Re: Confederations Cup - 15th - 29th June

The Daily Punt Summer Competition has given you all an opportunity to pick your winners in the matches on the 15th and 16th June.

Greece could hold out agains Brazil for a draw maybe? I'm sure I'm correct when I say that Brazil have never been the best in (what is effectively) a friendly game. We all know about the Greece side having seen them become crowned European Champions through hard work and good team play.

Odds for the draw are about 13 / 5

Re: Confederations Cup - 15th - 29th June

Edit (14th June 2005) Decided to have 3pts on Tunisia to qualify for the semis @ 4.00

I see Herr Franz Buckumfucker is critising the national team again especially the selection of inexperienced defenders

Not sure I'd like to back the Germans at such short prices to top the group as some seem to have done.

Re: Confederations Cup - 15th - 29th June

brilliant. thnks beanie

cant see past the argies myself. 3/1 is gone i think but can get 11/4 still. ive got a few points on them each way.

want to lay the greeks as well because i dont think they are as good as they think they are (erm...what?)

a lay of them to qualify for the semis would be nice i think. can see the mexicans beating them and i fancy the japs to run them close as well. just cant see them being up for this as muchas they need to be. thats the only reason really. pretty tame

in group a arg to win it and maybe a wee tickle on the aussies to beat germany tomorrow. cant never really read germany but 1/3 is waaaaay too short.

hmmm what to do what to do

Re: Confederations Cup - 15th - 29th June

Im with you dave...a bit confused about how to start this off.

Since no one can say for sure just how up for it the teams will be, I think its 'dip your toes in the water' time...

To start with, Argentina odds are too short. The Tunisians aren't too bad a side, and I've only read positive things coming from their camp. Seemingly also they have come on leaps and bounds in recent years with the inclusion of foreign born players(including a few Brazilians.)

Im not brave enough to take Tunisia on the handicap, as Argentina could well notch a couple to put that bet to bed, but I'll make a tentative start with:

1pt HT Draw @ 2.63 w/Sporting Odds

And...

0.5pts 1-0 Argentina @ 7.00 @ Blue Sq
0.5pts 2-0 Argentina @ 7.50 @ Blue Sq

Very small stakes start till I can guage the appetite the teams will show for this tournament.

Re: Confederations Cup - 15/29th June - Live c5

Brazil team v Greece:

Dida; Cicinho, Lúcio, Roque Júnior and Gilbert; Emerson, Zé Robert, Kaká and Ronaldinho; Robinho and Adriano.

some bits 'n bobs...

Argentina's starting line up against Tunisia has been announced by the manager:

Quote:
Germa'n Lux; Fabricio Coloccini, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Gabriel Heinze; Mario Santana, Lucas Bernardi, Juan Pablo Sorín, Maximiliano Rodriguez; Juan Roman Riquelme; Luciano Galletti and Javier Saviola.
no Tevez, Samuel, Aimar, Kily Gonzalez or Milito but it should still be enough... (bp 1.37 centrebet.)

Tevez and Gonzalez the most signifivant omissions imo, Heinze will probably play in central def. and he's better than Samuel in that position.

Quote:
Also it spoke on the importance of the Glass of the Confederations: "This match is going to give much to us for the future. We must live each experience and each party and each encounter represent much. An objective never is far from another one. It is never possible to be in agreement. If desire and you do not play well you are not in agreement. All sum ", explained.

FIFA gave in last night to the demands of Chivas to let 5 of their players play against Boca in the Copa Lib; they were to travel to Germany straight after the match (leaving about 2am GMT this morning.) Not really the best prep for Mexico here...

Brazil v Greece O2.5 - 2.00 @b365, 2.08 pointbet, 2.05 bf.

Brazil's formation (4 up front) will be even more attack minded than usual and can't see the Greeks keeping them out. Likewise, Brazil's defence for this game is poor and Greece have every chance to score themselves, possibly on the counter.

Re: Confederations Cup - 15/29th June - Live c5

So what can we take from that?

I didn't see either game, but it doesn't sound as if either of the two big sides in action were impressive today. Their attacking class got both through in the end, but as for being solid

As Was tipped earlier with Tunisia, we could well see some of the outsiders take results from the big sides as coaches start to tinker with their sides.

I think my vBookie cash on Brazil outright is turning out to be a good bet. Brazil have always been bad losers and after their embarrassing defeat last week they will want to make up for it.

Argentina and Germany didnt impress me at all today - truth be told, i was rather disapointed as i expected big performances.

The Brazil attacking line up is awesome - i think it suits them better without Ronaldo as he isnt the genius he once was.

Re: Confederations Cup - 15/29th June - Live c5

I seen highlights - and they can tell a different story from what really happened. A little round up - Germany, great attacking side - they are quite impressive from what i imagined they wouldve been. There defence didnt seem to bad - a mixture of decent goals and an error or two here and there made them out worse than they were.

Austrailia looked alright - but i can't see them sustaining this form, i think it wouldve been a one off. Poor definsively though.

Argentina were ok - Riquelme looked to be running the show. The game was a matter of missed chances, which if taking couldve swung the game either way.

Tunisia offered a lot more than i thought they would - technically not a bad side, lack of experience seems to be a problem for them.

Like i said though - this is from what i seen of the highlights.
