PS3,XBOX360 or wii

ok going to get round to purchase one of these, I dont know why I havent, had a media centre which was pretty good i guess.

anyone got one which one would they recommend? worried the wii will be boring after awhile?

It all depends what kind of gamer you are and what type of games you like.

If you're older than 12 then the chances are you'll tire of the Wii after a couple of weeks. Brilliantly innovative with the motion sensor control system but for kids/girls/families/fannies really and a real dearth of quality games (compared to the PS3 and 360). Got one for my kids for Xmas, they loved it for a week, yet it's forgotten about already - they've gone back to the 360 and Runescape.

The 360 is imo the best buy, a huge catalogue of games, many of them top quality. Main bugbear is too many similar games, fps's in abundance, but with so many games out you shouldn't be bored.

Can't comment on the PS3 as I ain't got one nor played on one, apparantly better than the 360 but a worrying lack of top games to push the hardware to its limit and past the 360.

I agree that because the PS3 entered late, the dearth of games is apparent, although it is getting better..

And don't forget - GTA 4 comes out in April on the PS3 !

He is spot on about the Wii. The games the guys are coming up with are amazing and not like anything you will see on any other console thats for sure. There just aren't enough of the games for serious gamers which is why i wouldn't recommend it. Great for having your mates around and a piss about with though.

I am not long having the Xbox and its fucking awesome i have to admit and thats me only playing Pro Evo, Fifa, WWE and COD 4 so far. I haven't even got it online yet too. Just settling into flat so will get that done over the weekend. Just bought Halo 3 too which has been hugely hyped so looking forward to that.

Xbox 360 is easily the best console of the lot for the huge selection of quality of games.

As for the PS3. I am not too big on it but all my friends seem to love it. One good thing going for it is that the games available just now are nothing on what is going to be coming out in the coming years. Gaming creators so far haven't been using the full power of the PS3 and its not going to be for a wee while yet until they start doing so so you can buy that console knowing its going to get better.

My 360 is flashed so is banned from Live. I did get on for 6 months or so before the mass banning and had mixed feelings.

Only really played PES6 online (did once have a try with Need For Speed but got left for dead as my rivals cars seemed to be 10 times faster than mine for some reason so fucked that right off), half the time PES6 was great, tight entertaining games where you don't mind losing as you've played well, but other times was a total nightmare, it was as if every opposition player was stronger, faster, more intelligent etc and like their slow defender would outpace my Ronaldo or their puny forward would outmuscle my John Terry etc.

Read forums about it and loads having same problems....really spoilt it and frustrating as fuck. Smashed one of my controllers too out of sheer frustration, cost me £30 to replace.....probably a good thing I can't go on now

So never tried a variety of games but I would imagine the shooters are great.

Have you tried Gears Of War yet? Best game I've ever played and I'm not a huge shooter fan.

What do you make of PES/FIFA? I've always much preferred PES but found PES6 on the 360 sluggish and too predictable, PES 2008 is improved, sharper and more variety in the shots etc, forwards stay onside better, but fucking hell, you get booked for almost every foul you make, often straight red too, how unrealistic is that?

Just got FIFA 08 and can't believe how beautiful the graphics are, looks so real, love the way the camera shakes a la GEARS when running down the wing (in PRO camera)....takes some getting used to though, fucking cross/shoot buttons opposite to PES, very hard to get clear on goal, can't seem to dribble past players either like on PES, I know these games try and make you pass but if you're playing as Arsenal and NONE of your players are capable of going past a man then it's not much of a footy game! Seems potentially better than PES (never thought I'd say that) - much smoother now than older versions.

I'm off to look at some forums for advice. Played 3 games v easy and only scored 1 goal (although it was a real beauty from Fabregas)....

Another thing about PES6 online I've just remembered, almost everyone plays as Inter or Brazil as Adriano is unstoppable as they've made him a fucking super human who's stronger than a bull and 90% of his shots end up as goals.

Hopefully POS 2008 will be better.

shame the the ps3 and 360 couldt have some kind of bastard child, the 360 is loud and can overheat where the ps3 is so feckin ugly.

cheers guys plumped for the ps3 you can install a bigger hardrive yourself (2.5") without invalidating the warrentee and it plays divx, which is a must : ) also has the blueray player which will look nice on my tv!
