Nintendo Ds/lite

Bought one of these for the daughter at chrimbo and the games cost a packet, just spent nearly a ton today in fact on a few games, well she did out of her christmas booty.

It took me back to the gameboy advance days when the son had one and i bought a cartridge and ram for nearly £200 but could download any game i wanted and save a bit of cash.

I've just looked into if i could get the same thing for the Ds lite and Bingo theres plenty about.
The ds ex-treme looks the dogs bollox as does something called a ninja pass but they all seem to be sold out so i've just bought a R4 for £35 that does the same job as the ninja....

all i need to add to it is a micro sd card , the sort of memory a mobile phone takes, I could pick up a 1 gig micro sd card for around £25 and they can store around 20 games, so for around 60 notes I can get any game i want for the DS or DS lite, have about 20 on the one card that is menu driven and save a packet.

I should imagine a few people have bought a Nintendo ds or lite for the nippers over christmas and if you want any more info then give me a shout and i'll also point you to where you can find the Nintendo game downloads (roms) on the net.

I'm still on the lookout for a Wii and hopefully if they are as they say backward compatilble there will be a way to play this on that also.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

I bought my lad a DS (the old style silver one) a year ago and instantly got a Superpass and Supercard for it - didn't fancy flashing it in case I fucked it - with the Supercard patching program you simply download the roms, patch them, then stick them on the SD/CF card and away you go

My youngest lad got a DS Lite for Xmas this year and I got him a Superpass (very much like the R4) and again works fine. Thousands of GBA games and hundreds of DS games

Only thing to remember is to keep your firmware and supercard program updated to the latest version or some newer games won't work.

Got a GP2X at the moment which is class for retro stuff, MAME and NEOGEO emu's are class on it, although Deal or No Deal seems to be the lad's favourite at the minute.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Right sorted all seems to be working fine, from the original post i bought one of these for £35
http://www.cheapmod.net/item--R4--r4ds

added one of these microSD cards for a tenner.. i bought a 1gig card that fits about 30 games on but u can go higher or even lower.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d..._promot_widget

and then downloaded whatever games i wanted from here..
http://ds-rom-news.ath.cx:42915/?keke=downloads

Works a treat with a simple drag and drop procedure putting the games onto the microSD card then just insert that into the R4, then the R4 into the Nintendo DS or DSlite and Bingo.

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Slick, with the R4 do you have to extract and patch the roms, or does it just play the rar files direct?

Re: Nintendo Ds/lite

Nah you have to extract the .rar files Seen then just copy the .nds file over to the r4 and away you go.

You also have to choose a skin originally but these come on a disk with the R4, just select 1 then copy it over to the microSD and thats it, then just copy over the unrarred rom images to the microSD.
I created a directory for each game and put them in there just for better housekeeping.
