Bet Fair still offering the best odds?

Perhaps I'm too lazy and get in too late but the odds on red hot favs are nowhere near as good as the prices offered by the conventianal bookmakers.

Perhaps it's me and I should make more of an effort to price up games and offer odds to lay on my selections.

Has anyone else found this, or is it just on the red hot favs where this is a problem.

I'll always look around for the best price and lately that's been at Betfair a lot of the time. I've got 5 punts in the SPL tomorrow and Betfair is best priced for 4 of them, although none are short odds so it may just be there that the problem is.

I've been saying this for a while now conan. Not just red hot favs but favs in general. It stands out more on the horses where an evens fav generally available with a bookie will be odds on on Betfair but the higher down the list of prices you go on the same race, the better the Betfair price will be in relation to a bookie.

Same with football. Anything around 5/4 or less I will nearly always find a bookie better than betfair. Whereas if the bookies rate each side at about 6/4 then you're likely to get around 2/1 on one of them on Betfair.

I put it down to the fact that most people with a Betfair account make it their first port of call but you've got to shop around as all the little bits you get on the better prices really do add up over the course of a year and can be the difference between winning and losing in the long run.

Re: Bet Fair still offering the best odds?

Must have a wee look at my stats tonight but I agree that Betfair is not always the best price nowadays. Certainly with short priced favourites you would usually get someone, be it Skybet, Interwetten or whoever beating the Betfair price by a few points.

I think from a backing point of view, especially on AH bets which I do often, Betfair can often be bettered. Pinnacle certainly give them a run for their money in this market.

As you say ODM, you just have to be prepared to do the legwork and for example go to Stan James and take the 1.80 instead of taking the 1.77 gross price at Betfair. But I think a lot of people either can't be arsed doing this or can't be bothered checking where the best price is.

Re: Bet Fair still offering the best odds?

Just had a wee look at my bets for the last 6 month. From 645 bets I have used Betfair just over 35% of the time. Still the longest by a far way but 65% of the time it would suggest there is a better price elsewhere. The 35% is also boosted by the fact that I tend hardly ever to use Mansion or Betdaq for laying nowadays.
