Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

Er... you'd better check that bet Kiwi, as England actually 'won' the second half 15-13.

Traeth, alas your handicap predictions look spot on. I say 'alas' as it looks tough to take a confident position on any of them. NZ perhaps, but France have never lost in Lyon. And I too like Ireland as this is not a strong SA squad and SA never seem to travel well... ie 10pts worse off when not on African soil.

Oh well, we see what the bookies flag up.

+ 31pts. Seems it should have been more after yesterday but no good being greedy!

haha, you were right there Pie, i lost that one , i had another bet come in there that i forgot i placed , which made me think i had won it as my account showed the right increase for that win...lol...ah well...no loss and small gain on the outright win i had going...not a big profit, but profit none the less, so i can't complain.

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

Maybe there is a few bob to be made this weekend.

Skybet go a generous +13 for Argies. Much of the key to England overcoming the handicap could be how Charlie Hodgson goes. He needs to start bringing club form to the white shirt more often, and needs a better boot than last weekend. England have had a run, it is HQ, and they should win. But, I think the shirts differential is quite a bit too high, and the handicap 5 pts too high.

SELL England/Argie shirts at 19 @ 2.5pts
Win Argentina +13 at 10/11 @ 15 pts

South Africa have a so/so squad, 3 new caps in the scrum and just aren't the same power out of Africa. Ireland field a strong, settled team. Once they have absorbed the SA show of physical strength, I take Ireland to pull away and win, fairly comfortably.

Win Ireland -5.5 at 1.90 @ 25pts (centrebet)

Wales win -11 at 10/11 @ 22pts

France v New Zealand. Kiwis perhaps vunerable if they don't tighten up defence. Shippping 4 tries (in effect) against England on Sunday, not too flash. Should be close.

Fra/NZ draw at HT or FT at 11.00 @ 5 pts (centrebet)

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

Just had a little spy at the odds - I don't pay too much attention to rugby but I was surprised by the confidence being displayed in the home nations. Of course playing at home in what are just friendlies they have far more to prove/gain, but I can't say I'm convinced that Scotland will cover a big handicap(we're shocking favourites in any sport), not convinced Wales will have an easy time against the Pacific folks, and think SA could shock the Irish, even with loads of players out of position.

Small punts on Romania +27.5 @ 2.34, Pacific Islanders @ 5.2 and SA @ 3.10.

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

What you say about Scotland is true Beanie , but Romania are poor and if its raining overcoming the handicap may prove difficult.

Wales v Pacific Islanders
Wales have made wholesale changes from last week's team.
P.I. are a new squad , but do have high quality players from Fiji ,Tonga and Samoa .Last year Wales only beat Fiji by 1 point and we have struggled against Samoa [ I was at our defeat in 1991].
I hope Wales can show their strength in depth of their squad today , but I'm not so confident that we can overcome 11 points. We missed a lot of tackles last week , we cannot afford to do that this week. Sorry Beanie but cannot see us losing either.

Ireland v South Africa
I agree with you on this one pie.
The Irish did play well on their summer tour .Their regional sides performed well in the Heineken.
South Africa struggled in the tri nations ,especially away .This is one of the worse S.A sides in years.
I can see this being a big win for Ireland and will be having a bet on this one.
So Ireland -5 with mansions for me.

England v Argentina
I don't think that England have lost at home to Argentina and if they can elimate a few of the mistakes that they made last week they should win this one.
Argentina have the majority of their players now playing in France and England so they are a bigger danger than they have been in the past. Conteponi will be a key player than can exploit England's weakness in the backs. The Argentina front five are a powerful unit , but I'm a believer in theory of " the backrow supremacy will win you the game".It is here that England are superior to Argentina.
For England to overcome that handicap Hodgson has to be more accurate with his kicking this week. Not so sure on that factor at international level for me to have a bet.

France v New Zealand
France can beat any side on their day and they can lose to any side on their worse day. They are playing centre Damien Traille at outside half which could prove to be an error.
New Zealand have made 10 changes to last week's team but still have a very strong side with an excellent backrow.

The All Blacks -5 with Corals for me

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

England were dire. Terrible. Did not think they'd lose until about 10 mins into first half .

No worries, 3 out of 3 quids off bookies so far.

Great tipping mate lets hope the Irish do their stuff

Robinson looked like a man without a job next week in that interview on sky - he wanted to punch that interviewer ..showed great restraint ..perhaps that why his side have no heart

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

Ireland sound good at half-time. (Can only get this on radio via Internet).

22-3.

Dublin crowd huge in my headphones and should get Ireland home.

watching this on sky mate and the Irish are well on top but have the advantage of the wind , spoiling the lineouts...S.A. on top there. The boks have not much ball to run , could be dangerous but Ireland are playing great as a team , good passing ,always support and each player knowing each other's moves.Ths boks were not playing as a team first half , their fullback looked impressive though.

Are you having another bet on the All Blacks ?

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

... and no missed penalties

18 mins into 2nd half.

Traeth, I'm slightly French with the (small) handicap but no bet for me. Can't figure it.

Re: Autumn international rugby fixtures

S.A. HAVE SCORED A try and their lineout and scrum is much better second half .

I'm going for the All Blacks -6 , I realise they won last week against an England side that is getting worse by the game , I suppose they'll get better just before they meet Wales.
