Both were rubbish but Montpelier play the last 10min with 14 men allowing Bayonne to sneak a win they really don't deserve.

From the jaws of defeat.......................Albi were 7 pts down with less than 10 to go & somehow managed to turn it around .

Normally I'd never advocate celebrating success Snodser as it breeds complacency but you need a pick me up.

Snods with regard to tonights game how far off the Bourgoin first team is tonights line up. I was thinking of having a punt but 15pts is big and stade haven't inspired me with confidence this season.

According to CSBJ coach, Eric Cantinot he is "rotating" in view of a "very important " home game against Dax next week.

Bourgoin have nothing to play for, H-Cup is a distant dream & no danger of going down. Just want to keep the home fans happy & get ready for next year.(Nallet staying with CO is a blow)

SF may be held together with baling twine & spit but they have become good at winning without actually playing that well. Its a mix of experience & youth and usually does enough to get the job down.

I've backed them -14 boylesports 5pts (the Doc has -13) & am hoping lightning does not strike twice after last nights horror show.

If SF get an early score or two CSBJ will just down tools.

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

20 minutes in & its 10-7

Bourgoin must have broken some kind of record with the n° of tackles in the first 10 min. & then they got a try!!!!!!

El Mago has done "a little bit of this & a little bit of that"
to get things back on even keel.

As it stands I'm pretty confident

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

HT 16-13

Bourgoin feeding off SF mistakes but can not see them winning.

Stade are the usual stop & go and in view of the scoreline this could go either way.

A special mention for Mathieu Basteraud, a young "espoir".........(can't be more than 20)
I don't know what his mammy is giving him for breakfest but its more than Weetabix.......Take the speed of Nyganga, the strenght of Thion and add the doggedness of Betsen.....no doubt will be playing in "blue" in the next few years.......

Anyway for the last punt of the day

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Basteraud is a bit of a beast - think he is 22/23. Saw him play in the U21 world cup that France won a few years ago and he was the best part of 17 stone then. Have seen him a few times since. Loads of talent but still a little raw.

I can't wait for him to play for France - it'll be a commentators field day.

"And France have a big strong Basteraud in midfield........"

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

I sat thru the whole game & it was really a "life is stranger than fiction" situation.
El mago could have made the h-cap for us at the end of the game, that said, Bourgoin could have won.

7 minutes from time and Catinot was calling "to hold" for the defensive bonus........SF win but they are more than ever aware that "baling twine & spit" can only go so far....

There was a time when I happily watched 2/3/4/5 games a weekend just for the sheer pleasure.........now I watch with the odds in mind.............I don't think I'm better off .

Fortunately I've enough brain cells left not to put my familys wellbeing in danger but for any "young jedi" out there remember "caution is the better part of valour"

I had Castres for this one, didn't get time to post a pick on it. See that Toulouse won 16-6, so probably just as well!
