TDP Poker League

Ive managed to get a poker room to host and supply a prize pool for a poker league. Can anyone adbvise me of the best format for it? Weekly? fortnightly? montly? etc i don't want to have to think about it all whilst i deforumify myself. I'll go email them to ask for a few days to decide. Maybe it could start just after the football season starts when we will be busier (again im working on that part whilst off the forum) anyone got any thoughts on this as i hold my hand up on this one and say 'i don't know best'.

I think weekly, on an agreed fixed day over a period of, say, 10 weeks? Maybe something like best 8 league scores out of 10, so it gives people a chance if they miss a week or 2?

I Have to Rick. You all have seen the decline in me the past year. I was too involved and as you all know it wasnt healthy. 7 years of talking to folks i hardly know whilst my family sit on the wings. I spend my time talking to me wee nephew on bebo and my sisters etc. well just for now. As i said i just wanted everything in place and even i dont like myself for the extremes i had to go to to get these things in place. anyhow lets not worry about me.

Im super cool with your weekly idea rick. I had an idea of monthly but as you see that wasnt one of my better ideas. Im all for going with your suggestion Rick unless others have a better plan. I'll get back to them this weekend with what you all agree on. truth be told Rick im just taking this opportunity to finish up all the wee things ive been trying to do for the place. Gonna get us all ready for the new season with a load of new posters etc. then i can relax

I agree with trickrick about having it weekly on a fixed day , 10 weeks with best 8 appears too long for me , if I wasn't in " the money" i would be losing interest in the last few weeks , i would prefer a 6 week with best 5 scoring allowing 1 missed week , monday to thursday would be my prefered option.
i'm not playing poker now but a tdp league would rekindle my interest i'm sure , may require diane prompting to ensure that i play though [ she did a great job motivating us useless partakers ]

I was suggesting starting it the Tueday after the premiership kicks off Traeth. again thoug thats just somewhere to start. We could start it earlier but the 4 weeks is a good promotion time and i was hoping we could start the new season wth a bang. Obviously we would make it invite only. I don't think it would wrong of me to mention that it's Mansion Poker that have shown interest in sponsoring it and the more folks that sign up for it the bigger the prize pool the will give us. I have suggested to them to making it a small buy-in ($5) as extra incentive. again though we could change that but i personally think a small extra incentive is a good thing.

6 week you say Traeth? youve got me back thinking of the 'first tueday of the month' idea. thats easy going. Im easy thugh. The anticipation to make amends for last month could get some folks to boiling point with excitement. also there is the 'oh no i can't do that come to think of it as thats the 1st tueday f the month isn't it? Aye first tuesday of the month is POKER LEAGUE. I can do it wednesday' - easy to remember and also non demanding. Just a thought.

Scorewise how will it work? 29 players finsih first get 29 points and 8pts bonus? nah how about we do it by cashes? whoever wins the most money wins the league? just a thought.

I don't mind taking your money on weekly basis guys , so I'm cool with that weekly idea - I'd change one thing, not 6 weeks but every month new league with 3 highest scores counting, you need to have a winner every month, people can give up on 6 weeks league if they outside the money 3 weeks in a row

I woulldn't do it invitation only - let the fish play , just get our forum name in the tournament lobby and that's advertisment for free. All in all sounds goooood!

k so its...na the sposors wont be kean on a 4 week competition kris i think. I think we have to offer them more coverage than that. I will need to get back to them asap so we'll need to sort it out. What about once a month for 6 months? if its weekly we would have to make it at least 8 weeks i would say kris. thats a bit long though. 6 weeks could be suffice. sod it i'll see if anyone comes backwith anythign and if it's as up in the air as it sounds then i will just explain to the woman at mansion hat we have no idea really and to ask her to suggest something. I will state that we want it as short as possible though. bah this aint gonna work. We'll see what happens

We meet again, Mr Spacecat, aka, River Dancer! I replied to this earlier but as is the norm when I type more than two paragraphs, the site crashed and I lost it all. Can't be arsed going over it again other than aiming for a cheap buy-in as I noticed it attracted a lot more players at $2+50 and seeing as it's mainly about pride I'd keep it low.

Just my thoughts but I do think you should avoid having the poker on nights where it could clash with many sporting events as it would result in many people missing each week.

This is just my opinion though from past experiences. Tuesday and Wednesdays usually bad IMO due to them being the dates of the Champions League, Internationals etc etc.

The quieter days for sporting events would be maybe Sunday nights, Mondays, Thursdays?

Nice one getting it organised. I will play as many as possible. On one condition though - that cnut Old Saint is barred!!
