Re: international friendly

Japan - Egypt

Picks:
1- Lay Japan @1.82 w/BetFair OR back Egypt +0.5 A.H. @ 2.10 w/Bet365 (3 stakes)
2- Back Under 2.25 goals @ 1.95 w/BetFair (8 stakes)
3- Ht/Ft: Draw/Draw @ 5.00 w/BetFair (1 stake)

P.S. reduced stakes due to it being a friendly, but I would strongly advise you to take these bets in this proportion.

Reasoning:

Odds are totally unrealistic IMHO. First of all, Egypt is traveling with the best squad they can field. Apart from Mido whom is injured, noone else is missing.

Second; Japan has not called on their European based players. They are using only players from the J-League.

Third, Egypt usually does well against the Eastern Asian squads, and namely Japan & South Korea.

Japan’s palyed 3 friendlies after the Asian Cup campaign, and they won 2-0 over Cameroon and 4-3 over Switzerland, and drew 0-0 vs Austria.

Egypt’s last game was on Saturady at home vs Botswana, and the home team won by the odd goal and sealed their qualification to the African Cup of Nations finals in Ghana next January.

It was not at all what the fans expected from their national team though. They may have had possession most of the time, but they failed to pose any real threat on the Botswanian goal.

On the contrary, Botswana had 2 one-on-one breaks and could have scored if it wasn’t for the experience of El-Hadary.
But the substitutes worked well and Omar Gamal scored in the 75th minute to secure the win, and I would expect most of the Egyptian 2nd line-up to feature on this friendly, which –as weird as it may sound- is a better squad than the “old guards”.

However, knowing Shehata’s tactics (or rather lack of) I would expect a goalless draw.

Of course, nothing’s to be taken for granted, but the odds on Japan are way too low, so I am very much tempted to go full stakes laying Japan. (But note that my advice to YOU is to lay them with only 4 stakes).

In general, Egypt vs the two East Asian giants ends goalless or 1-0/0-1 at max. Nothing new here, and with Egypt's weak attack and strong defence vs a depleted Japanese side I would still expect a goalless draw, hence the under 2.25 is a very good bet, whilest 5.00 on the draw/draw double result represents value to me.

Re: international friendly

Great write-up, bakakadassa and from Specs also

Was considering the draw between Japan and Egypt, but maybe I'll take Egypt +0.5 in the end.
Under 2.5 is best priced in Interwetten and bWin - 1.75 and that looks a decent price, really. Bet365 and 10bet offer 1.95 for under 2.25.
Hope this friendly will bring many cigars all round.
