I agree with everything you posted Jezza. And I hope you don't think I'm being rude when I say that I worked all that out myself.

BUT

If you are wrong about him having AA or KK you only get called by a better hand. It is conceiveable he plays the turn awfully and that disguises his bigger set or straight?

It's so marginal - I would have checked the river and seen his cards I think. I do think your probably 99% correct on the KK or AA by the way though.

Funnily enough if the river doesn't make a straight or a flush then I might push all in? Then he might take that bet as a missed draw - 'why such a big bet on the river?' you hope he is thinking. Then his AA or KK get's pwned.

Just my $0.02

I thought the same and I told Jezza this Gett1n (plus by checking I get to see what he has ). However you gotta trust your reads so it boils down to that really.

Yep sorry mate, no way was I trying to patronise you (If there is 1 thing in life I hate it is smart-asses who patronise people - part of the reason I avoid the ratrace and definately something I make a point of never doing). I was just trying to recreate the thought process behind the bet at the end is all.

I did very nearly check at the end. You are right a missed draw on the board might have made him more likely to call I agree. Although if there HAD been a flush draw on board I would have played the hand much faster on the flop. This might have created a bigger pot and I might have got it all, it also might have let him get away - could have gone either way I really dont know.

Gonna join in on this river thing..
My thought is the same as gett1n..
Only way you are getting called by a good players is if he has the a better hand..

Another way i have thinked of playing a hand like this, instead of check or raise, and problably win both times, accept with your self that you could be all in, in this hand, and then only raise 1/5 of the pot.. Hope he is calling because of the GREAT odds... And then believe enough in your read that you have him beaten, so if he moves in on you, you will still call him, and get a lot of extra $$

Dont know if that could be a strategy to use here..

You could do that, he might make a crying call cos of the great odds. I dont believe for one second hed move all in over the top though Cains (with a big pair) but yeah you could make more money that way. BUT in the long run pushing large would earn you more for the times they call the large bet I believe.

Re: An interesting (and very deep stacked) hand

As the leadewr of the poker league and being quite drunk even though its really early I think I deserve a say...
Push all-in preflop! Damn it! I am really drunk!!!!!

Don't listen to me!!!!!!!!!

EDITED TO INCLUDE REASONS WHY BEANIE IS A IDIOT

1) Beanie never played drinking apprentice last night! We had to drink whenever antone did anything or said wnything (no wonder I'm bloddy hungover)

2) Beanie never came to Dundee to party (neither did I cuse it was nearly 12 before it was time t go and I was tired)

3) I decided to have a take away and walk home, but on the way I thought it would be fun to go home through peoples gardens instead of the road. I ended up going in to someones house through a back door just to see if it was open. Also got lots of cut on my legs and arms from woking my way through hedges and climbing over fences. This doesn't mean Beanie's an idiot, I just wanyed to tell my story!

4) Beanie refuses to partake in the house banter!

REASONS WHY BEANIE IS FUN:

1) only got one: he didn't stop me an dpistol spraying HP barbeque sauce in his carpet just to test out how good the Vanish spray is.
