Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Finally recieved the carts today so i'll have a tinker and try and get some games on them, couldent fathom at first how the hell you get roms on the firecart but i see the ds lite has a gba slot on it also so i presume the other cartridge with the usb port on fits in there and then i just copy the games across.

Ehhm, I'm quite impressed with the fire cart, the menu once the games are downloaded is a lot better than the r4 and as the memorys built in theres no way the kids can pull out the wee microsd and lose it.

It's great isn't it slick, we have gone to town with it. I have nothing to compare it too but it's so easy to use. My son finds it easy to download games and now has this thread added to his favourites, see now you have a 10 year old, gathering members for the future.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Cheers Dan every little helps, just bar him form the regular threads otherwise you may have a mini Komp on ure hands in a few yrs time.

Its a Brilliant device now i've sussed it, pretty straight forward really as its all menu driven off the NDS screen unlike the r4 which i was expecting.

it even comes up with a mini menu with gifs attached for ease of use, couldent be any simpler.

Its the cart i'll be recommneding in the future for anybody who asks.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Well our fire cart is dead now.

Don't know what Marcus had done but all but one game were saying file read error or something like that so I deleted them all, still didn't work when we loaded a new one so I deleted everything including the menu bit, I foolishly thought it would all end up in the computer recycle bin and I could reinstall them one by one but not so.

Therefore all dead so I'll need to buy another one.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

try this ..

download and unzip this to a directory on your pc
http://www.dsgba.com/down/nand_stable_26.zip

you should end up with 2 files called copy xmenu.dat and autorun1.nds

1. Grab your NDS and plug in storage card & Fire Link cart

2. Connect USB cable between PC and Fire Link cart, power on NDS

3. Select USB Mode, and you'll see a new drive letter mount for the storage card

4. Browse to root dir of new drive letter, then copy over the two files you unzipped in the first step ( xmenu.dat and autorun1.nds )

5. turn NDS off and on. Select Menu instead of USB Mode and a command line BIOS update will run. Hit A to perform update. When done, restart NDS.

6. After reboot, select USB Mode and delete autorun.nds. Restart NDS.

see if that works Dan.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Aye let us know Dan, I was gonna post up the files i have on my cart but i think theres a bit more to it than just copying them over as the flash acts as a mini hard disk and will probably need some boot sector files that a straight 'copy over' won't produce.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Since then Marcus has managed to lose the cable first, then when I found it he mislaid the fire card so I am still to attempt it all. Will keep you posted though as I still doubt my ability to follow simple instructions.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

use R4 DS or emulator

The R4 DS allows for more than just gaming. Now you can use watch movies, play music, browse pictures, read E-Books and more on your Nintendo DS and DS Lite! The R4 DS is a slot 1 device (which requires no passcard)
