1+ Goals again...

Right, come into some money after a large win on exchange blackjack, so i have £102.17 spare to try this feckin 1+ goals thing again.

Also trying to look for jobs, so trying not to bet as much, so this seems the perfect bet to keep me going.

Will try and be disciplined, but high odds always catch the eye so i may just take them without any research

Will probably be down on the 1st hurdle, but it was the highest odds i could find for tonight, so there. (they drew 0-0 in the first leg).

Spain U21 v Italy U21 - £102.17 @ 1.13

Hey edinlichtie is there any goal in this attempt for glory?
I suggest you to bank some cash after 20-25 bets.

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Although playing this bet can make you the brunt of a number of gambling jokes, it can pay off if you are patient and selective and are in it for the long haul. Far too many people, myself included try to fire as many bets in as humanly possible but inevitably you slip up this way..Conan has the right idea with this...

You definately need a banking strategy as well and there's no shame in banking half the betting once once you have doubled up - even if takes a dozen bets to get there. It does need a strong element of luck though... When I had my 38 (I think) bet run, I had a couple of last minutes 1st goals that bailed me out so there are some unpleasant goalless moments in some matches.

I also agree with yourself and Kiko in that the other great thing about this bet is that it does channel a lot of your gambling thoughts into this one 'project' and I have found that you don't seem to bet so much on other things - a great financial saving (with my bets!)

Anyhow good luck, and I'm sure I'll also be revisiting this bet at some point, althought not for a while - my R2R betting has gone tits up recently so I'm having another few months sabbatical from this pesky forum!!

Re: 1+ Goals again...

You guys are speaking my kind of language which ive never seen before on any forum .To my knowledge i started this challenge off years ago on the betfair forum ,any older viewers may remember it ,my thread was titled "THE GOOD SHIP GOAL", i spent 1 night trying to get a plan together to get a decent win for a small amount ,and i gathered that the 1 thing that both teams are trying to do is score a GOAL !! Therfore id be unlucky to hit a 0-0 , HOW WRONG I WAS !!

Ive tried this on several occasions ,well probably a few hundred occasions to be honest and always fail at some stage , its uncanny how looking at full programme you manage to land on the sole 0-0 draw ! But its very addictive !

The closest i got was from £25 to around £850 (my target was £1000) , and i played a french game , Bordeaux-Auxerre , it was 0-0 ,no chances all the game and in the 88th minute Jean Claude Darchiville missed an open goal from around 2 yds out and that was that .

Heres my thoughts for what they are worth .

I also tend to do JUST this bet when im focused on it , no other bets on anything else , just this , as it occupies me no end as i try in vain to find the next goal glut ! People wouldnt beileve how hard it is to avoid the dreaded goaless draw , but i STILL believe its possible to turn £50 into £1000 by avoiding 0-0s else i wouldnt be posting.

I have found it to be the most stressful type of bet ive ever placed in my life , as you are taking short odds and then clock watching for 90 mins ,getting more and more tense the longer it remains 0-0 ! Once it gets to 60 mins you tell yourself why did i do this game , then check all the other nights scores noticing they all have goals except yours ! The relief when the goal comes ,the later the goal the more relief , its like shooting your load up some hot dolly bird ! Very nice indeed ! But for me its not the cash i win , its the fact that the run continues and i dont have to go back to square 1 and start again !!! Ive tried allsorts of systems , but i still beileve that 0-0s are so random that you may as well lay low odds as the longer odds have just as much chance of ending 0-0 , but then again i keep falling on the low odds lays ,so maybe thats where im going wrong ? My newest theory is that im looking at a game where BOTH teams feel they can score , as ive noticed lots of 0-0s come when 1 team are very short odds , and the underdog goes for a 0-0 , 11 men behind the ball and fight to the death , those games often end 0-0 ,and are ludicrously low odds to back ! Barcelona,Werder Bremen,Bayern Munich ,and Man Utd are usual suspects in this category ,especially in home games where teams go to get a point and not concede.

I also would like to remind you all that you can often get better value if you look at all the available markets, correct score(lay 0-0) ,total goals (1+),and next goal (lay no next goal), as they are all the same bet but often differ wildly as to what you get paid out . Also if theres a game shortly after the one you are involved in that you want to follow up on ,you will be advised to bet the no next goal route as its settled as soon as a goal goes in .

The worrying thing for me is that i know i panic after say 60 mins , panic so much that i often back my bet back to take a big loss ,only for a goal to go in !! And i hate taking say 1.11 on 1+ only to see it go to 1.25 after 20 mins , so my way around this is maybe bet in games that arent in play ? Then theres no way out if it looks bad!!!

I also have tried to rattle off as many games as possible as soon as i can in the past ,but im learning to curb my enthusiasm and take it easy , there are enough 0-0s out there to worry me ,ive realised that now,so cutting down the number of bets per day and stretching out the total length of the 0-0 challenge will hopefully help me avoid the death knell once again !!

Right im now slavering at the thought of getting stuck in and whilst typing this ive decided to give it another go !

I`ll post my bets soon ,and regularly until i fall once again no doubt ,but hey ,lets have fun trying ! Theres nothing quite like it !

regards for now

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Right im starting off £50.00, and with what would appear to be a dodgy game , but to me its not as dodgy as it seems .

Croatia - England laid `no next goal @ 7.4 to win £7.45 after commission

The reasons are pretty simple really , England hit the woodwork twice against Macedonia plus squandered numerous other chances , and with Gerrard forced out ,the team will have a better shape to it with just Lampard in there . Crouch will threaten the Croat backline ,who are very dubious when put under high balls which England are sure to get plenty of ammo through the air to big Crouchy .

Also much is being made of Croatia`s unbeaten home record at this ground , 20 odd games i believe , all listed below , and all have 1 common factor apart from Croatia avoiding defeat ,can you spot it? They also only keep clean sheets against the poorer outfits ,and England are sure to get chances tonight .

Croatia’s faultless home record in qualifiers

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Ps the reason i laid `no next goal` was because i may possibly be doing the Poland - Portugal game as bet 2 , not 100% on that though yet though

cheers

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Gotta remember the Total Goals market has a lower commission rate than laying 0-0, first goalscorer etc, but always worth looking to make sure the odds aren't out.

Yes, this is a suicidal and addictive bet, still yet to double my money after 2 previous tries, but can't keep away! How scary/exciting is it when u get an 89th minute winner though?

PS - nah, feel free!

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Has anyone ever considered a variant on this which is more than 1.5 Goals (i.e 2 or more) on Betfair. Odds range from a low of 1.33 to a high of around 1.65 with most games in the 1.4 to 1.45 price range. I’ve played this a bit as an interest bet in live games. No more than backing a goal or more you have to be selective. You need teams with porous defences that can also bag a few. Avoid derbies and games where the main strikers either side are out. Anything involving Crewe is usually nailed on as well

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Bit rushed last night , so heres the odds etc on bet 2 ...

Poland - Portugal backed 1+ goal @ 1.12 £58.00 to win £6.40 after commission
Smolarek 9th min goal , Bank now £64.40

____________________________________

Edin , If you stick to odds of around 1.10 to 1.13 then it takes you around 8-9 bets to double your money which spread over a week or so isnt much , i like to look at 1 a day and maybe 2 ,sometimes 3 at weekends .

CJMars, If you do games like Crewe then you taking 1.03 for 1 goal , it`ll take years to get anywhere and your just as likely to land on a 0-0 .

I like to look for 2 teams who are capable of scoring ,and an even match odds wise , say anything between favourite 4/5 outsider 11/4 , that says to me the favourite isnt a good thing and the outsider has a chane to at least score . Also a good few games end 0-0 when the away is odds on ,happens regularly .

I looked last night at maybe laying 0-0 in games where 1 team made a 0-0 last time out , as id of thought the odds would be lower than they should be , and the chances of a team getting 2 0-0s in a row was quite slim at the very least. Everything was going ok ,there was any in England for several months , then i checked the euro leagues and last week alone there was 5 teams in the major leagues who made 2 0-0s on the bounce , including AC Milan ,who were 28 at home to sienna for 0-0 and 20 away to livorno for 0-0 . So may knock that on the head .

I also looked at laying after say 20 mins when the odds have gone out quite a bit , which they do suddenly go out especially in a tight looking game , but its a bit nerve wracking as you do get games with early goals (Poland last night for example 9th min) . It cuts down on the number of selections needed to reach your goal ,but also ups the intensity a tad .

PS this week Chesterfield host Swansea ,and BOTH teams last games were 0-0 draws , so the law of averages sees a goal in that game ,SURELY !! LOL

Regards

Re: 1+ Goals again...

Lech Poznan - LKS Lodz 7:00 friday Polish League one
Laid 0-0 @ 12.5 £64.40 to win £5.33 after commission

Lech are a goal machine at home ,scoring and conceding for fun, played 4 games scored 10 conceded 10 ,they arent bad away either scoring 8 in 4 games, while Lodz away arent shy at coming forward either , played 3 away scored 6 conceded 5 .

This game looks like goals for sure , so im making it bet number 3 !
