Re: Nascar Thread.

You are right. Martin is a wily old veteren. He actually will be joining the Hendricks team next year (taking over Casey Mears Car), so will be Team mates with JJ, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt.
He is a decent driver, but he is more of a points driver rather then flat out win the race at all cost kind of driver (ala Kyle Busch).

My Final Decision for this week

3* - Jimmie Johnson (Very strong on him)
2* - Jeff Gordon
1* - Kasey Kahne

(and along with you I shall curse Kyle if he does me again)

Re: Nascar Thread.

“I'm planning on winning the Brickyard in the 8 car,” Martin said. “We've got the stuff. We've got the team. The cars are awesome on flat tracks … I have never planned on anything any more than my plan is for the Brickyard. That's the crown jewel. “And if you look at how that car ran at Phoenix, I believe that we can adapt that setup to work there. The team is strong enough on pit road, and (crew chief) Tony Gibson and those guys that work on that car are due a win.

Did come across this interesting snippit from Mark Martin. Looks like he means business. May be worth a few shekels to save your stake

Re: Nascar Thread.

An e/w saver on Martin then..

So..

6 pt Johnson to win @ 7/1
1 pt e/w on Gordon @ 14/1
1 pt e/w on Martin @ 20/1

Here's hoping

Re: Nascar Thread.

Well Jimmie finally did the business for us. I was beginning to doubt my judgement over the past few weeks, with bad luck dogging me. Just glad to get back on track. Little upset that Jeff could not sneak into the Top 4 after looking booked for 2nd place most of the night.
Never mind a winner is a winner

Re: Nascar Thread.

Great stuff Kosar...

Didnt actually watch the race but kept tuning in to the betting patterns...It looked a bit tight with him and Hamlin at the end, having looked a banker for much of the race..

Still a 7/1 winner will do me for a bit of extra spending money for my hols..

Re: Nascar Thread.

Pennsylvania 500 - Pocono

Back to Pocono for the 2nd time and with last weeks Indy event fresh in the minds, look towards JJ,Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin being major players.
In fact 8 or the top 12 at the 1st Pocono race were in the top 12 at Indy.
My 1st wager is for the winner at Pocono however.

1.5pts win Kasey Kahne 8/1 SJames

will also include
1.5pts win Denny Hamlin 15/2 SJames

Back over the weekend with my final thoughts

Re: Nascar Thread.

Not a major play on this, but the prices are wrong.

Boyles - Elliot Sadler 400/1 (does not allow you EW unfortunately)
BlSq - 150/1 same driver but does allow e/w.

Not a lover of Sadler, but he is a very capable driver especially if he has a decent car. Last week he finished 4th at Indy, so with the same car should be among the top 10 and could sneak a place (or a win if everything goes in his favour)

Re: Nascar Thread.

3* Jimmie Johnson.

Again has blasted the Practice and Qualifying. Dont think you will get the 13/2 now, but make him a solid 3* selection if 9/2 or better

Re: Nascar Thread.

With the best price for JJ only 4/1 I will change my selections to as follows

3* - Denny Hamlin (7/1 still available)
1.5* - Kasey Kahne (8/1 previously given)
1.5* - Jimme Johnson 4/1

Last nights all important final Practice sessions were washed out. Therefore we only have Fridays Practice and Qualifying to go on. The difference in both are that on Friday the cars are stripped down for flat out speed and on Saturday are in race trim (so you get a better idea of how the cars will perform). That being said we have both last weeks Indy race and the 1st Pocono race 6 weeks back to see that the best Cars should belong to the 3 drivers above, plus Carl Edward,Mark Martin, Brian Vickers and Geoff Gordon. Will be shocked if anyone bar these wins tonight (Cue Kyle Busch to spoil my night)

Re: Nascar Thread.

Just a quick breakfast post from my hotel (courtesy of free broadband..)

In a large article in USA today on Friday about Denny Hamlin, it sounds like this track is made for him, and his record is second to none. Something like 2 wins and 2 runners up in the last 6 or 7 races (something like that )..Anyhow certainly worth a dabble I'd say.. Problem I have at mo is I can't make a deposit from this hotel due to gambling restrictions in this State ..

Probably watch this on ESPN at 10 am (whilst preparing to go to the pool

Re: Nascar Thread.

Watkins Glen - Centurian Boats at the Glen

I have been off this week, so am a little late posting. This week is the 2nd of the 2 Road races of the season. Last nights qualifying and Practice were cancelled due to rain, and rain is forecast for the race tomorrow, which could have an effect on the result like last week.
The 2 favs are Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart who have farmed this race over the past 10 years. However although both will prove tough to beat, I am going to row in with these 2 bets for the time being.
Kyle Busch 8/1
Denny Hamlin 14/1

Both with Boyles. 2* bets on both
Will give my final selections later tonight

Re: Nascar Thread.

Confirmation of my 3 bets
2* on each
Kyle Busch 8/1
Denny Hamlin 14/1
Jimmie Johnson 15/1

All still available with Boyles.

Two other drivers I expect to go well are Kevin Harvick (17/1 Boyles) and Marcos Ambrose 33/1. If it had not been set on points I was very keen on Ambrose this week, as I believe he had a great chance. Starting at the rear will be tough, but I expect some sort of Pit Strategy to get him up through the field.
