Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers: 17th Nov

Aye not bad at all mick thanks. Ill try posting it here-

European Championship Qualifying : Group A Table
17 October 2007 21:36
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Poland 12 7 3 2 20 10 10 24
2 Portugal 12 6 5 1 23 10 13 23
3 Serbia 12 5 5 2 19 9 10 20
4 Finland 12 5 5 2 11 6 5 20
5 Belgium 12 4 3 5 13 14 -1 15
6 Armenia 10 2 3 5 4 11 -7 9
7 Kazakhstan 12 1 4 7 10 20 -10 7
8 Azerbaijan 10 1 2 7 5 25 -20 5
Poland will be guaranteed a spot at the Euro 2008 finals with victory over Belgium next month, though Portugal, Serbia and Finland could take top spot from them. Finland take on Portugal in their final group game, which could prove the decider.

European Championship Qualifying : Group B Table
17 October 2007 21:47
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 France 11 8 1 2 23 3 20 25
2 Scotland 11 8 0 3 20 10 10 24
3 Italy 10 7 2 1 17 7 10 23
4 Ukraine 10 5 1 4 16 12 4 16
5 Lithuania 10 3 1 6 7 13 -6 10
6 Georgia 11 3 1 7 16 17 -1 10
7 Faroe Islands 11 0 0 11 3 40 -37 0
It's a three-way fight for two places between France, Scotland and Italy. Scotland will qualify if they beat Italy in their final game, though a draw will be enough for the Scots in the unlikely event that Italy lose their game in hand against the Faroe Islands. If Italy win their game in hand, France have to match Scotland's result to qualify as the Scots would finish above them on head-to-head results if they are level on points.

European Championship Qualifying : Group C Table
17 October 2007 21:25
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Greece 10 8 1 1 18 9 9 25
2 Norway 10 6 2 2 22 8 14 20
3 Turkey 10 5 3 2 22 10 12 18
4 Bosnia-Herzegovina 11 4 1 6 16 21 -5 13
5 Hungary 10 4 0 6 10 17 -7 12
6 Moldova 11 2 3 6 9 19 -10 9
7 Malta 10 1 2 7 9 22 -13 5

Greece go through after securing at least a top-two place. It's a fight between Norway and Turkey for the second qualifying spot with two games to go.

European Championship Qualifying : Group D Table
17 October 2007 21:36
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Germany 10 7 2 1 31 7 24 23
2 Czech Republic 10 7 2 1 22 4 18 23
3 Rep of Ireland 11 4 4 3 15 12 3 16
4 Cyprus 10 4 2 4 17 18 -1 14
5 Slovakia 10 4 1 5 27 20 7 13
6 Wales 10 4 1 5 16 17 -1 13
7 San Marino 11 0 0 11 2 52 -50 0

Germany and the Czech Republic have qualified.

European Championship Qualifying : Group E Table
17 October 2007 20:53
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Croatia 10 8 2 0 25 4 21 26
2 England 11 7 2 2 22 4 18 23
3 Russia 10 6 3 1 16 5 11 21
4 Israel 10 5 2 3 17 11 6 17
5 FYR Macedonia 10 3 2 5 10 11 -1 11
6 Estonia 11 1 1 9 3 21 -18 4
7 Andorra 10 0 0 10 2 39 -37 0

Croatia need just one point from their remaining two games to qualify. Russia will qualify if they win their remaining two games, while England, who play Croatia at Wembley in their last game, need Russia to slip up.

European Championship Qualifying : Group F Table
17 October 2007 21:27
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Sweden 10 7 2 1 21 5 16 23
2 Spain 10 7 1 2 19 8 11 22
3 Denmark 10 5 2 3 17 9 8 17
4 Northern Ireland 10 5 2 3 15 12 3 17
5 Latvia 10 3 0 7 10 14 -4 9
6 Iceland 11 2 2 7 10 24 -14 8
7 Liechtenstein 11 2 1 8 8 28 -20 7

Only an unlikely combination of results and head-to-head comparisons can stop Sweden from qualifying, who need just a point from their last two games to make sure. Spain will also qualify with three points from their last two games. Denmark and Northern Ireland both need to win their remaining two games and hope other results go their way.

European Championship Qualifying : Group G Table
17 October 2007 21:41
P W D L F A GD PTS
1 Romania 10 8 2 0 20 5 15 26
2 Holland 10 7 2 1 13 3 10 23
3 Bulgaria 10 5 4 1 15 7 8 19
4 Albania 10 2 5 3 9 8 1 11
5 Slovenia 11 3 2 6 9 14 -5 11
6 Belarus 10 2 1 7 11 20 -9 7
7 Luxembourg 11 1 0 10 2 22 -20 3

Romania have qualified. Holland will join them at Euro 2008 with a win from their last two games, or if Bulgaria slip up.

We'll it kinda worked.

Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers: 17th Nov

italy is my call @2.00

this is the nightmare scenario for scots, as i posted in previous threads, to fight for qualification with italians

may all great wins of scots proved to be meaningless at the end of the day...

i hope all i lost in celtic v milan game, to receive back

italy all the way for me

class difference is huge, italians must win, and we all know the monsters, killers in such cases, waiting to see that big match.... lets see..

Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers: 17th Nov

Just to point a couple of things out Martens;

* Italy have NEVER won in Glasgow (record is something like a few draws and a 1-0 defeat in '65).
* A point is enough for Italy against Scotland because they still have a game in hand on us, against the Faroes, which a win in would be enough to put them through, so a draw is certainly no loss for them.

Personally, I'd be laying Italy at evens.

Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers: 17th Nov

No its in Israel and that price is way too low for Russia imo. I thought theyd be about Evens, not 1/2. Just cos they really need to win doesnt mean they will to that great extent. If this was a normal scenario, say a few months ago or whatever, I think theyd probly be about 6/4.

Not having Benayoun in the team is a bitch though as hes Israels best player. Israel drew 1-1 in Russia, England got held away to Israel 0-0. Im pretty adamant Russia shouldnt be short odds in this one, Israel are a tough team to beat at home.

LMAO

Those odds on Russia are the biggest joke i have ever seen in football betting.

I don't care if Israel have nothing to play for anymore, that is ridiculous odds and it looks like the Israeli's will be recieving a lovely huge sum from the Russian mafia to throw this game.

I honeslty came in here thinking 6/4 roughly for the Russian. Really can;t believe them odds but i am not touching the game as there is definately something fishy going on.

Russia have hardly been impressive on the road either have they.

Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers: 17th Nov

Quote:
It's not often that match odds genuinely startle you but my eyes definitely popped out when seeing how the layers had priced up Israel v Russia.

The game, of course, holds massive interest for England as a win for Russia will stop Steve McClaren's side qualifying for the finals.

But odds of 1/2 about a Russian win belong very much in the category of "because they have to win, they will".

If this was the first game of a qualifying campaign, Russia would certainly be odds against and deservedly so.

That's because Israel's home record is extremely strong. In the last 17 internationals they've lost just twice - a 2-0 friendly defeat to Denmark in March 2006 and a 4-3 loss to group leaders Croatia earlier in this qualifying campaign.

Of the 15 games in which they've avoided defeat, Israel have won seven and drawn eight (including a 0-0 draw with England) so it's more than fair to categorise them as hard to beat.

So much depends on how seriously Israel are taking the game.

In theory, there's nothing in it for them and that's why Russia are 1/2.

But time and time again we've seen teams in their situation go out and win with the pressure off, and it can do no harm to England's chances that most Israelis love the Premiership and that affection extends to the national team too.

Obviously Russia coach Guus Hiddink is a wily old fox and should be respected in a situation like this but his team hardly pulled up any trees when losing 3-0 at Wembley in their last away outing and before that they lost 4-1 to Holland in Amsterdam - surely a game in which Dutchman Hiddink wanted to do well.

Yes, any result is possible here but there's simply no way that Russia should be 1/2 chances and given that we want the draw running for us we'll back Israel on the handicaps at &&&.

Scotland need a win from their final game to claim an unexpected place in the finals but despite having home advantage they have a huge hurdle to overcome as Saturday's opponents are World champions Italy.

If you had to pick a team to avoid defeat, Italy would probably be first choice and the Azzurri will no doubt run through all the necessary tricks of the trade which they've perfected down the years.

Scotland are as big as 11/4 to pull it off while the Italians can be backed at 11/10.

The draw, which has to be a big player, is predictably cramped with several 2/1 quotes around although 11/5 is on offer.

Those who believe in coincidences will point to the fact that Italy failed to qualify for the 1984 Euro Championships having won the World Cup two years earlier but it's easy to see Saturday turning into a rather predictable case of brave Scottish failure.

Luca Toni's brace gave Italy a 2-0 win in the first meeting and the big striker is the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season after firing in nine goals for Bayern Munich.

The 2/1 at bet365 about him finding the net at anytime looks generous - especially as he's Evens elsewhere.

Wales and the Republic of Ireland have both endured disappointing campaigns and their clash in Cardiff screams 'no bet'.

The Irish have already given Steve Staunton the boot while the Welsh camp isn't exactly the happiest place to be either with John Toshack wittering on about "pampered" lifestyles after his side's recent poor performances.

A Stephen Ireland goal gave the Republic a 1-0 win at Croke Park back in March but all three results look possible and this inconsistent pair should be left well alone.

Northern Ireland can still qualify but need six points against Denmark (home) and Spain (away) and results to go their way elsewhere.

In Lawrie Sanchez's reign, the Province were surprise contenders for a finals place but, despite a good draw in Sweden last time, under Nigel Worthington their dreams of qualifying have almost vanished.

Denmark have the same number of points as Northern Ireland and are set to miss out too so they're dubious odds-on shots to score an away win.

If you do play this game, the 2/1 about Jon Dahl Tomasson scoring is the best bet.

His international scoring record is superb, hovering just below the goal every other game mark, and he's netted in the last three qualifiers. He takes penalties too.

I will be having a little on the draw and Italy 1-0 and 2-0. I wont be shouting it on though. good luck Scotland.

Norway v Turkey looks a great game. Hard one to predict though to me. anyone any thoughts or info on that one? How about Sweden stuttering to a draw?
