Brive v Bourgoin:
Bourgoin have had a hard fortnight and will be happy to get a defensive bonus point today. Brive to win.

Brive 29 - 13 Bourgoin happy days

Bayonne v Toulouse:
At the start of the season I would have said Bayonne could cause an upset today but Toulouse lost last week and Toulouse don't "do" losing.
Close game but Toulouse to win.

Bayonne 10 - 25 Toulouse

I'm doing a double with Toulouse & Brive.

Albi v Montauban & Dax v Clermont:
Albi and Clermont should win I just don't like the look of these games. No Bet
Albi 15 -25 Montauban/Dax 22-40Clermont

Paris v Perpignan:
Paris should win but the Perpignan pack will push them all over the park. I fancy Perpignan+15
Paris 12-23 Perpignan

Montepelier v Auch:
Montepelier likely to take this one. However the last 4 games for both teams have finished with 10pts or less between the winners & losers. Auch will have a go so Auch +12
Montepelier 29-24 Auch
All bets with Boyle Sports, Good luck.

Well we'll know Sunday evening.
I have been distracted by Cheltenham and am also out injured (torn calf muscle- 3 weeks rest)

By the way, a big Thanks to all you horsey types who made me a profit.

Tonights game: ALBI V BIARRITZ 7.30PM GMT

Albi are comming off a bad run after 2 home defeats, they are missing Pages, great scrumhalf though more for his heart than his skills. The presidency of the club is up in the air with lawyers etc throwing paper aroundIn short not the best way to prepare a game.

Biarritz beat Paris 2 weeks ago at home, lost to Castres with a bonus point(defense) away and will not be happy with just 1 or 2 points from 2 weeks games.
Biarritz are missing a HUGE amount of players, through injury and 6 nations. Apart from Paris I don't think anyone has been so badly hit.

Logic, that great word points to a Biarritz win...................

BUT I'm going with Albi,
The coach will have been motivating them like never before and they are at home.
To paraphrase one famous Captain " where's your fcukin pride?" will be repeated in the dressing room.

I think they can win this but then maybe I should be locked up.

Albi to win: 5/4 Boylesports or paddy power.

Albi 13- 8 Biarritz

So happy days then.

However I'm not happy.
As a rule I don't like to slag off ref's.
They're doing a thankless job for little or no money and I believe if they do make "a mistake" its swings and roundabouts and at the end of the day everything evens out.
So full support to all the amateur / pro refs of any sport reading this.

However the chap at tonights game was a disgrace to you and your colleagues.
I won't bore you with the details but suffice to say that I'm fairly sure the internal structures of the league will relegate him back to wherever he came from.

Back to the game, Albi missed 4 penalties, Biarritz 1. It was anyone's game 'till the scrumhalf ( all 5'2" of him) snuck under his locks armpit to get a try 9 minutes from time. After that it was "fight em on the beaches etc"

I'll be back tomorrow, If you're not free--- Have a great weekend

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Auch v Castres:
No-one remembers the last time Auch won a game. Castres to win.

Bayonne v Brive:
Tight, probably should not put a bet on. Small bet on Bayonne.

Montauban v Bourgoin:
This will be closer than the odds would suggest but Montauban to win.

Toulouse v Dax.
Toulouse obviously, small bet on Dax +20 h/cap.

Perpignan v Montepelier:
Bit of a Derby this, lots of players missing on both sides. Perpignan to win, but not by much.

Sunday:
Clermont v Paris:
Clermont 1st team against whatever is left for Paris. They have barely enough players to field a team! Clermont to win -15 h/cap.

Have a good weekend.

Don' t know why but I can't "quote".

No matter, Perpignan 27-6 Montepelier, bit of a mad game.
Clermont 50-12 Paris Score says it all.

Water off a ducks back traeth now if you find a frenchman to send that to.

Things should become more "normal" now international duty is over, mind, there is H-Cup soon.

I was debating whether to post a "strike rate" for my picks.
Is that the done thing or is there somewhere else for that stuff.

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.The Fixtures:

Good thread and very impressive strike rate. The T14 is a league that gets little attention over here. As you've previously alluded to home advantage and the huge fixture list are two massive factors in this league.

Here's this weeks games:

The Fixtures:

Friday 21 March

Biarritz - Brive

Saturday 22 March

Castres - Montauban
Bourgoin - Auch
Dax - Bayonne
Perpignan - SCA Albi
Montpellier - Clermont Auvergne
Stade Français - Stade Toulousain

When I see the team sheets tomorrow I'll post a few picks.

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Just saw the teams for the biarritz/brive match. On paper biarritz look much stronger and the temptation is to back a brive slaughter.

However there are a few things holding me back: firstly biarritz dont tend to do anything other then the bare minimum at home to bottom half teams, Brive are actually playing well at the mo, they were unlucky at bayonne last week and won the two before that.

Also Biarritz are missing a few in the pack, this coupled with the poor weather forecast might give brive a chance up front.

All in all I'm going to take Brive +12.5pts
