ODM's own personal credit crunch

I must admit, I pride myself on keeping decent records of my profits and losses throughout the season but I'm not very good at revisiting past weeks/months/years to analyse what has made me profit and what has lost me dosh.

I know I have some very bad betting habits (Saturday TV races and Monday night live games being two of them) which should come with a government wealth warning. I somehow always manage to end up making a profit though (sorry if that sounds like bragging but bear with me) and I'm not sure how much of this can be put down to my bread and butter, daily bets/systems and how much is attributable to my bigger bets which I have a lot less of but which obviously swing the eventual profit and loss greatly.

I could be mega great at my bread and butter bets and be chucking cash away on my larger stake bets OR I could be absolutely fucking useless with only the odd flukey big bet keeping me afloat and papering over the cracks.

So, starting tonight, I will TRY to keep a record of my larger bets which I will still include in my personal profit and loss figures but which I will be able to review separately in this thread.

Don't try to read too much into the points staked. I have an idea of what sized bet my 10/10 confidence lay risk will be and what my 10/10 confidence back bet will try to achieve and the stakes I make here will vary from bet to bet.

Anyway, my first bet kicks off soon so no time to delay.

Re: ODM's own personal credit crunch

My starting bank will be 10,000 points for no other reason than it makes it easier for me to calculate. I will also bet in running and may even chuck in some aftereventing (win or lose) as this is for MY benefit only and not intended for applause or abuse.

Bet 1. Backed Rangers "To qualify" v FBK Kaunas tonight at 2/7 with Ladbrokes 700 points staked to win 200.

I also intend to stake another 300 in play at some stage, depending upon how the game goes.

Re: ODM's own personal credit crunch

Review of bet 1.

I managed to pull off a brilliant masterstroke by laying off some of my stake when Rangers were 1-0 up JUST before FBK went and equalised. Yes I really am that good

Unfortunately, when they did eaualise, I decided that it would be a good idea to put the layed money back onto Rangers to make a bigger profit.

Didn't quite work out and I lost the 700 points.

I had planned to lay "no more goals" very late on to guarantee some return but the winner went in before I got the price that I wanted.

I have to say though that this is no hard luck story. Basically, I had a winning bet at 1-1 as long as FBK didn't score more goals in the second half than Rangers. I made a conscious decision that I was standing on a good bet and I have no moans about the loss.

Added to that, FBK were BY FAR the better team and had also hit the bar early in the second half.

All in all, a fair result and I start the thread 700 points down.

Yes, like this...

"Hey Fate, you fat ugly bastard, here are my testicles. Get your big fat ugly head over here and bite them off if you can"

Nah - no problem mate. It's a done deal.

That will, one day, so come back to haunt you ONEDUNME.

Best of luck with this though.
