GUKPT challenge
New Year's resolution? - play more live poker and to do so I have to qualify to some bigger events then tournaments in my local casino. I think GUKPT will be perfect choice as it's series of tournaments ( 10 or 11 a year) and buy-in looks more winable ($ 2750) then crazy $12000 or $14000 to the biggest events. So it's a chance to play live almost every month, all I have to do is qualify
The first of GUKPT this year is Brighton 17/01 - 20/01
qualifiers: Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in association with Bluesqpoker.com
I'm gonna start this Friday:

Re: GUKPT challenge
If you fancy some even cheaper and more winnable entries to live poker, look no further than Virgin Poker Festival of Poker. The next one is scheduled for the Spring in Newcastle...here's to a few more TDP'ers in this one .GIF)

Yep Rick think we will be going to the next Virgin one.
Good luck Kris, I have no doubt that you will qualify easily to a few tourneys this year. .GIF)

Re: GUKPT challenge
Thanks guys,
Next week I'm away to Oxford ( kinda proper job Kiko ), I'll be staying there for around 3 months - living in the hotel and having nothing to do except playing poker every evening so for once in my poker life I'll have a perfect conditions to play. Gotta qualify and increase my bankroll. Those are the targets , it doesn't have to be Brighton ( not much time left ) but the next one I really want to get into.
No doubt, I'll try to qualify to Newcastle trickrick, the problem is... Virgin Boss software hates me!!!

Re: GUKPT challenge
I just finished playing $109 qualifier , I must admit I wasn't at my best ( probably coz I was playing on Betfair at the same time ) It was a rebuy and after 1 quiet hour I found myself short stacked with around 1K in chips and most of my opponents had 3K to 7K - I was dealt AK, went all-in and was called by big stack with 44 and another guy with AK , no help on board and out I gone I will have to try to get to $270 freezout on Sunday

Re: GUKPT challenge
I hope I didn't curse you
Anyway thanks for the thread. I read it with interest and as a result I am trying to qualify for the Walsall leg as it is close to where I live.
I didn't play the sat you were in but tried the other two today without luck. I'm going to keep playing regularly these sats though - would love to play the Walsall leg of the tour.

Congratulations on qualifying Alex .GIF) .
If your looking for a town for a few beers after you get knocked out early then Newcastle will be a better choice
ot should I say
Seriously there isn't that much to do in Walsall. The Leather museam is quite interesting and I'm sure there is somewhelse but can't remember what. Other than that get the train to Birmingham and visit the main museam there in the city centre. There are also a few theatres as well as the symphony hall and adam boult hall should you prefer a classical concert or a bit of opera.
Wherver you play best of luck. I'm jealous really. I want to play in one too.

Re: GUKPT challenge
I was close to the next satelite but donked out on the bubble, don't know what's happening to me I seem to play pretty well and then I have a minute of madness , that's few days in a row, wow, maybe I am suicidal ?

Ah, and congrats on qualifying Alex,
I wouldn't mind if it was Walsall or whatever place on earth ... but eh, I still have to try.

Ed won a seat at the Midlands Masters in Walsall with Sporting Odds in 2006.
When Joe Legge Googled places to eat in Walsall to take us out it came up with Burger King. Sums it up.
The casino was okay and we stayed in 'The Village' which is straight across the motorway from the casino and was a lovely hotel (apart from a fat burd on a hen night collapsing at the door as we returned at night) and we went to Sutton Coldfield for our lunches.
