Your Local Track

I only seem to go to the dogs when everybody wants to get drunk. My local track is Owlerton in Sheffield. The track seems quite good, well maintained and never seems to have too much bias. The bar prices are decent and the food ain't too bad.

The only problem with Owlerton is the betting, on the rails the over round seems to be really high and the only other easy option is the tote. I hate betting on the tote, its so unpredictable at the track especially when its quiet. Put a tenner on and the price will move around quite a lot.

Re: Your Local Track

Bell Vue is only 10 mins down the rd but i've not been in a long while now.
Used to be a lot better when the fairground and zoo was next door and you could get in for free once you had paid into the Dogs or was it speedway? can't remember now may have been both.

Anyhow any mention of the dogs nowadays is usually associated with a stag do and i aint been on one of those for a few yrs either.

Nearest track to me too (about 3 miles) although never been there. Have been to Hall Green plenty of times tho - what's Cov like for a night out TD? do you get the usual gammon with pineapple meal?

Re: Your Local Track

Hi Collette

Havnt been to the Restaurant at Coventry for over a year, but as I recall think Gammon was one of the choices!
Its a good night out there on a Sunday, especially now the weather is gettting nicer.Tends to be a fair crowd most weeks, but what I like its mainly genuine Dog people who really know the sport, not the 6 packers you get at most tracks on a Saturday night.
