Re: Speedway tips

Peterborough won 55-34 according to this link here http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/briti...s/s41d31082006, so the bet would've lost

Re: Speedway tips

Yes this one lost but those few words don't even begin to tell the story.

You know when your football bet doesn't win because of a 94th minute goal?Or a penalty against you that never should have been given?Or one that should have been given for you when the defender punched the ball off the line and everyone in the ground saw it except for the ref and his assistants?
Or the horse racing bet that's winning and the jockey somehow falls off the horse just before the line?Or the cricket bet that can't possibly lose......but does.....because the captain of one of the teams decides he won't stand for being called a cheat and refuses to bring his team back on the field to play?

Well think of all of these things rolled into one and you might have half an idea of how bad it was to lose this bet.

For those who don't know how speedway scoring works (and,as I say,I'm no expert) there are four riders in each race. Two in each team. The team gets 3points for a first place,2 points for a second and 1point for a third.

So with 5 races left to run our bet is a winner.Only one thing can stop us and that is if the opposition get first and second in all the remaining races. Not very likely was it

Obviously it happened.

My mate tells me they actually came first and second in 7 of the last 8 races which is virtually unheard of at that level.

On the positive side we are still well up ovrall and I'll update specifics when I get the time but I'm a bit busy -as ever- and it may have to wait until Monday or Tuesday.

Re: Speedway tips

You reckon there's any chance of Peterborough actually winning outright, Martin? Just been looking at the prices, and with Sporting Odds you can get Reading to win by 1-4pts @ 6.00, and Reading to win by 5-8pts at 4.00. You could combine those two to get odds of 3.4 on Reading to win it by anywhere between 1 and 8pts. The only thing that wouldn't cover which a bet on Peterborough +7 would cover is if Peterborough win or draw (although I'd guess going by the odds that draws are rare).

What do you reckon, is it worth chancing those two bets at 6.00 and 4.00, or better to stick with the normal handicap odds?

Re: Speedway tips

Yes there's a distinct possibility that Peterborough could actually win or draw RC.Although the bookies don't seem to think so and they tend not to get things wrong on a regular basis so thats a little worrying.

Re: Speedway tips

OK, cheers Martin. Just realised I calculated wrong above too, it's combined odds of 2.4, not 3.4.

I'll have a go on the Peterborough +7 handicap then, good luck

Re: Speedway tips

Thanks.I just did a quick tot up for the season and I make it 221.7 points profit over the four months. Not bad for average stakes of 30 points or so

So I'm going to bank the 200 points for next season and put the oddments on Peterborough tonight at evens.Don't forget it's on Sky Sports if you've got your money down.

Re: Speedway tips

I'm not happy with that.Race three and one of the Reading riders should have been excluded from the re-run in my view with Peterbro looking good to pick up the lead. Not a good sign when the ref gives a decision like that against you early on
