Re: GOLF: HSBC World Match Play , BBC Tv, Thurs, Wentworth
Just missed out again on a clean sweep!!...pisses me rright off that does.
Still , shouldn't have any complaints as 3 singles and a treble were beefed up by a cracking double on Micheel/Karlsson.
Why do the bookies KEEP underestimating Micheel?...now he is the 100/30 outsider of the semi finalists!! What more does the boy have to do?
Weir/Casey: not that great a match to watch , with neither really making a go of it. Casey just made less mistakes in the end, plus Weir's injury didn't help , but he was out the running then anyway.
Semi Final:
Casey / Monty:
Casey has had a bit if luck already in his 2 rounds and facing Monty is probably the best he could have hoped for. Monty is his usual self, with his mood swings more consistent than his golf swings!
Close call this one , hard to give the edge either way, but I'm taking Monty based on his overall scoring during the tournament , plus the fact that he has come back from more than 3 behind.
Casey should be fitter,...and that is a factor , but I'm going to bet on the 'elder' statesman ruling over the 'young pretender'.
Karlsson/Micheel:
Well at least we know we have a finalist! ..and more than likely the overall Champion.
Karlsson @ 20/1 Micheel @ 12/1
Karlsson crushed Furyk with brilliant scoring in the 1st round , but today he was well below that form. Having said that Cabrera didn't help to raise the standard.
I believe I was spot on with my view that he would 'wilt' or get a bit 'bored' . Struggles to fight back in this format.
Anyway..... Micheel has played tremendous golf tee to green ,and will be full of confidence now. Maybe slightly starting to tire himself , but they all will, I suppose.
This will be a 'no bet' match as I have them covered already , but here's my thinking:
My pocket says Karlsson , but my eyes say Micheel. The question is who will start the better.?
If the Swede gets 2 or 3 up in the opening 10 holes I'd say the Yank will not be able to respond , but neither have really been in a seriously bad position in their games so far (only behind once a piece) , so not able to say with any certainty as to how they will react.
Karlsson can dominate an opponent when he plays well , while I find Micheel doesn't have that impact.
Karlsson gets my very slim vote.

Re: GOLF: HSBC World Match Play , BBC Tv, Thurs, Wentworth
Another good game and a walkover......Casey was just too good on the day and he is very hard to cope with when he gets his head in front like he did today.
Karlsson had his chances , but fair play to Micheel as he has maintained his form all week.
With Micheel@ 12/1 already taken , there is room to hedge with Casey.
I have to say again that I find it amazing that the bookies have been wrong everytime in their assesment of Micheel. I pointed out he was the 0/30 outsider of the semi finalists following the pattern from his first round match, and he goes thru...now he is again the outsider in the final.....he's been the best player all week ...so why should he not be the true fav?
Crazy stuff, but delighted to have profited from it.
Casey best odds of 4/7...I'll have a small hedge to cover the stakes , but I'm taking a strong position that Micheel will win again......he's had that look all week.

Re: GOLF: HSBC World Match Play , BBC Tv, Thurs, Wentworth
Micheel having a bad day...that focus that got him to the final is absent , while Casey appears to be thriving on it.
Micheel started badly against Karlsson as well over the opening 18 , but came back, however he does look a bit jaded now...tired legs and mind.
Stanjames are betting on it hole by hole...some possible decent bets there as it's 3/1 or 0/30 Casey/Micheel....

Re: GOLF: HSBC World Match Play , BBC Tv, Thurs, Wentworth
fancy Casey for the 24th...3/1 ...Ave it!!...too late to punt it ,
but the 25th for Casey I think has shown the better form, plus the pressure increases on Micheel as we count them down, so take advantage of the ante post odds from stanjames as these prices don't reflect the true chances ......

Re: GOLF: HSBC World Match Play , BBC Tv, Thurs, Wentworth
lovely stuff on 24th, well done Casey.
Seems crazy to suggest that ANYONE could be disinterested in a $1m prize , but we don't know the finances of the top players....Micheel just screams ' enough of this' in his body language....
Casey 26th hole @ 11/4...odds getting shaved now...but still worth a punt...
