Re: F1 07/08

Just watching the start of the qualifing and its raining!!

Its gambooooooool time, this is going to be intresting a few outsiders could get some into some intresting positions today. I'll be surprised looking at conditions if the top 4 after qualifing are 2 Ferraris and 2 McLarens.

Re: F1 07/08

Nice spot on that bet K33nan, dont think you will be getting evens on that now.

What a qualifing session. Expected to an extent as qualifing has much more of an impact on the race than most races but pretty entertaining. It all came down to that last lap between Alonso and Hamilton and Alonso showed that he only needs a tiny opportunity and he will put you in trouble, hes always there. The last lap Hamilton put in was unbeliveable although both of them were held up in traffic the way he finished that lap was stunning. Alonso on pole but Hamilton was defintley faster than his teammate and he knows it. Massa did well in qualifing again sticking the Ferrari on 3rd, he will be chuffed that Kimi made an arse of it and O would love to know what sort of fuel Massa has in that car. Kimi will be pushing so hard tommorow.

Its fascinating just now that battle between the teammates of Ferrari and McLaren to be top dog in each team is almost more important than the championship as its possible that whoever gets the full backing of the team, first pick on fuel etc in each team will likely go on to challenge each other head to head for the championship. I cant really see either team going on to dominate the other in the rest of the season. Theres a stat somewhere that says the person who comes out of the race at Monaco goes on to win the championship...the last 3 races have been won from pole although its far from a typical F1 season this year.

I was dissapointed with BMW I was hoping they were going to go really light on fuel at the end and try and get in the mix at the front, they must be reasonable heavy on fuel otherwise its a disapointing result. Most of the overtaking done here is via mistakes or pits so I think they must have fuel cos in Q2 they looked fast.

Fisi the Monaco specialist got himself a nice position up in 4th with Rosberg who looked fast right behind him. Coulthard could have been right up in the mix as well, thought the penalty was a bit harsh, he could have been anywhere from 4th-8th and now starts 16th.

Still waiting for match bets...

Re: F1 07/08

Gutted...Paddypower put up Rosberg to beat Webber at 2.1. I tried to get on immediately but I had to phone up to change the card on my account and missed it, hes now 1.9 which looks worthy of investigation but not as nice as 2.1 would have been .

Bearing in mind that if it pisses down tommorow during the race any kind of calculations may go straight into a tyre wall...

Anyway.

Rosberg to beat Webber 1.9 @ paddypower
Starting together on the 3rd row Rosberg has been excellent so far this season finishing 6th from 11th last round and looks again like he has pace. I like Webber, I think hes an underrated driver but even without the reliability issues that he has suffered so far this season I dont think hes ever looked to have the same pace as Rosberg. This would have been a must bet at 2.1, I think it might still be a bet at this price. Bluesquare have webber evs and Rosberg 8/11

Coulthard to beat Kovalainen at 1.83 at paddypower
Kovalainen starts in front of Coulthard with Kimi between them. Theres nothing between these two position wise hence the 5/6 the pair price. Kovalainen is someone I have been looking to take on as he seems to make errors each race, only small ones but small errors round here can be costly. Both these drivers are faster than there position indicates with their teammates starting in 4th and 6th, the reason they are down here is due to Kovalainen being blocked in qualifying by Coulthard and missing out on Q3 and Coulthard being penalised. Even if Coulthard's car is slower he loves it round here getting 3rd last year, has won twice and has so much experience that I think he has the upper hand and should be favourite here.

Ladbrokes and Expect dont have prices up but I dont think I'll get a better price that 10/11 on the Rosberg bet so I have had 3pts on at PaddyPower.

Re: F1 07/08

Just been doing a bit of looking around the net. During the qualifing on the TV they said that Coulthard would be starting in 16th as a penalty for blocking Kovalinnen. It seems that wasnt quite right and now aparently he is starting from 13th but the officaial site F1.com is showing him as starting 11th.

I was considering taking a bet on him to beat Kovalinnen from 16th but didnt take it. PaddyPower are still offering 1.83 on him to beat Kovalinnen which I thought was reasonable from 16th, starting from 13th it looks better, if he starts from 11th then its an awesome price. Skybet have the bet as well but they have noticed and are offering 1.57.

I am not sure whether hes going to start 11th or 13th but it certainly looks like it will be one of them rather that 16th.

3pts Coulthard to beat Kovalinnen at 5/6 PaddyPower....it prolly wont last!

Re: F1 07/08

For anyone who took the Coulthard bet it looks like Coulthard will start 13th. Not 100% sure but from what I can find out he got put to 11th when they barred him from Q3 then penalised him a further 2 places hence 13th. Although he is only one row in front of Kovalinnen and as hard as it is to pass at Monaco Coulthard has potential to gain places with Liuzzi, Wurz and the two Honda cars in front whereas Kovalinnen is looking at fighting Kimi at the start then Trulli (who is good round here) plus he has Davidson and Speed coming at him from behind - he will be under pressure at the start not to lose places. Still available on PP shame hes not starting 11th

Re: F1 07/08

After the success that was Monaco, i m looking forward to the Canada GP

2 Bets i like the look of....

Hamilton 5/4 to beat Alonso - Has shown that he is more than a match for Alonso and happy to take odds against

Kubica w/o top 4, 3/1 - best of the rest when he has had the chance to show himself.

Thoughts welcome. Come on - lets rattle these bookies!!

Re: F1 07/08

Usually a good race Canada, fast and bumpy, the chicane as the last corner looks terrifying. No doubt there will be a few retirements today and I would be surprised if they were all for reliability issues.

Nice spot on that bet Mullet worked out nicely although I think Hamilton was a little lucky to hold on to P1 but fair play he stuck a cracking lap in at the end he has every chance to win this race.

Traditionally Alonso doesnt go well on this circuit but he looked strong in qualifing. I think even McLaren were surprised by Ferrari as it was sort of accepted that they would be the main force here and in Indy for the next race.

I wish someone with a bit of imagination would price these match bets up...Hiedfeld v Massa could be intresting Hiedfeld v Webber too. I was hoping to get a Fisi v Trulli or Rosberg as well as Fisi is a bit of a specialist round here and he seems like he is really getting to gribs with that Renault now but no. Everyone has Fisi v Kubica which is tight Kubica has the speed, his teammate outqualifing the Ferraris and maybe has more fuel than most but he has issues with his car.

Trulli to beat Coulthard 1.66 @ ladbrokes.
As I have said before Trulli is reliable and consistent whereas Coulthard is not mainly due to the reliability of his car. This weekend he has had nothing but problems and was off the track during qualifing numerous times. Trulli in 10th and Coulthard in 14th is about all the convincing I need.

Wurtz to beat R Schumacher 1.83 @ ladbrokes.
There isnt a driver under more pressure than Schumacher he has been awful this season, is getting bashed in the press, rumors that hes out the door soon coupled with the fact that he has that name to live up to. He doesnt do himself any favours either this guy at the start of season he was quoted as saying he is in the top 5 drivers in F1 or something like that plus its never his fault he always has some sort of excuse. I dont rate him hes full of shit. Wurz however is not and has shown so far he has speed this year. He had no excuses yesterday and stated that basically he was slow but with his teammate qualifing in 7th he obviously has the car underneath to improve from 20th and two behind Schumacher, lets be honest I would be confident in a Lada Riva two places behind Schumacher.

Webber to beat Coulthard 1.4 @ Expekt
Expect and their mad bets....Webber has looked good so far this season but let down again and again by his car. Red Bull dont seem to be able to get both cars running well at the same time. Coulthard as mentioned above has had nothing but problems and it looks like its Webbers weekend for reliablility, he looked like a man on a mission in qualifing and was really throwing it about. Webber starts 6th Coulthard 14th.

Trulli to beat schumacher 1.3 @ expekt
Another Expekt offering, see above for thoughts on both these guys. Reliable car + reliable driver + starting in 10th against unreliable car starting in 14th = win is the formula I used to get this one. The double for these last two pays 1.82 :wasntme

Considering a double on the last two there but 1.82 isnt exactly a massive price considering the possibilities of accidents round here so instead I am going to have a go at the first two at ladbrokes. The double pays 3.05 which looks reasonable.

Two point double Trulli to beat Coulthard and Wurtz to beat R Schumacher at ladbrokes pays 3.05.
