Cheers for letting me know Beanie, I've changed my Top European bet to Olazabal @40/1. Come on Olly!

Nice day on the 3 balls as Slocum and Perez win comfortably, Glover gets a nice birdie at the last to win his, and Mahan ties with Choi for a half stake win. Fair play to big John Daly - great round that I never thought he had in him. Thank feck Langer pulled out as Daly would be making mincemeat of him at the mo.

Up and down day otherwise...some steady rounds from Glover/Verplank/Mahan and a poor one from Stenson, mixed in with some terrible scores from Di Marco and Stricker.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Haha, yeah, was out playing tennis and decided to have a check of the BBC Golf page on my phone at the change of ends. They always have a picture of the leader at the top of the updates page and I did have a wee chuckle when I was crossing my fingers to see someone like Johnson on there and Daly's chubby coupon popped up on my screen.

Temperature touched an obscene 110 degrees this afternoon there and the morning starters definately had the better of things(which makes Storm's round all the better.) Course playing a bit tougher than I thought it might and a lot of the big names didn't get to grips with it at all...off for a look at 2moro's 3 balls.

Average score today was a +4 74 so basically if anyone you backed went round in +2 or better then that was a good opening round.

Let me take a gander through how the 7 guys I backed are getting on...
Quote:
To win Ive gone for VJ Singh (33/1), Zach Johnson e/w (66/1) and Geoff Ogilvy (113/1).
Singh +5, Johnson +4, Ogilvy -1.

Singh and Johnson had similar rounds, both did well bar random slips, Johnson with 2 double bogeys and VJ with a double and a triple bogey . I still think Johnson could pick up, not impressed with VJ though he only made 1 birdie. Well pleased with Ogilvy though sitting pretty on -1, 7 birdies and 6 bogies for him today!

Quote:
Im sticking with 3 bets I made for the US Open exactly the same which are all Top 5 bets, Justin Rose (7/1), Tim Clark (11/1) and Chris Di Marco (12/1).
Rose Par, DiMarco +9, Clark +12.

2 absolute nightmares and a good round. May as well forget about DiMarco and Clark, they wont make the cut, those are disgusting scores. Clark did the back 9 in +9 Rose continues to go well though and Par puts him right in the mix.

Quote:
One Top 10 bet ive made is Steve Stricker (6/1).
Bad round from Stricker on +7. Hes gona have to shoot under par to make the cut tomorrow so have to wait and see. Wont hold my breath though but since its a top 10 bet if he does sneak the right side of the cut thered still be legs in it.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

1 player I will be keeping my eye on with a view to a possible bet later is Colombian Camilo Villegas. Nice round of -1 today and is said to be the most 'ripped' guy on tour so is obviously fit as a fiddle. He wont come highly rated either so the odds will be pretty good. If he shoots par or better tomorrow ill do something I reckon. Only if he remains underpar though. Hes nicknamed Spiderman on tour cos of the unique way he analyses the putting surface

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

First things first, even with the stat of so many wire to wire winners, Storm should fall back into the pack tomorrow...every time he has shot a good round this season in R1 he's followed it up with a poor one...65-73 in Hong Kong, 68-72 in Spain, 63-72 in Austria, 66-74 in France(which he went on to win), 65-72 in Scotland etc etc. On the biggest stage I can't see him holding it together tomorrow if he hasn't done it in smaller events.

Having said that the markets seem to agree with that as he's 34s on the exchanges.

No liquidity on the 3balls so will have to wait till morning to do them.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Stinking opening day for me with Rollins the only one not to lose his 3 ball(And he opnly dead heated at that!) Verplank Choi and Glover were the only bright spots. Furyk had a mare and will probably need to shoot under par today to make the cut. Cabrera on +9 is almost certainly gone, Olazabal as top European ain't gonna happen either.

Hopefully better to come today! Well doen Beanie on those 3 balls, great show!

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Right hopefully todays 3 balls will fare better than yesterdays stinkers.

Snedeker to beat Storm and Herbert @10/11: Surely Storm is gonna do what unknown journeymen generally do the day after shooting a brilliant 65 in a major? I'm thinking a 77. Hopefully Snedeker can take advantage.

Verplank to beat Allenby and Jiminez @Evens: Scott looks like he means business this week. Allenby and Jimenez poor recent form seems to be continuing.

Rollins V Small and Dougherty @10/11: Gonna stick with Rollins today.

Furyk to beat Donald and Byrd @13/8: Big round needed by Jim today, hopefully he can deliver.

Shall also be sticking 4 quid on Verplank to be 2nd round leader @25/1.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Davis Love v Singh/Brooks @ 2.68

Singh looked a little disinterested yesterday. He's played golf every week for a crazy length of time and it might just all be catching up with him and if he gets off to a bad start today he'll prob switch off again. Love has been playing pretty well over the last few weeks and knows how to put decent rounds together...again just a case of take the steady over the inconsistent.

Verplank v Allenby/Jimenez @ 2.06

More eggs in the Verplank basket - he played some very steady golf yesterday and is the type of golfer who can learn from his rounds quickly - if he can turn a few more of those birdie chances into actual birdies he could well put together a nice round today...certainly hitting the ball well enough. Jimenez and Allenby not really getting to grips with the course at all.

Lay Daly v Micheel/Elkington @ 3.45

Once bitten twice shy...or not. I was amazed by Daly's round yesterday...I'll be even more stunned if he manages a 2nd good round considering he usually manages to blow good positions over the space of a few holes never mind a few days. In the midday heat today too - Big John wont like that and I'd expect atleast one of his opponents to kick themselves into gear today.

Cink v Els/Montgomerie @ 2.72

Not convinced by either Els or Monty yesterday who both failed to capitalise on good starts, and in the warmer conditions today I think Monty will certainly fade. The course isn't really suited to Els' game, while Cink is one I'd expect to build on yesterday's ok round and possibly get back into contention.

Howell III v Katayama/Westwood @ 3.30

Poor round from Howell yesterday but he's experienced enough to learn from it and get himself in with a chance of making the cut today. Westwood was good iin round 1 but he often fails to build on that and in the sun today his challenge could wilt.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Lay Harrington Top 10 @ 2.16

He's playing well and has bags of confidence, but that price seems awfully short at this early stage. Lots of golf to go in some testing temperatures.

Rose Top UK and Ire @ 4.60

Should be atleast joint fav wiith Harrington here...he's the one with the track record iin the USA who has proved he can play in these temperatures and on these type of courses. Some tough days ahead and Rose's consistency could prove crucial. Storm unlikely to maintain form, Westwood ditto, Donald not playing well enough at the mo, Casey a bit hit and miss.

Re: USPGA (US Tour) Live On Sky

Anyone got any info as to what the rules are for the cut? Is it everyone within 10 shots of the leader or a certain number of players or what?
