Re: Nascar Thread.

Looks like the Bookie boys are running scared of Nascar and are slowly learning that this is a tough sport to win money on.
SJ still have not issued prices, and BLsq and Boyles have knocked the 1st 4 on the head and go 1/5th the 1st 3 for this week.

I am very keen on Denny Hamlin (7/1 currently) for this week. Obviously it is very difficult to not put up Kyle Busch, as he should again be very tough to beat. But I look back at the Richmond race a few weeks back (closest comparison to New Hampshire), and remember the total domination that Hamlin put on the field that night. He led 381 of the 400 laps until a tyre going down cost him the race.
I will be back later with my rundown of the race and my selections

Re: Nascar Thread.

Interestingly all the Gibbs Toyota's are using new Chassis's for this weekend, and it is showing.

Hopefully they can sort out the problems for later.

Re: Nascar Thread.

My short list for this week includes Hamlin, Ky Busch, Johnson, Harvick, Truex, Bowyer, Earnhardt and Kenseth. I fully expect the winner to come from one of these.
Qualifying was delayed for 2 hours due to rain and those drivers who went out after seem to have had the best of the track. Hamlin remains my no 1 guy for this week. Trying to choose between the others is proving difficult, so for this week, I will put up 4 drivers

2.5 * - Denny Hamlin
1.5 * - Jimmie Johnson
1* - Kevin Harvick
1* - Clint Bowyer

Would take the 9/1 JJ and 15/1 Harvick with Boyles (Pronto)
Should be able to get Bowyer at 16/1 or better and Hamlin at 7/1 or better

Re: Nascar Thread.

Sorry guys, I may have led you astray with Hamlin for this week, as his car just does not seem to be firing. Obviously being in one on the best teams they can sort the car out, but he cannot be bet based on what I have seen so far. Harvick appears to have the best car, and along with JJ and Dale Earnhardt should go very close.
Would put a decent word in for Kurt Busch and Reed Sorenson, who can be had at big odds. (Sorenson is on a bad team, but this car looks really good this weekend)

100/1 Sorenson with WHill

Drives for one of the lower teams, but they have put together a package that has a real shot of winning this weekend. Cannot believe this kind of price is still available for this driver. Go make them pay

So this week rain comes along and kills our chances with both Jimmie and Denny running 2nd and 3rd with 20 laps to go, but after pitting under caution and giving up the lead to some drivers who gambled on staying out, the rain starts to fall and the race is called. I am hoping some of you took my advice and played Kurt Busch (50/1 available) to help you out. But another frustrating week

Re: Nascar Thread.

DAYTONA - Coke Zero 400

Another tough race this week, as we have to contend with the bump draft, and who is going to help who. This will be one of the wildest races of the season, with Cars hitting over 200mph, and travelling bumper to bumper.
This is not all to do with how fast your car is, but who you know (and who likes you). The bump draft is like a runaway train, and if you join the right one, you can sligshot your way from the rear to the front (and vice versa if your leading, but with no help behind you, you will quickly drop to the rear, once this train starts rolling).
We have already seen from the Daytona 500 and the Talladega race that the Gibbs trifecta of Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin have the fastest cars for this type of race. The problem lies in the fact they do not race as a team (as witnessed in the 500).
As this is going to be a hard race to call, I will make suggestions only for this week, which hopefully will help in giving us the winner.
Will be back later in week with my thoughts

Re: Nascar Thread.

Tony Stewart cannot continue to have the bad beats that has come his way over the past few weeks, and I fully expect Smoke to contend for the win here. 6/1 is reasonable, and I would have him on top of my list of Drivers for this week. Very solid e/w selection.
Dale Earnhardt is a standing dish here. Still not fully convinced of him, as a win first kinda guy, but Junior is beloved by Nascar and the fans, and can do no wrong in their eyes. He should be there or there abouts.
Casey Mears is the forgotten man. Out of a job with Hendricks at the end of the year, this is the kind of situation which lends itself to a fairy tale ending. I fancied his chances in the big one here at the start of the season, and have not forgotten how well he runs here. 55/1 is a tasty price, for someone who I believe will go all out this week.
Just as a side note I think Casey will be part of Tony Stewart's new team next year, along with one other of the young guys currently racing with another team.
Will be back tomorrow with any late info, and if there is any value out there with any other drivers

Great stuff again

Notice you haven't mentioned Jimmie Johnson who has been knocking on the door the past few weeks. Is he not in contention this week?

Re: Nascar Thread.

Yes the Hendricks team are normally tough here, so JJ, Dale E, Jeff Gordon and Casey Mears will all go well. I do have this sneaky feeling for Casey this week. On evidence at both Daytona and Talladega this year, the Gibbs Toyota's just have too much horsepower for the other teams, so full expect Stewart, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin to dominate tonight (Busch and Hamlin dominated the Nationwide event last night here).
But this is a strange track in that bump drafting can make all the difference, so a poor car could be pushed to victory.

Value hunters should go to Boyles and back Ragan 33/1, Martin 33/1 and Mears 50/1. All far too big and should go well tonight
