Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
Villain is unknown.
No IQ poker Ensenada 0.50/1, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker
Button Hero ($101.35)
SB ($85.45)
BB ($86.50)
UTG ($100.40)
UTG+1 ($84.90)
Preflop: Hero is on the Button with 5 5
1 fold, UTG+1 raises to 4, Hero calls 4, SB calls 3.50, 1 fold.
Flop (13.00) 6 7 5
SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets 11, 1 fold, UTG+1 raises to 29, Hero????
I have ruled out all overpairs due to the texture of the board. This is either a set/straight or 2 big hearts/combo draw right?
What's my move?

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
horrible but I think I might actually play here. You could be looking at A-big of hearts, A8, 88, 76 etc, all of which might play at you as he has.
You're 30-35% to win even if he has the made straight.
There is 53 in the pot and if you push, you're risking 69 to win it and the rest of his 51. That means you need to win 39% of the time.
So its wrong to push if he absolutely has the made straight and even more wrong if he has you oversetted. Against that you're a strong favourite (2-1) against 88 and an even bigger favourite (3-1) against two hearts.
A nasty decision and I wouldn't criticise a fold. If I play I push, and I think against an average player I might just be getting odds to push. As a rough guess I'd say you'd need him to have the made straight or overset at least 90% of the time to fold. I doubt an overset plays like this though and you might even get him to fold (wrongly!) if you push.
All told I think you just have the edge to push, but like I say I wouldn't criticise a fold. In the 'white heat of battle' I'm not sure I'd have the stones to push

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
Yeah its certainly a sucky one. I just hate putting my whole stack in play in situations where I could so very easily be 2/1 or basically drawing dead. I dont criticise a strong play but ill just save the bother this hand and fold as ive not contributed much to the pot. His raise looks like it doesnt mind a call either so fcuk it.

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
That hand reminds me of the time I nearly became a mormon. Its not a very good one.
I dont mind a call here and see what this moof does on the turn and see what card hits the turn. I dont think you can rule out an overpair, given the texture of the board, he could just want to check raise so he can make you pay more to hit any draw. Although his raise isnt biigish, but given that any raise on the ipoker is 95% a min raise, and that is literally not an exaggeration. The amount of check min raises is untrue.
You can't really disagree with a fold though.
I dunno mate, just kill yourself mid hand seems the best option.

I can't see a call here being right - think it is push or fold

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
I won one of my biggest ever spots in a similar situation, heres the hand.
For what its worth I think long run your going to lose. Mostly you'll get called by a higher set, an already made straight and flush draws, add that up and its generally a bad push since you'll not get many worse hands paying you off.
BTW, I was super tilting here:
Button is in seat 9
Total number of players: 6
Seat 1: jossi1 ($159,20)
Seat 2: jochen8 ($380,50)
Seat 4: Hero ($283,86)
Seat 7: thrillhouse3 ($383,30)
Seat 9: hejhaj ($461,72)
Seat 10: bouba95 ($229,50)
bouba95 posts small blind of $2,00; jossi1 posts big blind of $4,00;
Hero is dealt ,
jochen8 calls $4,00; Hero calls $4,00; thrillhouse3 folds; hejhaj calls $4,00; bouba95 folds; jossi1 checks;
Dealing flop , ,
Pot is: $18,00
jossi1 bets $12,00; jochen8 calls $12,00; Hero raises to $48,00; hejhaj folds; jossi1 raises to $155,20; jochen8 raises to $262,40; Hero is all-in ($231,86); jochen8 calls $0,00;
Dealing turn
Pot is: $739,46
Dealing river
Pot is: $739,46
Hero wins $729,92
Rake and uncalled bets: $9,54
Summary:
Seat 1: jossi1 loses $171,20 with ,
Seat 2: jochen8 loses $278,40 with ,
Seat 4: Hero wins $446,06 with ,
Seat 7: thrillhouse3 stays even
Seat 9: hejhaj loses $4,00
Seat 10: bouba95 loses $2,00

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
raisin - it is a mandatory call for you there - once there are two people already in the pot you have to call with a set, even knowing you are almost certainly behind.
I'll try and come back to this hand some other time with some detailed analysis as I think it is an interesting one. I suspect though in most situations that pushing is actually profitable.

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
Hi all, thanks again for the replies. I think he NEVER has an overpair here. He almost always leads the flop, he doesn't check/raise it because of pot control.
Chris, I don't think I can call here. There are so many scare cards for me to dodge and I hate to fold on the turn there. So I agree with Doc who says that it's a shove or fold.
Anyone else before I show my decision?

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
OK, well this was tough imo, but felt I had to shove. So many draws out there and I have re-draws against made straights:
Flop (13.00) 6 7 5
SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets 11, 1 fold, UTG+1 raises to 29, Hero raises to 86.35, UTG+1 moves all-in for 51.90.
Turn (191.25) 3
River (191.25) 8
UTG+1 shows 6 6
Hero shows 5 5
UTG+1 wins 191.25 with Three of a kind, Six's
Sick spot

Re: Sick Spot With Bottom Set - Help!!!!
UL mate, not much really you could have done. I woulda shoved too despite me thinking its a bad idea.
You should stop hiding peoples name sin the hand histories, I'd be interested to know who some of these hands are against.
