Israel Top 10 @ 5.70... 2pts Israel Top 4 @ 30...1pt Israel Win @ 150

7pts Portugal to beat Spain/France @ 21/20 (Paddy Power)

Top Scandinavian 1pt Iceland @ 19.00 1pt Norway @ 6.50 Paddy Power

Other outrights...

1pt Turkey @ 44
1pt Portugal @ 50
0.5pts Albania @ 290
1pt Bosnia @ 32

Iceland has been on my mind all day, Beanie. Their performance was very good. Lots of energy and one of those bloody songs I hate that used to always do well at this. I think they'll do ok.

Re: Eurovision 2008: Bets Placed

I've taken the same bet, old Bean: Iceland top Nordic (that is the same isn't it?) @ 19.00's bet365

What else? A little on Albania top 10 @ 8.8 just in case she nails a similar performance to the one I loved.

I've finally given up on anything close to what I wanted for Israel top 10 - my patience has run out and I've got a chunk on @ 4.8 Shut it! I was scoffing at 5.8 not long ago too.

I've got a little something on Armenia to win @ 17.00's - my favourite of the ones I hate (Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Sweden).

All my enthusiasm is completely drained. Doesn't help when you're the only bastard in here all day.
