Re: American Presidential Primaries

Even more Bettingzone Market News:

1140: Despite Hillary Clinton's victories in Ohio and Texas last night, Victor Chandler are still going all out to lay her for both the Democratic Nomination and for her to be the next President.

The firm are a best priced 12/5 that she manages to beat off Barack Obama in the Democratic race, and a stand out 9/2 that she makes it to the Oval Office.

The firm's political spokesman Dave Jenkins says that in some ways their hand has been forced, explaining: "We have a huge liability on Barack Obama becoming the next President, so the price reflects the fact that we want to balance the books.

"But that is good news for those who feel that Hillary Clinton can capitalise on the momentum of victories in Ohio and Texas and go on to make a real challenge for the White House."

Barack Obama is still a strong favourite to go head to head with John McCain, but with Clinton looking strong in Pennsylvania the race for the Democratic nomination is far from over.

"As we all know, she's a tough political animal, and she never gives up," added Jenkins. "Some were writing her obituary before last night, but once again she proved her doubters wrong. She is still a formidable candidate."

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Friday afternoon's Bettingzone Market News:

1600: With John McCain now confirmed as Republican candidate for the race to the White House, while the Democrats still cannot choose between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, political punters are backing him to become President.

William Hill have cut McCain's odds from 13/8 to 11/8 second favourite - only fractionally behind 5/4 market leader Obama.

"Punters believe that McCain has secured a significant advantage by becoming the official candidate so early on and as he also seems to be polling well, they are backing him seriously now," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

"Meanwhile, Obama and Clinton look like having to go all the way to the wire before one of them manages a race-winning lead."

Hills have again shortened the odds about Clinton winning the Democratic nomination and have cut her odds from 2/1 to 13/8, with Obama lengthened from 4/11 to 4/9.

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Depending on your point of view we could be finally getting to the Obama vs McCain showdown. As it is though, Clinton's hanging onto her fingertips until the cash runs out. She may or may not say something on Friday whether she wants to continue being in the race.

Yesterday's Bettingzone Market News:

1145: Barack Obama has now become odds-on favourite to win the US Presidential Election with William Hill after emerging from the latest Primaries with an advantage over Hillary Clinton.

Hills have cut his odds from 11/10 to 4/5, and make John McCain 11/8 second favourite, but have lengthened Clinton from 4/1 to 6/1 after she failed to make inroads on Obama's momentum.

"Hillary's chances of making a late impact on Barack's bandwagon appear to be diminishing rapidly," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Is America ready for a black president? I really am not convinced, and now he is the democratic candidate I am sorely tempted with the 2/1 on offer from Betfair on the wily veteren McCain to be the next president.. The euphoria and reaction on Obama has - I'm sure - over imflated his price and McCain looks certainly the value now..

Re: American Presidential Primaries

It almost seems unthinkable that the Republicans will be back in doesn't it? But it also seems pretty unthinkable we'll see a black man whose name sounds like Osama and is rumoured to be a muslim homosexual and the anti-christ as president.

This one is gonna be bizarre I tells ye. World War III breaking out and Bush remaining in office wouldn't surprise me. Nor would Obama being assassinated. Or McCain dropping dead during an appearance on Letterman. "Thanks Dave.." *THUD*

I'd be willing to chance something weeeee on the old fella though. Crazy as it might seem. I think things will probably get crazier. God bless America and all who sail in her. Just show me the money before you disintegrate.

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Depending on what news sites you get your info from it's either no chance or there's a deal being hammered between 'em for Hillary to be his Vice Presidential running mate.

BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Surprise Obama-Clinton talks held
BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Obama's potential running mates

There's supposed to be a three-man crew who's narrowing down the shortlist of potential candidates for Barack Obama: Caroline Kennedy (daughter of JFK), former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder and Washington insider Jim Johnson.

The Associated Press: Obama names a Kennedy to help pick vice president

Ladbrokes' odds on both the Democratic and Republican Vice Presidential candidates:

Re: American Presidential Primaries

sh1t only seen this thread, otherwise id have weighted in sooner

prediction McCain to be next president

why

cos rednecks do NOT want a black president

too late talking about it now, but had hillary won i think she would have been president, womans lib and all that mallarkey...
obama on the other hand is black , whose close friend a preacher has recently come out saying america deserves what it gets and is like a firebrand preacher just like ian paisley in the north of ireland. Talk radio networks have yet to step it up and start getting the dirt on obama, and when they do its vicious, guys by the name of
Rush limbaugh, sean hannity, bill o reilly will really tear into obama. google these guys cos i know u wont know of them over there, and read their articles.. worst offender is Michael savage who i listen to, (for entertainment) very intelligent guy who just hate liberals and eveerything they stand for, god guns and war is what he like to preach
i get to travel around the west coast of the states a lot and i have to meet conservative-republican people everyday who adore these guys and do not want obama as their pres.. and if any of you have seen Delieverence thats exactly what theyre like.

its like this only urban areas vote democrat, in areas outside of cities its redneckville, and they vote republican since there is more rednecks, logic states they will vote Mccain, (even though he is too liberal for a conservative) because trust me on this they do not want a black pres.

personally, my vote is mccain, as i think hes a stand up guy who speaks his mind, does not flip flop on his ideals the only thing is he should have been elected 8 yrs ago instead of bush, i said back then that bush is a bible bashing coke addict (oh and before i forget he bankrupted a baseball team, how the fcuk is that possible!!) retard i got into arguements with people over it those very same people now have come around to agreeing with me

had hillary got in i prob would have voted for her, but its not to be and obama does not have the savvy to be pres yet, after all he's only being a senator a couple years, now in 4years time i believe he would make an excellent choice for pres if McCain proves to be a lame duck, which i hope not cos i really respect the guy, any guy that had a 5 yr stay in the Hanoi hilton, and comes out intact deserves respect

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Interesting views by smk415 although it isnt represented by the markets as Obama is 1.43 on Betfair with John McCain is 3.65..Surely this won't be his price come election night, and therefore a price that must be taken ??!

Re: American Presidential Primaries

Joe biden as vp will not make much difference. Im still going for Mccain as next prez, regardless of what the opinion polls say.
The last election and the one b4 that had kerry and gore as front runners (both planks by the way, about as much charisma as a knitting needle), both lost,
Obama bucket loads of charisma, good looking, young, talks the talk, same mould as kennedy, but he is black, and has a muslim name, now remember this is a country that has only gotten over apartheid and, the redneck, trailer trash, crackerjack, pastrami eating white motherF##kers will come out in force to vote for mccain wither they like him or not.
Usually these inbred hics vote conservative anyway cos they are too stupid to know any better,
OH MY GOAD!! those hippie liberals are taking away the right to carry firearms, I need a fully automatic H&K to go shoot duck, and what if that world superpower known as Laos invades our shores, i need an M16fully auto, none of that semi auto for me, thats for those queers in frisco,

Ne way i think mccain will be a better prez than obama, REASONS 1 experience 2 experience and 3 experience, and if he does not do the job, then obama in 4yrs time, its just not obamas time yet, i would like to see him get a bit more meat on his bones
thats all for now it takes me too fcukin long to type this in,

PS ha glad i copied it, cos it would not let me post after i finished and pressed submit

Re: American Presidential Primaries

I hope you're right SMK as I have a maximum bet on McCain at 2.00 (which is looking a tad sad at the moment ..) I keep toying with the idea of laying it off for a loss, but my conscience tells me that his price will come back in before November. Presumably he will be having a Republican bash - similar to Obama and his crowd had in Denver last week?

Re: American Presidential Primaries

the republican party is a slow burner.... i seen this happen for last two elections republicans were behind in polls only to gain ground in the run up, for the most part polls are bullshit neway,
Fox news poll republicans and cnn poll liberals and they each try and out do one another in the bullshit stakes
the only hiccup i can think of to tell u is this

the McCain/Obama debates:

-2008-
September 26, 2008: Presidential debate with domestic policy focus, University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS
October 2, 2008: Vice Presidential debate, Washington University, St. Louis, MO
October 7, 2008: Presidential debate in a town hall format, Belmont University, Nashville, TN
October 15, 2008:Presidential debate with foreign policy focus, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY

Barak Osama is a better speaker than mcain so following these debates i fully expect Osamas price to go shorter and he will look like a shoe in, and mcain price will move out,
coming towards election day mcain will show improvement and hence his price will shorten,
and yes
they will have a big day out as well just like in denver, It was supposed to be thiss week, but gustav has put a stop to that, so they dont know when vp will be named, but when they do, maybe his mcain price will shorten,
