Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise League - TDP Team?

I'll have a go if there's a 'slightly-above-beginners-but-not-as-good-as-they-think-they-are' team being built.

who´ll pay the buyin?

22$ x 20 weeks = 440$

A bit too much for league fun imo.
make sense muzi ...

Best of luck. I normally play only 5$ MTTs or STTs not higher. I´m learning this game. Will be better after 2 years of play but not good enough to invest max. 440$ to it.

Need some practise .. maybe in one or two years I´ll give it a try.

I'd be interested.

Just to be clear do you log in to your laddies account & join tourney individually?
Do they then collate your team info?

Monday nights listen to footie anyway so bit of poker won't go amiss

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise League - TDP Team?

I'm going to have to give this a miss - I just can't commit to 20 weeks playing on Mon night and it seems pointless not playing all games.

I don't want to be a killjoy either but if 100 teams register then it will be a field of 400 to negotiate each week which will mean late finishes if I can dodge all the bullets in the minefield. I would imagine it will require at least a top ten finish each week from one of the team of four to stand a chance to get through. Anymore than 100....

Sorry to be a pessimist but good luck to all who enter.

That's true Colbro, but like any league the number of players will dwindle as the league goes on - and also, we're looking for people who would be playing $20 STTs as a matter of course, in which case its just normal set of tournies with a few nice wee bonuses at the end.

Still, its worth bearing in mind that it could be a full night a week for half the year nearly - but if we can get a team or teams that are prepared to make that full commitment then it already puts us at an advatage over the teams that won't.

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise League - TDP Team?

I've just seen the website and there are over 350 teams registered so far.
350 times 4 is at least 1400 players each week (all paying $2 commision to enter which multiplied by 20 weeks is $56000 for ladbrokes to pay for the cruises and extra cash prizes).

I think there would be better value paying $20 on a $5 rebuy for a daily final. Todays final had 35 players with 4 qualifying for the weekly final. There it will be a one in ten chance of winning the cruise. Still very difficult I know but I think the odds are better that way.

1400 players will mean the winner not being known until about 3 or 4am I think.

Hmmm that is quite a few innit Even if half dont turn up it's still a bg field. Thanks for the heads up Col - you're right in that time could be better spent in the individual tournies...

What we think folks? Yay or nay in light of Col's super sleuthing?

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise League - TDP Team?

I think my previous post mat be wrong. Even though the link says "teams" I have just been back to recount and actually read what I was counting this time and the "350" I refered to could actually be players rather than teams. I think now it is closer to 80 teams.
Sorry for misleading people here.

In that case you have been downgraded to moderate sleuth Col

Still quite a few...can we have definite names down tomorrow then...we going for this or not?

Remember, you have to ideally either:

a) be willing to commit to 20 weeks at $20 a pop

or

b) if you cannot manage all weeks, be willing to let someone play from your account should we require it

Re: Ladbrokes Poker Cruise League - TDP Team?

yo Beanie,

I'm still in, no problems with $20 as I usually play Monday Night Takedown on Paradise which is $25 - so I can even save $5 a week

I may have a problem in 2 or 3 weeks with internet connection, I may not play then in 2 to 4 tourneys in a row. I'm moving up north ( gonna live closer to you guys ) and before I find a house for my family I'll have to live in some bed&breakfasts where I doubt I'll get an internet connection. Is there any way to connect without taking a 12 month contract for datacard in O2 or Tmobile? I'd like to take my lappie with me and play but I need to find some pay-as-u-go internet option.

I'll be available for any fool who needs a stand in at any point but $20 is too rich for me to actually be in any team.
