Nah,

We've never been to the casino. You going to the UK Student Championship in Edinburgh in April? Might bump into you there if you are.

Re: Bragging Rights

Not at all, upon leaving school at 17 I had good enough highers to choose whatever university I wanted. I could have gone to St Andrews if I wanted, spoke with their dudes and they said I could get in no problem.
I ended up choosing dundee though.
I don't regret going to university at all, met alot of people, did alot of things, had alot of fun. I have great memories of it. I got chucked out before I graduated......Jezza actually got his degree, got a job in computers and then what did he do ? Quit his job cos he loved the gambling lifestyle so much. I merely cut out the middle man and didn't bother with the job in between.

I reckon perhaps you are the one with regrets gett1n
The world is still my oyster so to say. My academic years are not totally wasted and should I choose I could finish my degree either at any uni I choose or open uni as well. Hey I could go off to australia and finish it perhaps. I've got pretty much the freedom to do as I please which is why I do what I do. You have responsibilites and shit hence it's a little different for you, sometimes I get the impression you wish you didn't have these. Perhaps I am wrong but it's what I sense.

One of the main reasons people get degrees is for employment, I have no plans for employment hence I don't really need a degree.
Another reason people do degrees is to learn about stuff. I don't need to go to university to learn about stuff, I can do that on my own.
A certificate which lets you add a few letters after your name does not make you smart although many people seem to think it does. You would not believe some of the dumb fuckers that get degrees.

Re: Bragging Rights

Sorry christianu,
apparently all the tickets have been sold already. You could contact your uni's poker society and see if they have any spare.

Or you could hunt about on the forums in here and see if you can find anyone with speare tickets

Bah - can't turn this thread into a GC kind of jamboree as I'm dead against that as you all know. That said this is my fault, as I started it, so apologies.

Interesting Alien as you're quite right about what you say. I didn't go to Uni. I was entered into my Oxbridge at 17 years old, where I was invited for an interview with St Peters College at Oxford University, upon which I was made an offer of ABBB. I actually got AABB but asked for a year out that are definately GC related = And then I never went of course.

Regrets? Financially no. Educationally and spiritually? Absolutely.

You got me.

Re: Bragging Rights

Is that A levels you are talking about ? It's slightly different in england than in scotland innit, what does england have these days ?
That's the thing, money has never bothered me, I'm not arsed about earning loads and having all the mod cons etc. If you want shit loads of cash gambling is not the thing you wanna be getting involved in.
Some people treat education like a status symbol. I've got a 1st class honours from bla de bla uni, check me out I'm pure well dead clever etc.
Or they see a degree as a must have thing to be in the fancy people club.
Can't be fucked with those people.
I think going to university teaches you alot more just than what it does academically. You get alot of life experience from it in general.
Alot of people often make their friends for life at university.

Anyway we're supposed to be talking about poker right ? See when I was at uni there were of course local message boards and clubs on the uni computer network. I wanted to get a gambling one of the go......did I get any support ? Did I fuck ! ? Poker and gambling in general was still frowned upon then and the thought that someone could be skillful at cards/gambling and make a living was scoffed at ! The bastards !
Now they have fecking poker societys that receive funding and everything !
It may amuse you to know I spent a large amount of time when I should have been in lectures on the message boards laying into christians and generally nit picking everything I could with the bible and religion in general.

It's interesting how things change, poker is now played amongst different universities the same way hockey or football etc is. Such a large change in only 10 years. Internet of course has played a large part.

Are you trying to say that me and you are alike? :loon

Its not religion I have the problem with by the way Alien, it makes people happy including my grandparents, its all good. You completely misunderstood what I was saying in that thread, its the people who go to the streets shouting and screaming the stuff and saying such stupid things, etc...the people within the religion, its not even that, its just people in general I have a problem with

Ahh The poker forum is the new GC anyway Gett1n

Re: Bragging Rights

I'm quite sure you need to be in higher education but they bend the rules all the time. I know plenty of people going who aren't even students. I bet I could get you in if I wanted. Well, I know I could. But you'd have to very nice to me and frankly I don't think you have the time between now and April 2nd to give me THAT number of blowjobs.
