kicker rule

Had a game of poker with mates at rule, could someone tell me how the kicker rule works;

Flop A, Q, K, 3, 7

Hand 1: A, 2

Hand 2: A, J

No Flush, each had a pair of A's, but does the person with J win because he has the higher kicker or is it split pot?

Cheers
