Re: Both players flopping a set

Just saw a cracker.

Folded round to the blinds - SB raises, BB reraises, SB calls.

Flop is A 9 K

SB Bets large, BB reraises all in, SB calls.

SB flips over KK, BB flips over AA.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :

And no sooner had the 'wow' left my lips than a King came on the river.

Unreal

Re: Both players flopping a set

I was playing a single-table tournament last night. It was down to the last 3 places with me marginally behind the chip leader and the small stack with about 2500 chips (20,000 on the table in total). I was in the SB and was dealt KK, with the blinds at 400/800. The short-stack went all-in and I flat called, hoping to trap the Big-blind - I figured he would be getting nearly 4-1 on his call. He decided to go all-in and I called so fast you wouldn't believe it

Short stack turns over 55, BB turns over 99 and I'm sitting pretty with my cowboys. A 5 came on the turn and the 5th card put 4 hearts on board and the 99 won with a 9 high flush

Re: Both players flopping a set

Just witnessed this, first time I have seen it happen.
I have 99
flop is 7 9 10

just 2 of us in the hand he bets a few bucks and I put him all in (hes got less than half a buy in left and I just sat down) he calls and shows his 10 10.
No 9 on the turn and river, hopefully thats me for a while then

Re: Both players flopping a set

That highlights the importance of always making sure you have a full buy-in in front of you - I'm sure you would happily have put all your chips in there and busted but luckily for you he only had a little cash. Yeah you got off lightly there so be thankful to lose so little

Re: Both players flopping a set

its amazing how certain hands can effect your thinking. Just played a hand there, had 99 again and the board comes J 9 5, first guy to acts bets and I raise him as theres lots of folks to come behind me. Folds back to him and he calls, turn is a blank, he bets 1/3 of what he has left and I stick em all in. As he's calling I am thinking "dont have Jacks, dont have Jacks"

he didnt, he had Queens and didnt find another one

Now after the inital check from him I am slightly pensive. I would have thought that AA or AK would have led that flop to me. The checking hands would have been QQ JJ perhaps. The check raise is consistent with him having KK, especially considering the size of his pre-flop raise.
Now I could have binned my hand after the check raise I realise this. Had he had $100 rather than $42 I certainly would have considered it. Still I have called to hit the set and there is always the possibility he will check raise with AA or AK too. Plus it's a sautrday night so anything is possible hence I decided to go with it. Hopefully I won't be posting again in this thread anytime soon.

Re: Both players flopping a set

This just happened to me AGAIN ! Along with flopping nut straight being beaten by a guy calling down my pot sized bets with the only the middle pair from the board and making a backdoor flush. That's happened thrice today, plus numerous other things I shan't even bother to describe. I need to have a kit kat I think.
