Thought Irish were going to sneak it at the end but it was not to be. Toulouse finish with half the team screaming for crutches. Don't know who they're going to field next week, under 18s probably .

All in all the best team won but barring serious injuries Munster are on there way to another H-cup . (just the small matter of tomorrows game but lets not be negative )

Bet 15, return 20,

small profit is better than none

SARACENS v MUNSTER (Sunday, 15.00)

The weekend's second semi-final takes place on Sunday at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, where Saracens take on Munster for a place in the Heineken Cup final. Sarries tore up the form book in the quarter-finals when they beat the Ospreys, who had themselves torn Alan Gaffney's men to pieces in the EDF Energy Cup. Arguably the most impressive performance in the last eight came from Munster, who took the game to Gloucester on their own turf and ran out narrow winners to set up this clash. Gaffney has of course been in charge of Munster in the past and now he comes to face his old side once more and he feels that containing the ferocious Munster pack is the key to winning the game, as this will starve Ronan O'Gara and the Munster backs. These two sides haven't met since 1999/2000, when they were paired together in the pool stages. Munster came off best in that tussle, winning both games but what was interesting was that both games were free-scoring. I'm not sure we can expect much of the same here, but Munster need to play a similar sort of game that they played ata Kingsholm, where they were very controlling. If Gaffney manages to mastermind a brilliant tactical plan, then Sarries can get something from this and they may well be worth backing getting eight from their opponents. The key to this game is Gaffney, as he will be well versed in the Munster way of play and could well out think Declan Kidney. It's a tough one to call but I reckon the value here could be Sarries, who despite being out of form in the Premiership, will have had this game on their minds for a long time.

Verdict: Munster by three.

Re: Rugby; H-Cup & Challenge Cup semi finals

Good article, nice to get a mix of opinions. I'd have question about Sarries form regardless. Can you play terrible for two games and then switch it on because this one 'matters'. Thats fine till you get to today and you realise that your not match sharp and all off a sudden your bottling it. As we've seen consistantly in the Heineken cup is that experience is worth a 9pt start, Toulouse showed it yesterday and Munster have displayed it in spades this season. Realistically only Visagie, De Kock and maybe Haughton would make it into the munster team. This one has munster dominantion and sarries bottle job written all over it for me.

I like Gaffney and Sarries are honest toilers but unless the Munster team bus is hit by lightening then its munster -8 for me.

Disclaimer: My opinion should take into account that I'm a Munster fan, jeez I love the Heineken cup.

My bets are:

Munster outright 1/3 10pts

Munster -8 10/11 7pts

Total match points under 39.5 8/10 (betfair) 5pts

Re: Rugby; H-Cup & Challenge Cup semi finals

Did not see the game but it was closer than I expected. Munster only got 3 pts in the 2nd half!.

On to the final, as I posted previously I took Munster at 6/4.
That is no longer available but Boyle are giving 10/11 on Munster and Toulouse which I feel is quite generous in view of the state of the Toulouse squad. Paddy gives 4/6 & 11/10.

If you are interested get on now because these prices won't last.

Agreed I expected Toulouse to start favourites and 10/11 are decent odds.
What annoys me most about bookies is that they never give the punter an underdog advantage i.e. if the favourite is 5/6 then surely the underdog should be 6/5! No chance you'll be lucky to get evens. This is were the exchanges are great for value.
