Zone 22.
Book Description
In July 2003 a young Englishman was arrested at Moscow airport. It was the beginning of a journey to hell and back. Zone 22 is the shocking true story of his struggle to survive the brutal, corrupt, almost medieval conditions of a prison camp in Putin's Russia.
A really shocking book , read it in two night shifts , scarey stuff , great read mind.
Child 44.
Read loads of great reviews of this book , so i was expecting it to be crap and over hyped , well it certainly wasnt.
Quote:
Child 44 is a thriller set in the terror of 1950s Stalinist Russia, a brutal regime that executed anyone who disagreed with its dogma. It proclaimed to be a perfect society. So, when a series of brutal murders take place, no one is permitted to say that these are the work of a serial killer. In a perfect society there can be no crime.
One man, Leo Demidov, a State security agent, a man who has spent his entire career arresting innocent men and women, decides to redeem himself by catching this killer. To do so, he must buck the system, risking his life and the life of everyone he loves.

Synopsis
A new Logan McRae thriller from the bestselling author of Cold Granite, Dying Light and Broken Skin, set in gritty Aberdeen. Aberdeen is panicking. It's been eighteen years since Grampian Police caught the Flesher -- the notorious serial killer who butchered people all over the UK -- and seven years since he was released from Peterhead prison, his conviction overturned on appeal. But when a container full of joints of human meat turns up at Aberdeen Harbour, it kicks off the largest man hunt in Aberdeen's history. Ken Wiseman is on the run and looking for revenge. Detective Sergeant Logan McRae is lumbered with the unenviable task of babysitting Chief Constable Mark Faulds from Birmingham -- one of the original investigation team -- and trying to keep DI Insch from throwing his career away in his obsessive quest to see Wiseman behind bars before he kills again. When members of the team that put Wiseman away in 1990 start going missing, Logan knows that things aren't as straightforward as everyone thinks. More and more human meat is turning up in the food chain. Twenty years of secrets and lies are being dragged into the light. And the only thing that's certain is Aberdeen will never be the same again.
Ive got all his books , and apart from the second one , i would recommend them all , real gritty stuff , quite violent , but with plenty of humour as well..
